    Okay I guess I forgot to mention the total. I was around $1,200 including shipping give or take a couple bucks

      so same price more labor than the real deal

      @diegomacias4787 if you order everything together it’s probably cheaper, this is also a build video so you get the satisfaction of building it yourself as well as different color and neck options… this video was also made before Fender re-released the DeLonge Strat back into the market when the only option was buying second hand MIM Strats from the 2000’s for $2,000+

      @@JordanHandwerker Any MIM strat for 2k is crazy ngl. and i get the DIY shit tbh.

      I owned a 2002 DeLonge Strat back in 2003/2004 or so, bought it off eBay for $400… seeing the resale of all the old models and prices was insane, people wanted close to $1,000 for the Squier ones so making a TD Strat with good quality American made parts was a somewhat cheaper option than the Squier or MiM fender ones, but I get it too as if you’re going to buy one, why not the real deal! Wish I would have kept my original one 🥲 but… soon enough Fender is releasing the TD Starcaster 🤤

    I couldn't afford the MIM Fender one in high school. Recently built a Warmoth Body/Fender USA neck TD build and I love the tone and build quality! And if you go roasted alder for the body, you won't have the finish crack issues of the original.

    The guitar looks amazing. I’m debating just getting the body pre-painted in white.

    • @JordanHandwerker

      I would say it’s roughly about the same amount to have them paint it as it is in Time and money spent doing it yourself, definitely worth it though if you want to do it yourself

    Very nice. I just ordered a shell pink Tele with P90s and a roasted neck. I've tried finishing 3 bodies in the last 5 years. Hands down it saves $ (take into account ALL the work into getting a good finish) to have it finished by them. It just takes a few months longer. Maybe takes that long to DIY, If do a pro job. I'll prob have a Luther piece it together, too. Don't wanna chance a f up from me. Can't find what I want from a maker, Warmth only route for me. $$$$ lol

    $1200? You can buy one for $100 more. Tom DeLonge fender Stratocaster goes for $1299.00 new. I built one out of a squier affinity Stratocaster and it cost me a little under $500. But I know you're talkin about it's real fun creating something that you want and building it your way.

      I did make an updated video on the cost of the build but yes, I also made this guitar before the release of the rerelease Guitar, I talk about in my new video on a couple options for building a TD Strat on a squire platform or even buying the body by itself and grabbing a Squier neck off eBay. Definitely plenty of choices in a build for sure! I personally wanted to make one from scratch including painting it myself

    Ok so did I miss the grand total or did you never actually say? 😂 also did you just prefer thr maple fretboard? Cause I thought Tom’s green strat had a rosewood fretboard? I know his yellow strat had the maple. Could be wrong tho… still tho, nice guitar man. Nice build.

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  Рік тому +2

      Uh 😅 I thought I mentioned it 😭 I spent about $1,200 or so including the parts and shipping. And correct, Tom as far as I understand didn’t like Maple necks, but I really love the way the look so I went with one myself! The nice thing with warmoth is you can get a neck In whichever fretboard you like 🤘🏻and thanks man! 🙏🏻

      @@JordanHandwerker absolutely man. I’ve been wanting to recreate his boxcar strat for a long time and had been on there messing with all the features and what it would cost. It was right about where you’re at. I just built a Tom Delonge style strat with one of the new fender bodies they sell since I couldn’t find a hat tail body and didn’t want to pay $400 for a warmoth. I got an American 2 point trem system and I got a roasted maple neck with pau ferro (I’m wanting to change that to an American neck soon). I painted the body an off white from ford that my dad had at his body shop and used a tortoise shell pickgaurd with a Bareknuckle Aftermath pickup and 500k pot that has coil split. Did the fender locking tuners and bone nut and all that stuff… I spent like $1200 more or less on just all the parts.
      Tried building the boxcar strat on fenders mod shop and dang… like $2000 lol

      @@Mogs716 I would say see if you can find a Hardtail Strat from Reverb.com and maybe just modify it to make it what you want. The necks the most expensive thing but if you buy a body from warmoth and want to paint it yourself just have them do the DIY paint prep, on the other hand if you have them paint it I think you’d get the best value for money IMHO but that’s up to you

      @@JordanHandwerker yeah I’m sure sometime in the future I’ll build that strat. And yes the neck is the most expensive thing to buy. Someday for sure

    ok, why isn't this configuration called an Eddie Van Halen. I think he did it first no...I am not a huge van halen fan, some of their songs are great whatever...but the strat body with one humbucker in the bridge is absolutely an EVH style. Is it the hard tail thing..? if so, i can buy that.. but i don't think that is what people mean... i think people mean strat body with single pickup humbucker in the bridge

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  9 місяців тому

      Because it’s the Tom Delonge Fender signature Stratocaster not an Eddie Van Halen, and I believe Eddie only used a Strat for a few years before he got a Kramer which had either a tremolo or Floyd rose but he wasn’t the first to use that configuration first either. Eddie had a different version altogether which I believe had a Gibson pickup. When Tom signed his deal with fender this is what he envisioned for his ideal signature guitar.

    • @sempercompellis
      @sempercompellis 9 місяців тому

      Sorry but the configuration has entered into the popular lexicon. It is something over and above the "Delong strat by Fender (trademark)" . I am sorry and can't believe you didn't get what i was saying especially since you did a build of one yourself- certainly there must be some characteristics you were going for in you head...? @@JordanHandwerker

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  9 місяців тому

      @sempercompellis well your first question was why it wasn’t call the Eddie Van Halen configuration, I love the tonality you get with the string through body, I did have one of the originals back in 2001 and I well say the sustain characteristics to me make the string through Hardtail a solid option, other than that single pickup guitars were around way before Eddie V. Plus you don’t have to mess with tightening tremolo springs, it’s a much more user friendly system.

    you can get a decent body from elsewhere for less than 100 if you plan to paint it yourself. just order the neck from warmoth.

    • @JordanHandwerker
      @JordanHandwerker  Місяць тому

      lol okay, decent body elsewhere for $100 is a lie, most of the cheap shit you buy on Amazon is garbage, same with the ones on guitar fetish, the Warmoth one wasn’t much more expensive and honestly it’s cut and made in America so I’d say you get a better quality body

      What? My $1300 Parts Telecaster players better than my $3000 custom shop Strat. Warmoth DIY guitars are a steal for what you can get for the price compared to what is in the market.
      You can literally build whatever you want, and that kind of freedom is well worth $1200.
