11:47 to be clear, that's not Sayaka's mum, that's the girls' teacher (the same one who debuted in such a silly way, ranting about her breakup to the class!)
Regarding Kyubey's attitude towards humans, the full name of the anime is "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" which translates from Latin as "Mage Girl Magical Madoka". However, while "puella" can strictly translate as "girl", it also carries an additional connotation of "slave". Another indication that t he nature of the story was hiding in plain sight.
I really like how Homura's fight against Walpurgisnacht this episode is basically just Batman with prep time. She had to set up all of that ahead of time.
The official profile for Walpurgisnacht written by the creators says that she was born from a single magical girl but fused with other witches over time, which explains her immense power. And as if that challenge alone isn't enough it is also confirmed that Walpurgis can only be defeated by magic, meaning the weapons homura uses on her were literally never going to work. No matter how many times Homura challenges the final boss, she would always be doomed to lose. It is also amazing that Homura hasn't despaired to the point of turning into a witch until this timeline, considering she kept on witnessing Madoka and co. die over a 100 times without ever able to change the final outcome despite her efforts. She only almost gave up now because Kyubey told her that the Karma on Madoka will only keep on getting worse if she were to continue on. There is a theory that said the reason for that might be because Madoka wished in one of the timelines for Homura to never give up. It sounds quite plausible to me, but I'm not sure if that is canon.
The fact her witch name is Walpurgisnacht is interesting to me. The whole point of the holiday is to protect from witchcraft in the name of Saint Walpurga and yet here’s a witch with the same name. Who was this girl originally? Was she Saint Walpurga herself or someone from the present day? Is the absorbing of other witches based on some sort of wish? Were there really that many girls in the city to power her up so only Gretchen can compare? She’s a mysterious one and I wish we got more details.
@@calebgoodman3028 Kyubey and creators said Walpurgisnacht existed so much time ago, she isn't a modern witch. I like the theory she was original Saint Walpurga. I don't remember exactly but in a note of the manga the writer said Walpurgistnacht absorb the magic of the witches and magical girls dead and that it's the reason the writer of manga puts Kyoko, Mami and Sayaka like minions of Walpurgis.
@@calebgoodman3028 In modern day people consider Walpurgisnacht to be a convocation of witches, not a protection against them. It's in many ways similar to the pentagram, which used to be a protection symbol, but which a few wanna-be satanists turned upside down and claimed to be a symbol for witchcraft or the devil and in today's pop culture on the "bad use" remains, and barely anyone remembers either the pentagram or Walpurgisnacht originally came from.
I love Walpurgisnacht's enterance. Homura walking toward the animals/familiars walking in the opposite direction, the curtain, the countdown, finally seeing it in the sky. It's such a perfect moment and I love it.
[Rebellion spoilers, I guess] What I love even more is the parallel imagery between Walpurgisnacht in this scene and Madokami in Rebellion (towards the end). In both scenes, there are ribbons coming out from a center source, there is the same elephant walking out, and there is a girl of incredible magic in a massive dress coming for Homura. While Walpurgisnacht is upside down and Madoka right side up, Homura sees them both as the same sort of threat: both are there to separate her from Madoka. (Go compare the two scenes if you don't know what I'm talking about)
27:21 If you actually sit through the ending credits and watch them, you'll notice an interesting thing: we see a silhouette of Madoka walking past silhouettes of the various magical girls that she's met, as they stand or sit there dejected: first Sayaka, then Kyoko, then Mami, and finally Homura. But unlike the others, when she walks past Homura, Homura _turns around with an outstretched arm,_ reaching for Madoka. Homura isn't the protagonist of this series. She plays a vital role in it, keeping Madoka alive and preparing her for the end. But in the end, it's all up to Madoka.
Watching the opening for the first movie is not necessarily a must but it does have extra new scenes that add to the story and a certain scene that enhances something you’ll see in the 3rd movie
@@kaanami not really spoilery much ahead, but warning for others regardless latter 'chairs in the grass field' scene becomes more impactful and that's pretty much it. other than that it's just an enjoyable op
@@kaanami SPOILERS!!!! You remember the sequence in which homura is turning into a witch? She's sitting on a chair next to madoka. Well that sequence is a continuation of a scene in the opening of the 1st movie. Then the post credits of rebellion where homura is sitting alone in the chair is the final sequence
Homura not saying anything is due to a combination of people not believing her, and because if Madoka knows everything (Like right now) the chance she won't sacrifice herself is really small. So she has try to give Madoka enough knowledge that she won't become a magical girl, while keeping enough of a distance that Madoka won't contract to stop her from dying.
A lot of people seem to doubt and wonder why didn't try talking to the others more. The thing is: she did try that. Dozens of times. and it never worked.
@@PissedGrunty One would think that the one time she tried it in chapter 10 would be enough. But chap 10 is quite complicated, and requires multiple watches to understand what is really happening there.
One of the many things I love about this episode: we finally discover that "Magia", the ending theme ever since Mami died, is sung from *Madoka*'s perspective. Which is even more shocking than the fact that "Connect", the opening theme, is sung from Homura's PoV. Veeeery looking forward to the next video. I've re-watched eps 10 through 12 many, many times over the years to fully soak up the emotional intensity. Just about the only thing that affected me more than PMMM's finale was the end of Mass Effect 3.
I guess we now know what Homura was doing whenever she wasn't protecting (stalking?) Madoka; she raided some Army Bases with the help of her timestop for some heavy weaponry :D
@@sirmoonslosthismind How can there be jailtime when presumably there are cameras in such places and the cameras remained on and saw nothing? Wouldn't this just be a big mystery?
@@remo27 there's a lot fewer cameras on military bases than you might think. regardless, everything sensitive is on somebody's property sheet, and they're held accountable for it.
Another really great episode with a lot to talk about. The big thing when this show aired there was this big earthquake that happened in Japan in 2011, so the Walpurgisnacht was actually highly correlated with the real-life disaster happening at that time. The show did stop airing until a month later to avoid unnecessary association, but they did later air both episodes 11 and 12 together to make up for the wait. It has been stated by one of the creators that Walpurgisnacht was a single witch who has grown from the combination of countless other witches. Walpurgisnacht combines with other witches in the same way two powerful tornadoes are able to combine and become larger. Because it's so powerful, it rarely shows itself. She also doesn't need to hide in a barrier like other witches. Even her description is very mysterious. "The stage-constructing witch (alias: Walpurgisnacht / real name: unknown); her nature is helplessness. She symbolizes the fool who continuously spins in circles. The witch's mysteries have been handed down through the course of history; her appellation is "Walpurgisnacht." She will continue to rotate aimlessly throughout the world until she completely changes the whole of this age into a drama. When the doll's usual upside-down position reaches the top part of the witch, she completely roils the civilization on the ground in a flash through her gale-like flight." The weapon that looks like Homura's shield is actually a sand timer. When the flow of the sand is blocked, time is stopped. And when there is no sand on the upper part of the sand timer and then the timer is reverted, one month's worth of time is turned back. But before that stage is reached, only time-stopping is possible. This means the special power of Homura is the ability to manipulate one month's time's worth of sand in the sand timer. There's also a Puella Magi Production Note that reveals that Walpurgisnacht is meant to look like the upper half of a sand timer, while Kriemhild Gretchen(Madoka's witch) looks like the lower half. It's also interesting when you remember that Homura's shield is basically a sand timer. I honestly really love the scene with Madoka and her mom. It immediately shows the difference in maturity between the two and why this whole contract thing would never fly with adults. It took Madoka the whole show to think about something her mother thought of immediately back in episode 2. It also shows that Madoka has a much better understanding about what being a magical girl is and what Kyubey's actual goal is, so she'll be very careful about what she will wish for if she decides to make a wish. Rebellion is the only thing you need to watch that's necessary. I know the recap movies have a new OP that you could watch, but it's not a necessity. If you do wanna watch it though it is on UA-cam and it does have captions in English so you can read the lyrics ua-cam.com/video/CMVmuUxRofs/v-deo.html That also was not Sayaka's Mother, that was the teacher. The teacher and Madoka's mom are close friends. Madoka has not made her wish yet. Madoka's wish will be revealed in the very next/final episode. Also, keep in mind that there is an after-credits scene that happens in ep 12.
I really like that they took the time to show how the parents are taking this whole thing. Usually they don’t focus on it since they really can’t do anything about it besides support their children when they can. Though it’s extra tough here since the girls can’t say anything or at least not without causing problems. Reminds me of another anime called Red Garden where the whole story was basically this situation.
30:00 “How is this going to end? I don't know. I can't see a happy ending.” And those are the best shows, when all seems lost, only for the hero to come along at the last moment and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. It's especially good when, once the hero's solution is revealed, it's obvious in hindsight.
Imagine a possible reality where the series ended with Madoka being pushed down the stairs, tripping and dying, and then Homura giving up and becoming a witch
Of course magical girls can tell their secret, Kyouko told hers to her father and he just simply killed his entire family and himself and burned his entire church down.
I have a theory about the whole concept of karmic destiny. I think it's basically just a trade-off for your life. It's implied your potential as a magical girl is determined by the amount of connections or influence you have, or will have, in your life, right? Because by becoming a magical girl you essentially forfeit your life, the world loses what impact you would have had if you had lived out your life as a person. So what if that lost potential is what translates into magical prowess? It's like the people whose loss would be a bigger detriment to the world burn brighter when they sacrifice themselves.
A few heads up for the movie, 1st. You will be VERY CONFUSED at the beginning so just go algo with it, it will answer your questions as the movie progress just like the anime 2. There's a post credits scene so don't skip that 3. Reacting to the op of the recap movie is not really necessary but its a good bonus going into the movie, i personally would suggest checking it out
The main reason Homura goes back is to save madoka, not to save the world, that’s important. Also Madoka turning into a magical girl doesn’t mean the world gets destroyed, but is a high chance of happening. Like last timeline she destroyed the world because she used all her magic in one go, if she uses her magic little by little and cleans her soul gem it can be delayed a long time. A magical girl will not turn into a witch if they keep their hope up and her soul gem clean, if they fall into despair or use all their magic in one go they will turn into a witch. So the most important reason here is just to save Madoka and fulfill the promise they made, for that Homura needs to carry everything alone. Anyways I like to think that the opening song and the ending song are from Homura’s perspective it makes so much sense, she has being trying more many times that we had been shown in the series (there’s a madoka manga called another story, that is a different timeline of the ones Homura have gone through in the anime)
The catch is that if Madoka uses her magic little by little, it won't be enough to defeat Walpirgisnacht. She _has_ to use enough magic to turn herself into a witch, or else Walpirgisnacht will complete its rampage and destroy everything. What to do, what to do…
Don't forget that Homura has repeated this month at least 100 times already. So far Homura, this has gone on for at least a full decade. We only see a few of those timelines. But there's actually more than a 100 of them
@9:05 I happen to be an omnivorous person who does think animals should be treated well. I could not slaughter one myself, I'm bad with viscera, but humans evolved as obligate omnivores. It's part of how we became what we are. Yes, there are plants that can provide us with the building blocks needed to make the essential vitamins and minerals we get from meat, but eating the meat is so much more energy efficient that three ounces of mussels is worth nearly twice as much iron as three ounces of spinach, as just one example. Do I think we should eat meat? Yes. Do I think we need to treat the animals with kindness? Also yes. Do I want to force people to eat meat? No; I think everyone should eat what they like. But it's not hypocritical to be eating a burger and speak of kind treatment of the cattle.
when you think about it, it's crazy how Homura is still alive. She went through at least a hundred timelines (if I'm correct), in which sometimes Sayaka turns into a witch, Mami dies, or Kyoko dies, or both, or all of them, ect... And yet, Homura never got killed or even turned into a witch during that time. Who knows how many times she reached the day she could fight the Walpurgisnacht even?
Homura would've never turned into a Witch until her realization that every time she loops back, she adds more karmic value to Madoka's fate. The entire time, the hope that she could one day save Madoka was keeping her alive, and so long as she could still rewind time to try again, her hope was kept alive. It's the sunk cost fallacy (although not really a fallacy in this case, for reasons of the next episode) But once she realized that going back in time again would just make things worse, it felt hopeless, and she only then was about to turn into a Witch, like Kyubey says. It is remarkable how she's been able to stay alive this long, though, although she does have pretty busted time-stop powers, so long as she's not being restrained. In one of the spin-offs, we see in one of the previous timelines that Homura is more than willing to reset early if Madoka dies before Walpurgisnacht arrives, so who knows how many times that's happened.
08:50 Here's the thing. I don't consider fighting for animal rights and not being a vegetarian to be hypocrisy. The humane treatment of animals before they die for our sakes is what a lot are advocating for (though a lot are also advocating for true vegetarianism/veganism of humans as well). There is acknowledgement that animal life is precious, but not precious enough to force denial of the carnivore part of our omnivorous nature entirely. That animals are truly below us in order of philosophical importance, but love and care are still to be shown in how they're treated and how they're preserved, isn't an incongruent thought.
Poor Homura doesn't know that Walpurgis is extremely resistant to physical damage. Its physical defense is off the charts so it needs to be hit with pure magic. But there's no description or advice given about the personal nature of witches; the magical girls really just go in blind. Which gives such despair knowing that no matter what Homura gathered, it would take nothing short of multiple nukes to take down Walpurgis...and maybe even that wouldn't work.
I love how the episode ends on such a cliffhanger. another fun reaction. With the happy images at the end, and I don't think this would count as a spoiler (it would be more a spin-off deal), more so now that the reveal of episode 10 is out. There are several CD dramas (Audio only stories) which are more of the 'standard' magical girl happy fun times and at least 2 of them have all 5 girls together. (Study group and Beach event.)
Speaking of "Bad Ending(s)", in a way Madoka Magica's premise where the protagonist must keep returning again and again in order to change the future reminds me a lot of the Hololive EN fan anime called "Myth's Bad Ending." It's different because Ame doesn't know what happened before with lots of different Ames from different timelines who have tried to stop the end of the world before, but it still gives me a similar vibe.
I’m sure others pointed it out but the lady drinking with Madokas mom was their teacher, not Sayakas mom. I think it’s been implied before that she and Junko were friends.
I'm surprised you can calmly wait a week for the next episode after such a cliffhanger at the end. I think one possible reason why Madoka's mom let Madoka go was because what she and the teacher were talking about earlier, and how Madoka's mom was unsure what Madoka was thinking about even though they have had a great relationship in the past and Madoka has come to her to talk about things. So Madoka is asking to go into the storm to help her friend but can't tell anything about it (to be honest, saying that "Oh, there's just this really awful witch destroying the city and this friend is fighting it so I need to be there too" wouldn't really help her case), and Madoka's mom just wants to have faith in her own child. You can clearly see how much she struggles with making that decision, and she probably feels some regret for letting her go, so she clearly didn't make that decision lightly. Also, Madoka told she was just going to bathroom but it's likely her mom decided to follow her anyway because she has been uneasy about Madoka's behavior lately. I think it's a very well and beautiful scene, and also very complicated on many levels because sometimes no matter how hard we try to interpret or read people, we can't really know or comprehend everything even if we assume what they say is true, or even if we hear their inner thoughts. To be honest, there are times when I can't understand even myself.
So, fun fact One of the magical girls that was shown in the little history section was Joan of Arc And there's actually a whole spinoff manga about her, "Puella Magi Tart Magica" If you like Madoka and history I'd definitely give it a read
Jeanne is one of my favorite historical figures. I haven’t read Tart Magica but I hope it’s as insane as actual history. Teenage girl goes to war because God tells her too and she wins all her battles (except the last one) by charging headfirst. She’s like the Leeroy Jenkins of the French except way more successful.
@@calebgoodman3028 "Insane" isn't a bad way to describe Tart Magica. It's the most Nanoha- or Symphogear-ish of the Madoka spinoffs. In her first battle as a magical girl, Tart (Jeanne) shrugs off being shot by a cannon and then chops a castle in half (and profusely apologizes for it after--she didn't know her own strength).
It would be interesting to go through and identify all of the historical figures that Kyube identifies as magical girls. I know three: Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, and Anne Frank. I'm sure the Japanese viewers instantly recognized the one in a kimono; but I'm not that well versed on Japanese lore to know who she is.
The Fate Zero and Madoka Magica animes were released the same year (2011) and written by the same screenwriter, Gen Urobuchi. Not to mention that the music composer for both animes was Yuki Kajiura and his band, Kalafina. Without a doubt a great year for Urobuchi and Yuki kajiura!!!
Luke, repeat just like you read this: WALL POOR GHEE'S Night (if you want to pronounce it as Nacht, just huff out the CH, as if you were breathing out) It is called Walpurgisnacht, but it is pronounced by them as Walpurgis no Yoru, wich means Night of Walpurgis. Walpurgis Night is the period between the night of March 30th to April 1st, where witches would ascend into mountaing to make pacts with the Devil.
One theory of Walpurgisnacht is that it grows in power like Madoka, since Homura not only goes back to save Madoka, but also to defeat Walpurgis. This is why beginning Madoka (who is weaker) can defeat Walpurgis, but Madoka has to keep expending all her energy to defeat Walpurgis despite her growing power, and ending Homura (who is probably much stronger than beginning Madoka) still can't win against Walpurgis.
12:15 Homura does not tell Madoka the truth because after a few dozen loops where she tried telling the truth, nobody believes her. We see one of those in chap 10, when Sayaka replies that there is no reason for Kyubei to trick them like that. And when Mami is faced with the realization that they will all become witches, she kills Sayoko and tries to kill Homura. So...... yeah...... no, she won't try telling them again.
Walpurgis or Walpurgisnacht was and old pagan festivity, made christian (Walpurga is a Saint), celebrated with bonfire. The festivity happens on the night of 30 April and the day of 1 May. The night is linked to many supernatural events (Faust is said to have conjured Mephistopheles on this night). In german is believed that Witches and Demons dances and perform evil act.
the delivery from you of all people of 'don't care; let them die' killed me and as i was writing this your reaction to mami on the end credits card made me slam my face straight into my glass desk
Important: the final episode will have an after-credits scene. With that out of the way... yeah. This is it. The grand finale to this story of hope and despair. I'm not going to say what her wish is, because you should see it for yourself. All I'll say is that it is what truly elevates Madoka Magica from great to brilliant.
there is allso a very intresting side manga of madoka magica called Puella Magi Homura Tamura its just a silly serries of where Homura ends up in very strange and weird alternated universes of madoka magica one example instead of just 1 soul gem you get 300ish soul gems instead
the first movie opening its not necessary but its a great piece of music and it has a bunch of new scenes. what you must react to is the third movie "Rebellion" which is the continuation of the story (and a masterpiece)
Sorry, but if I may nerd out for a bit: I found Kyube's explanation of how their system works both fascinating and oddly scientific! In practically all forms of energy storage, the amount of energy stored is proportional to the two different ends. A steam-turbine efficiency is calculated in part by the difference between the "Hot" input and the "Cold" output. A battery's power is held by the difference in electrical potential between the "Negative" end and the "Positive" end. A The amount of kinetic energy a rock will have is dependent on how "High" the high point is from how "Low" the low point is. What the Incubators have done is devise a way of substituting "Negative" and "Positive" with /emotional/ energy, with "Hope" and "Despair" as the two poles. They then use the soul Gem as a way of manufacturing this energy. Giving the wish to a girl gives her Hope. But as life is imperfect, eventually that girl will realize that she is unable to change certain things, even with her new powers, and this leads to despair. As she falls to despair, the interim emotional energy is what is harvested (somehow). Essentially, Magical girls are living batteries.

One of Walpurgisnacht's MANY powers is the ability to "induce helplessness", whocheans she can make absolutely anything she wants fail to work against her. She can only be injured be something she personally considers dramatically appropriate.
24:10 the way you can see the witch is 1)you walk into the witch labyrinth (it like a barier you cant see what inside unless you walk into it like) 2) the witch make you see them since we notice that from ep 1-2 witch can move around (like how homura in ep 10 walk in)we also know in the ep that the witch homura fight(i forget her name) is move around as a type of disaster to normal eyes(outside of labyrinth) or got lure in (by putting nagative though like what happen when homura ep 10 thinking while she walk into the with labyrinth) 3) magical girl seek em as we see in ep 8 or 9 that open sayaka's witch labyrinth and ep 2 when mami open the lybyrinth
about what you said in the 22 minute mark. is not that it already happened. is becouse, even if she decides to not make the wish at all, the timeline ends in one way or the other, or she needs to make the wish to save her parents becouse the refuge is in danger becouse of walpurgis, or becouse she ends up making the wish to help homura in the battle for one reason or the other.
I'm a little late to the party, and I think this comment really belongs in your episode 10 watch, but thems the breaks. If you're curious about why this show (and Made in Abyss and Attack on Titan and . . . and . . .) melts your brain, you'll want to look up Ki Sho Ten Ketsu (起承転結). In hollywood, you'll see three act structure and whatnot, but in Japan, you get Ki Sho Ten Ketsu. This is a four act story structure that's common in one form or another in many parts of south east Asia. In Japan the stuff's everywhere, even in the power point presentation you're forced to sit through in some middle manager's office. Here's a quick rundown using Madoka as an example: Ki (起): Introduction : Madoka and friends Sho (承): Development : Learn about being magical girls Ten (転): Recontextualization/shift/twist/non-sequitur : but it's really Homura's story Ketsu (結): Reconciliation : and now we see what happens. So, the crux is Ten (転). That's where our brains get all discombobulated. It's not a twist like we might think in the US or Europe or whatnot. It's more an unexpected development that we have to fit into the story as a whole. Take Madoka again. The above summary isn't quite right. If you look at episode 10, the non-sequitur is really the start of the episode where we meet first-timeline Homura. THAT's what throws you for a loop, right? Then the rest of the episode is a kind of Ketsu (結) where we're reconciling this with the rest of the series. This brings us to another thing about Ki Sho Ten Ketsu. It's fractal. The show, each arc, each episode, each scene, each sentence can be built in a Ki Sho Ten Ketsu construction. In Madoka, you have the first four episodes-Ki: Madoka, Sho: Magical Girls! Ten: Oh no, Mami! Ketsu: Meguka is suffering. Or, how about-Ki: Sayaka makes a wish Sho: she falls Ten: Holy s**t! Ketsu: Now we know the last secret of magical girls.
i really have had good fun with seeing the series through ur reactions it a good way to get a fresh take on the series. is to what's next episode 12 then the movie rebellion and ya there is a manga serris wraith arc is the english name that ties things together and gives more details then there is a second series in the madoka universe called magia record how it plays into the 4th madoka movie not sure. u ask allot of the write questions and have allot of good observations on things never really thought about but now becouse u pointed them out i do think about. thank you for sharing your reactions.
I remember having to wait for this episode when the show was airing. This episode was supposed to come out around the time the 2011 Tohoku earthquake happened and so this and episode 12 were delayed cause the catastrophe happening in the show itself would hit too close to home. The airing date for the final episode was on ended up on a holiday and it brought about a meme I can't mention here cause it would be a spoiler.
You only need to watch the third movie after this. I guess people want you to watch the opening song for the recap movies because those are unique and I guess worth watching but the third movie is what continues the story. I really hope you manage to get some kind of reaction up on UA-cam. I've seen one channel have the whole movie up with no filters or modifications at all so I don't know how some people are able to do that. But it should be fine if you put it up the same way you've been doing the episodes. If you're paranoid you could split it into multiple videos (there is a somewhat good stopping point about halfway through, or you could do 3 videos) or do similar to what you did with the show but with some cuts. I don't think it should be an issue though if you're doing it the same as how you've been doing the TV series.
To be honest, i was corrupted by philosophy of Incubator. For example, relationship between humans and animals is good deal for me. Maybe, i was too young, then watched madoka first time.
There's no real reason to react to the opening of the first movie other than you'll see some character bits and hear the OP song. I wouldn't complain if you did, but you won't actually miss anything that matters if you don't. (As a side note, the two recap movies have several instances of new animation or improved existing animation throughout, but nothing necessary to see if you've watched the show.) Then the third movie actually continues the story.
I personally don't really know why the first OP would be important to watch, but 3rd Movie definitely is. The one in the Bar wasn't Sayaka's Mother, it was their Homeroom Teacher that was always so dramatic, and apparently she gets along with Madoka's Mother. I noted in an earlier Episode how Homura's Ability is literally "just" Time Magic. Meaning a) everything you saw her fire was meticulously gathered by herself earlier, every single C4 planted by her own Hands (which is insane to think about), and b) that she is - regarding Witches - actually one of the weaker Magical Girls. She basically has as much Firepower as any normal Human would. Which is why her challenging Walpurgisnacht is futile.
I don't know about the last Part. Depends on how you define that. If she can't defeat Walpurgisnacht but Madoka can, isn't Madoka stronger then? Homura never wished to be stronger, just to protect her.@@Kaylakaze
@@dieblauebedrohung She wishes to be strong enough to protect her, which means she has to be strong enough to be able to protect Madoka even from herself. As for Wulpurgis, someone explained how she has near infinite physical defense but low magic defense. Madoka uses pure magic attacks while Homura can't use magic offensively.
Akemi Homura Akemi" means a beautiful dawn in Japanese, Homura" means a blazing fire. I have heard that in the festival of Walpurgis, a fire is kept burning from night to dawn. Perhaps they are two sides of the same coin, as you have sensed.
The only thing left to see is chapter 12 and the rebellion movie (Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (Shinpen) - Hangyaku no Monogatari) which is the sequel
You're not done after Rebellion, for there's another Madoka Magica movie coming up next year... but technically, yes, you're done with what's currently available once you react to Rebellion.
the more hard homura tried to save madoka, the situation just getting worst, this really crush homura’s heart and Walpurgisnacht is the most strongest witch on history, not much details were told, but according to one interview of this show’s director, she kept floating upside down, if she fight seriously, she will reverse herself. which means homura was never a threat to her😢
Walpurugisnacht is powerful but she isn't the strongest compared to the most powerful 3 witches in history: Belonging to Madoka, Joan d'arc and Isabeau.
This is probably unpopular opinion, but I personally think Magica Record is worth reacting to. It's not as big on the shock value but in some places as dark (or even darker) than Madoka Magica. Plus you get a bit more of a glimpse into what it's like being a 'normal' magical girl, and all the ups, and downs that cone with that.
Kyuubey may not *understand* human emotion, but certainly knows how to manipulate them - it's been taking little girls' souls for at least 2000 years and was almost certainly trying to 'nudge' Homura into becoming a Witch with its 'praise'. In the various 'Side-Stories' there have been a few attempts to create 'witch-proof' magical girls, but it never quite works out....
Walpurgisnacht. Walpurgisnacht, is one of the most powerful witch why?. It's because it's so big and powerful it doesn't need a witch labyrinth and it's entire existence outside of a magical girl is a Super typhoon. (The most powerful witch of course is Madoka's witch) There's a theory why Walpurgisnacht is so powerful is because of Homura also. Her going back again and again. Make Walpurgisnacht & Madoka powerful. Okay explaination for the existence of Walpurgisnacht. Walpurgisnacht (Walpurgis night) is a celebration on Europe especially on Germany from april 30 to may 1. Which is actually the same day where Homura fought Walpurgisnacht. Why witch Walpurgisnacht exist. There's a theory that, multiple Magical girl exist on that same body. Why you can see shadow figure of a girl attacking Homura. Another theory is, Homura's witch but that's already debunked due to *spoiler*... Also don't skip the ending of Episode 12.
Walpurgisnacht, even without her powers, is tough enough to survive 100 of Mami's Tiro Finales. Also, if she ever decides to turn right way up, it would destroy the planet.
hey man I've personally been a fan ever since the aot opening's reaction and would really like to recommend you watch hunter x hunter it is a really good show and I've been watching anime for many years now and can definitely place it as one of the better animes I've watched. Personally just from watching you I think you will really enjoy it and it is decently long so you will have something to watch for a good while. Keep up the good work I'm a big fan of your reactions!
Also, probably they can say that they are magical girl, but normal people that doesn't see supernatural, probably would end thining they are weird or worse, and karma would hit them... it's like for the superheroes...
Remember how you asked why Homura didn't always follow Madoka or why she didn't always kill QBY? It's because she was preparing all the time against Walpurgis with weapons. Unfortunately, physical weapons don't hurt her, only the magic of other magical girls. QBY took advantage of this to make Homura understand that the problem of Madoka's importance was her fault in order to get her off her back. Thee episode 11 is the perfect time to see the ending at the end before the last episode :') I like it a lot that type of details I need to explain something to you, in the middle of the anime and the 3rd movie there is a manga. Many questions you are going to ask will possibly be answered with that little manga, is Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica: "Wraith Arc" or "Majuu Hen". Have 9 chapters so is very light Sorry for the bad english
There is the thing they say that magical girls will lead to pain, their wish will lead to pain, so even Homura wish led to pain. If Madoka was just average with no extraordinary potential Kyubey wouldn`t be so insisting on making her one. If she didn`t wish to never be one in front of Homura maybe she would`ve left it all end although giving how obsessed with Madoka she is I doubt
Remember that Homura has tried many times and always it ended badly. There probably is an actual timeline where she warned Madoka that she would destroy the world as a witch, and it still didn't help.
WHAT IS THIS ENDING??????

Also Walpurgis Nacht is so powerful, she no longer feels the need to hide inside a labyrinth and just floats around completely out in the open.
Oh thank you for this!!
(Go compare the two scenes if you don't know what I'm talking about)
@@stephenpriestspoilers....
@@stephenpriest Hmmmm...... yeah, kinda similar.
Also, spoilers.
@@SerMon22 lol, why do people keep telling me that my comment has spoilers when I literally already marked that at the beginning of my comment.
I hope he does watch it
Could you please tell me? Cause I've watched the anime and the 3rd movie only so idk what did I miss.

not really spoilery much ahead, but warning for others regardless
latter 'chairs in the grass field' scene becomes more impactful and that's pretty much it. other than that it's just an enjoyable op
@@kaanami The luminous scene
I guess we now know what Homura was doing whenever she wasn't protecting (stalking?) Madoka; she raided some Army Bases with the help of her timestop for some heavy weaponry :D
absolutely destroyed some guy's career. hell, there was probably significant jail time for losing such weaponry.

@@sirmoonslosthismind "How the hell do you lose a SUBMARINE!?"
When the doll's usual upside-down position reaches the top part of the witch, she completely roils the civilization on the ground in a flash through her gale-like flight."
The weapon that looks like Homura's shield is actually a sand timer.
If you do wanna watch it though it is on UA-cam and it does have captions in English so you can read the lyrics ua-cam.com/video/CMVmuUxRofs/v-deo.html
That also was not Sayaka's Mother, that was the teacher.
It's especially good when, once the hero's solution is revealed, it's obvious in hindsight.
the 3rd film ("Rebellion") is a continuation of the series. the 1st and 2nd is a retelling of the series with a new opening.
Important: there is an after-credits scene in episode 12! Don't miss it.
Imagine a possible reality where the series ended with Madoka being pushed down the stairs, tripping and dying, and then Homura giving up and becoming a witch
that sounds funny
The one time Homura finally defeats Walpurgisnacht and then she gets back to the shelter to find Madoka died falling down stairs

You will be VERY CONFUSED at the beginning so just go algo with it, it will answer your questions as the movie progress just like the anime
2. There's a post credits scene so don't skip that
It's the sunk cost fallacy (although not really a fallacy in this case, for reasons of the next episode)
But once she realized that going back in time again would just make things worse, it felt hopeless, and she only then was about to turn into a Witch, like Kyubey says.
I think kuubey being like this this time on purpose, becouse this really is the way to make homura emotional
So, fun fact
One of the magical girls that was shown in the little history section was Joan of Arc
And there's actually a whole spinoff manga about her, "Puella Magi Tart Magica"
If you like Madoka and history I'd definitely give it a read

Night (if you want to pronounce it as Nacht, just huff out the CH, as if you were breathing out)
It is called Walpurgisnacht, but it is pronounced by them as Walpurgis no Yoru, wich means Night of Walpurgis.
25:02 how good has to be a mother/daugther relationship to do that? Not blind trust but one build in a long time
12:15 Homura does not tell Madoka the truth because after a few dozen loops where she tried telling the truth, nobody believes her.
We see one of those in chap 10, when Sayaka replies that there is no reason for Kyubei to trick them like that.
And when Mami is faced with the realization that they will all become witches, she kills Sayoko and tries to kill Homura.
So...... yeah...... no, she won't try telling them again.

I found Kyube's explanation of how their system works both fascinating and oddly scientific!
As she falls to despair, the interim emotional energy is what is harvested (somehow).

about what you said in the 22 minute mark. is not that it already happened. is becouse, even if she decides to not make the wish at all, the timeline ends in one way or the other, or she needs to make the wish to save her parents becouse the refuge is in danger becouse of walpurgis, or becouse she ends up making the wish to help homura in the battle for one reason or the other.
Here's a quick rundown using Madoka as an example:
Ki (起): Introduction : Madoka and friends
Sho (承): Development : Learn about being magical girls
Ten (転): Recontextualization/shift/twist/non-sequitur : but it's really Homura's story
Ketsu (結): Reconciliation : and now we see what happens.
Watching you discover my favorite anime is great
The reason why it is good to watch the OP of the first movie is because by watching it you can understand more about the rebellion.
no se ingles pero como me gustas tus reacciones
i really have had good fun with seeing the series through ur reactions it a good way to get a fresh take on the series. is to what's next episode 12 then the movie rebellion and ya there is a manga serris wraith arc is the english name that ties things together and gives more details then there is a second series in the madoka universe called magia record how it plays into the 4th madoka movie not sure.
u ask allot of the write questions and have allot of good observations on things never really thought about but now becouse u pointed them out i do think about.
thank you for sharing your reactions.
There'll be a new movie four coming up in 2024!
Remember when you asked in previous episodes why Homura was sometimes slow to show up?
This is why. She was putting down the groundwork for this.
3rd movie is to watch, and they announced new one recently!
ep12 + 3rd movie. anything else is just extras.
To be honest, i was corrupted by philosophy of Incubator. For example, relationship between humans and animals is good deal for me.
Maybe, i was too young, then watched madoka first time.
Thank you for sharing your journey!
There's no real reason to react to the opening of the first movie other than you'll see some character bits and hear the OP song. I wouldn't complain if you did, but you won't actually miss anything that matters if you don't. (As a side note, the two recap movies have several instances of new animation or improved existing animation throughout, but nothing necessary to see if you've watched the show.)
Then the third movie actually continues the story.
I love hanging around to hear your theories 🖤
and the next and final ep .... nobody was ready for this
Yes. From chapter 12, go into the third movie, Rebellion.
Then, we'll have to wait until the fourth movie hits theaters.
The third movie would be next. The first two movies just cover the same material the 12 episode anime did.
Her strength is just specialized in non-combat ways. By the terms of her wish, she's ALWAYS stronger than Madoka, no matter how strong Madoka becomes.
Madoka uses pure magic attacks while Homura can't use magic offensively.
oh interesting, that makes Sense. Still leaves the Question how Homura can be considered stronger than Madoka@@Kaylakaze
@@dieblauebedrohung You'll just have to wait for Rebellion.
Akemi Homura
Akemi" means a beautiful dawn in Japanese,
Homura" means a blazing fire.
I have heard that in the festival of Walpurgis, a fire is kept burning from night to dawn.
Perhaps they are two sides of the same coin, as you have sensed.
I'm pretty sure Mami always looked like that.
this anime is so similar to higurashi is so many places but in the strangest ways
The worst thing is waiting until the reaction to episode 12 appears.
"Why are they like this" is a point we all get to with Madoka eventually. Being Meguca is Suffering. X'D
the more hard homura tried to save madoka, the situation just getting worst, this really crush homura’s heart
and Walpurgisnacht is the most strongest witch on history, not much details were told, but according to one interview of this show’s director, she kept floating upside down, if she fight seriously, she will reverse herself. which means homura was never a threat to her😢
Walpurugisnacht is powerful but she isn't the strongest compared to the most powerful 3 witches in history: Belonging to Madoka, Joan d'arc and Isabeau.
(The most powerful witch of course is Madoka's witch)
There's a theory why Walpurgisnacht is so powerful is because of Homura also.
SOOJIN (Ex-(G)I-DLE) dropped 'BLACK FOREST'. She will release her 1st EP on November 8.
JINI (Ex-NMIXX) dropped 'C'mon (Feat. Aminé)' M/V
Ohhhhh I can hardly wait til the next episode
beig meguca is suffering
Meduka is beauty
I defeat Brazilian night
Walpurgisnacht, even without her powers, is tough enough to survive 100 of Mami's Tiro Finales. Also, if she ever decides to turn right way up, it would destroy the planet.
kyoko's father found out about her wish and her activities and murdered her entire family then himself
Imagine being the JSDF guy that had to report a missing frigate.
hey man I've personally been a fan ever since the aot opening's reaction and would really like to recommend you watch hunter x hunter it is a really good show and I've been watching anime for many years now and can definitely place it as one of the better animes I've watched. Personally just from watching you I think you will really enjoy it and it is decently long so you will have something to watch for a good while. Keep up the good work I'm a big fan of your reactions!
Didn't you know if a cow and a human love eachother very very much the stork brings a beef steak to them
Go for the third movie please
The pictures at the end are fanmade... it even says who drew it in the bottom... so not necessarily really descriptive of the plot...
Also, probably they can say that they are magical girl, but normal people that doesn't see supernatural, probably would end thining they are weird or worse, and karma would hit them... it's like for the superheroes...
The final next!! Hype!!
Thee episode 11 is the perfect time to see the ending at the end before the last episode :') I like it a lot that type of details
I need to explain something to you, in the middle of the anime and the 3rd movie there is a manga. Many questions you are going to ask will possibly be answered with that little manga, is Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica: "Wraith Arc" or "Majuu Hen". Have 9 chapters so is very light
Sorry for the bad english
The next episode will break you. I love and hate that last episode so much.
29:07 Not quite… Madoka isn't that selfish.
U might or might not know by this point, but the walpurgisnacht is pronounced wall-purg-iss-noct
Homura doesn't care about the world only Madoka
In the second redo she said to madoka to destroy the world together.
MAN WE HAVE TO WAIT A WHOLE WEEK FOR THE NEXT REACTION! NOOOOOO!!!
Remember that Homura has tried many times and always it ended badly. There probably is an actual timeline where she warned Madoka that she would destroy the world as a witch, and it still didn't help.
