This video has proveen very helpful and on an unrelated note, as someone who works in software development, I really appreciate the regular client updates to improve the user experience. When you have "Sheltered from the wind" bonus, do not waste all 6 bonus tiles for single housing district. You only need 3 tiles to receive heat bonus.
This is useful for all of those area buffs or debuffs. For instance, on one of those Utopia maps, I had a oil supply that was inside a -20 heat zone, but I was able to disregard it entirely by only building two tiles inside.

@@crixcrumble7068 I completely abandoned coal and went full oil in chapter 1. I haven't thought of coal since kek. I wonder if that's an odd thing to do? However, I haven't had any fuel problems at all.

I'm reading the comments, and I'm shocked that so many people beat the game already. I just started my 3rd restart, never making it past chapter 1. I mastered FP1, but 2 is working me over. Hopefully this video will help me get to chapter 2!
this is just bs, nothing is explained, even in this guide we don't understand how the economy really works, ok there are numbers but they mean literally nothing and the mechanics you'd actually need are not explained

I didn't expect to enjoy this game but you guys did it. I usually go for semi relaxing city builders (cities skylines, rise of industry,etc) and ngl I actually almost gave up after the first chapter XD, but after trying it a few more times and finishing the story all I can say, the game is good... like REAL GOOD. I am genuinely surprised of how much I enjoyed it and just kept spending hours on it.
This game definitely kept me on edge the entire time. I never really felt "secure" at all only to couple together with the constant stress of the last chapter
Frostpunk 2 had quite the jump in complexity from the 1st game which was daunting at first. But after about an hour or two it becomes pretty clear how everything interacts. I think it was a positive change that allows for more gameplay styles. I do miss being able to peer into the lives of individuals though, I'd love to see it evolve into a Cities: Skylines-esque system where thousands of people can exist and be viewed in more detail with wants, needs, statistics, routines, etc...
Never sleep on Hubs. Heater hubs can provide 80 heat if placed near two districts and the warehouses can actually be manpower positive if correctly placed. Same idea with buildings. They are more efficient than just adding more districts.
hubs are great but they are never "critical" research - anything else you could get earlier on is much more important for your survival. I noticed that I missed them altogether towards chapter 5 and getting them only made things a bit more efficient and sustainable, but I'd not rely on them altogether to progress through the game

An outstanding successor of the legendary first game. It’s lots of fun with great exploration. It reminds me a lot of the Edge DLC which was real great already embedded in FP2. A true AAA title again, you have a great Dev. Team indeed. Much love for 11Bit, the raising Star for true Strategy games lovers. Very well done Steward.
The game is truly an innovation. My old timer gamer's mind is struggling to wrap around the complexities and fluidity of the game's mechanics, always on the edge of giving up. Maybe this is the way forward for future strategy games, and people like me will be left behind with retro games lol.
It’s fascinating that, unlike any other post-apocalyptic event, the Frost apocalypse forces people to stick together and find ways to thrive and survive because if too many poor decisions escalate then everybody dies.
Loved the story, beat it the other day and have started/restarted multiple Utopia mode plays already so far to varying levels. My only critique you guys need to do is move the "Checkmark" from underneath the District adjacency bonuses to the foreground when I place a node..... Right now it can get hidden by a 3 district adjacency bonus very easily which is the optimal way to play.
I think every chapter of this video should be integrated as an in-game tutorial, for each UI section , in the prologue or after. This would help a lot of players!
This Guide looks very compact and nicely explained..... good idea! Gotta say after my first run through the story mode i still had many questions , but with trial and error the system is actually understandable :D But , it takes a lot more brain and micromanagement than the first one.... so yeah the guide is a very big W :D
Phew! I just made it to Chapter 2 and golly it's getting complex! I am really loving it so far. I decided to stop there and revisit once I've had some rest to cool my brain down.
Think you guys have put together an amazing game here. I never played the first one but I already fell in love with this one, it really feels like a perfect mix of grand strategy and city building. I love the council hall thing and the different factions. I’ve been playing on easy setting so far and I honestly feel like for me so far its been a perfect challenge, still tricky but not at all impossible. I did play a lot of hearts of iron IV and I have to say I think you out done them with this one. I hope it sells really well and that we get to see more from you guys, thanks for making an awesome game!
One thing that I'll add is the need for a building switcher (which existed in the prequel). Cycling through so many jumbled districts becomes a hassle when you don't have a shortcut that lets you switch between similar structures. I kept missing out on previously built districts that I desperately needed for new buildings to painstakingly find them in, say, 5 minutes. That was a non-issue in Frostpunk 1, yet you still added that feature for better control. For this one, it seems mandatory. Edit: It would also be great if it was possible to cancel ongoing construction

Unique games, where Developers and the whole Team follow an idea an create something realy outstanding. They are so brave and have trust in that concept they want to bring to live. Outstanding nowerdays. So many studious just go the easy road and make more of the same... best example is Ubisoft. They just dont have balls(ovaries) any more. The polish studios have! When i saw the Market reacting on the First numbers of FP2 i took the Chance and invest in this enviable company. Thank you 11 bit for making this kind of games. Never stop doing it your way!
9:28 worth noticing that building more district sectors in an area that already gave you a bonus will not improve this bonus. The minimum amount of is 3, less and it will not improve, the max is also 3, more than that will not give you extra bonuses. They should add a message at least at the prologue that explains this when you first try to build taking advantage of the surroundings bonuses.
I don't own the game YET, but I'm going to buy it, because I see the work you guys did. I' m getting more and more interested in mechanics and the plot. My brother loves the first Frostpunk AND the second one, so I feel very positive about the quality.
Really well presented video, I bought the Deluxe edition and I've had to learn all of this during the past 3 days, it's been fun and challenging, and I'm still struggling, but this video could have saved me some hours, so it's good to have an official guide for the beginning of the game. If possible, I would love a follow up video (the female presenter did a good job explaining things and was clear enough in case you want to use her again for a new video) in which the following topics are explained: - how to understand the allocation of resources between the city and the colony, I see it says 0/250 at the top of each and I know it can be upgraded with Skyways, but I'm having a hard time understanding what each represent. Each one (city and colony) can send up to 250 in each direction? is it a one time shipment or is it an ongoing allocation of resources? - what do the 3 empty diamond icons on top of a 'faction' mean? when is it a good moment to fund one of their projects, back one of the factions publicly, or ask them for heatstamps? - speaking of heatstamps, what is a good way to increase that income? For food, materials, goods, even prefabs, it's a bit more straightforward since they are either found in the world as deposits or produced by a building, but heatstamps you need for pretty much everything yet the game doesn't seem to provide much information on how to increase them other than 'having a higher population = more heatstamps', and it's an important resource early on. - can Trails be upgraded to Skyways? I've researched Skyways and I see I can build them on top of Trails, but I'm not sure if I'm paying for upgrading them or building new ones from the ground up (in which case the resources used for building the Trails in the first place were wasted)

Loved the game. Finished it yesterday. Will try things "differently" in the next playthrough! I also have some complaints but I will reserve it for a later time to avoid spoilers. Looking forward to the DLC, and please improve performance. I was also facing audio popping issues when my city got bigger.
try experimenting and combining some laws and technology, that may cause sinergy or clash with each other! the most basic one to discover for starters are combining the chemical additive law and the chemical dome for the technology, which grants a much needed surplus food for the start of your journey, or the natural additive and the bio waste dome for the same effect
Loved the first game and was eagerly waiting for this. First 8 hours in and this one lacks the immersion of the first game in every aspect. Honestly, they shouldn't have gone to the bigger, faster(weeks), and overpopulated management path. Instead they should have proposed an even smaller society than in FP1. It would open possibilities for much more immersion and caring for the people and the game would have to be very creative/innovative to present a tough challenge the other way around. It's just lackluster when you have to offer an unnecessary complexity and range in order to come up with a "difficult" game. Thought it was supposed to be a dire and unforgiven frozen world, not dozens of thousands of people everywhere.
Its great. Music, visuals, and all the additions. The menu could have use a bit more styling flair and tactful color trim here or there. With UI sizing options besides one... I think the game could have been deeper in some regards. I feel the introduction should have been similar to FP1 with a quick but gradual introduction to the new mechanics. I think the train steam engine was a bit too abrupt. I also wished the events like losing or winning or random events were presented in a more dramatic fashion and not so lack luster. More visual representations and variety. I also wish we had more freedom in camera movement up close rather than stationary magnify. Overall Frostpunk 2 is a very good direction. I'm enjoying learning it. I just have a lot of little gripes. I hope we get a satisfying Moding support. And that 11 Bit Studios continues to develop Frostpunk , and soon make Frostpunk 3!

I'm a Frostpunk Veteran and was completly overwhelmed with about everything in the new game. It's way too many things to keep in mind at one way too early 😩
Biggest issue i had was figuring out what to research and where to research to to gain more coal or something helping more with the materials resource and food. Unlimited ones and so on.
I played for the first time on France 2 and I can assure you that I had no demonstrations. No one died of hunger and cold and I can assure you that I can't believe it and that. I managed to see the Steam success of the 20 Week that no one dies and cold or and hungry in the storm.
I hope there are visual options for the cursor in the game? I really want to play this game but I have no experience playing RTS games or city management games. But the idea of frostpunk is too cool haha, and I like the idea of making such guides on youtube! I am having trouble looking at the cursor though, its the exact colour as some of the UI elements. Will I be able to change it to a more visually accessible version in the game?
Should of had a tutorial in the game instead of having to make a video explaining how the game works. The first mission of the story doesn't even teach you what you need to know in order to play. And in a complicated and difficult game like this, you NEED information.
The only question I have is is it technically possible t get to a point in the utopia mode where everything runs itself, or is it more likely that you'd eventually run out and your city falls no matter what. With the city and outposts eventually running out of resources I'm concerned my cities would be just a matter of time
@@modgal since I have been playing it, it seems like those infinite spots arent actually infinite. They just have so many resources it'd take a huge amont of time before they're depleted like one i had said about 600 weeks. But I did notice a setting you could turn on that allows you to turn Utopia mode into Endless mode, though I find it strange its hidden in the games general settings.
My first go through failed right after the first whiteout, it was f-in brutal and i got voted out like in survivor. My issue was i forgot there was a button for storage hubs and wasted a ton of fuel from over mining. Careful out there stewards
Everything is ok, but missing notifications like in previous game. In part 1 every event showed good seeing notification. In this version often I miss situation when something happened. Mayby You can add addidtional notifications when i can chose a new law, a new technology to study or something is build etc?
Says a lot if you need a 20 mins youtube beginners guide on day one of release. As a HUGE Frostpunk 1 fan, I'm sorely disappointed. Ended up refunding it after 30 mins of trying to have fun :/ What the hell happened guys !! You had something really special going :(
Just bought the game and yes its different than the first but i dont think its a bad thing. I like the ambiance and scale of the game and fit perfectly what would happen after they survived in the frostpunk1. I would not liked to micro manage a city this size...
Hey, does my city from chapter 1 (New London) carry over to chapter 2? Let's say, I barely finish chapter 1. All is collapsing, but I win. Should I be worried about it while entering chapter 2? Should I start the entire campaign from scratch, if I know that I could do better?
I love the blurry trails of the snow flakes going across the screen because FSR ruins the rendering and frame generation is required to play it. I get about 100FPS with FSR and Frame Generation ON. For comparison I get 110 FPS on Space Marine 2 running native 1440 on ultra settings with 100 Tyranids charging me. Crazy optimisation for basically looking at a GIF of a city with 90% of it static from some moving lights.
I would love this game. Such a shame ppl only found out that it wouldn’t be coming to console until next year until about 3 days ago. Guess it’s time to play the Waiting Game: Envy Edition

They replaced the micro control for a macro style and everything is more confusing.

Loved the game. Finished it yesterday. Will try things "differently" in the next playthrough! I also have some complaints but I will reserve it for a later time to avoid spoilers. Looking forward to the DLC, and please improve performance. I was also facing audio popping issues when my city got bigger.

try experimenting and combining some laws and technology, that may cause sinergy or clash with each other! the most basic one to discover for starters are combining the chemical additive law and the chemical dome for the technology, which grants a much needed surplus food for the start of your journey, or the natural additive and the bio waste dome for the same effect

Loved the first game and was eagerly waiting for this. First 8 hours in and this one lacks the immersion of the first game in every aspect. Honestly, they shouldn't have gone to the bigger, faster(weeks), and overpopulated management path. Instead they should have proposed an even smaller society than in FP1. It would open possibilities for much more immersion and caring for the people and the game would have to be very creative/innovative to present a tough challenge the other way around. It's just lackluster when you have to offer an unnecessary complexity and range in order to come up with a "difficult" game. Thought it was supposed to be a dire and unforgiven frozen world, not dozens of thousands of people everywhere.
Its great. Music, visuals, and all the additions. The menu could have use a bit more styling flair and tactful color trim here or there. With UI sizing options besides one... I think the game could have been deeper in some regards. I feel the introduction should have been similar to FP1 with a quick but gradual introduction to the new mechanics. I think the train steam engine was a bit too abrupt.
I also wished the events like losing or winning or random events were presented in a more dramatic fashion and not so lack luster. More visual representations and variety. I also wish we had more freedom in camera movement up close rather than stationary magnify.
Overall Frostpunk 2 is a very good direction. I'm enjoying learning it. I just have a lot of little gripes. I hope we get a satisfying Moding support. And that 11 Bit Studios continues to develop Frostpunk , and soon make Frostpunk 3!

It's way too many things to keep in mind at one way too early 😩

Biggest issue i had was figuring out what to research and where to research to to gain more coal or something helping more with the materials resource and food. Unlimited ones and so on.
Expanding districts do not increase negatives effects, only positive effects. Expand districts before building new ones.

I played for the first time on France 2 and I can assure you that I had no demonstrations. No one died of hunger and cold and I can assure you that I can't believe it and that. I managed to see the Steam success of the 20 Week that no one dies and cold or and hungry in the storm.

I hope there are visual options for the cursor in the game? I really want to play this game but I have no experience playing RTS games or city management games. But the idea of frostpunk is too cool haha, and I like the idea of making such guides on youtube! I am having trouble looking at the cursor though, its the exact colour as some of the UI elements. Will I be able to change it to a more visually accessible version in the game?

Should of had a tutorial in the game instead of having to make a video explaining how the game works. The first mission of the story doesn't even teach you what you need to know in order to play. And in a complicated and difficult game like this, you NEED information.
The only question I have is is it technically possible t get to a point in the utopia mode where everything runs itself, or is it more likely that you'd eventually run out and your city falls no matter what. With the city and outposts eventually running out of resources I'm concerned my cities would be just a matter of time
there are some infinite resource spots, so seems like it's possible to achieve a self-run city?
@@modgal since I have been playing it, it seems like those infinite spots arent actually infinite. They just have so many resources it'd take a huge amont of time before they're depleted like one i had said about 600 weeks.
But I did notice a setting you could turn on that allows you to turn Utopia mode into Endless mode, though I find it strange its hidden in the games general settings.
My first go through failed right after the first whiteout, it was f-in brutal and i got voted out like in survivor. My issue was i forgot there was a button for storage hubs and wasted a ton of fuel from over mining. Careful out there stewards
Everything is ok, but missing notifications like in previous game. In part 1 every event showed good seeing notification. In this version often I miss situation when something happened. Mayby You can add addidtional notifications when i can chose a new law, a new technology to study or something is build etc?

Just bought the game and yes its different than the first but i dont think its a bad thing. I like the ambiance and scale of the game and fit perfectly what would happen after they survived in the frostpunk1. I would not liked to micro manage a city this size...

Chapter 1 does not affect chapter two minus the event with the new London scouts.

I love the blurry trails of the snow flakes going across the screen because FSR ruins the rendering and frame generation is required to play it. I get about 100FPS with FSR and Frame Generation ON. For comparison I get 110 FPS on Space Marine 2 running native 1440 on ultra settings with 100 Tyranids charging me. Crazy optimisation for basically looking at a GIF of a city with 90% of it static from some moving lights.
