My thoughts exactly. My homes woodwork, walls, floors, etc are covered in someone's trendy projects from different eras that we are undoing: sponge painting, painting woodwork, fake tile vinyl, etc
Bro, this woman did not "just found it and tried it out" she's done wood work before I can guarantee you, with her sander and all coating materials and this and thar right.... she's been working with wood for a while. She's a pro. This is like those reddit posts "my first time oil painting" and then it's it's masterpiece.
Once she cleaned the original up, the wood underneath looked really lovely. I was like oh no she’s going to paint that beautiful wood and then I couldn’t watch anymore.
Now when she gets rid of it, someone is going to make a video about discovering 'beautiful wood furniture that someone just covered in paint and popsicle sticks'. Such is the circle of life... Edit: This is the first comment I've ever made that's gotten even over 100 likes. I feel famous... like I need to get a pair of really large sunglasses and tell people "do you even know who I am?!".
@@yvonnemejia224 the problem is that it will be harder for that person to restore into a good looking product. When she throws this out, nobody is going to want it because it will likely look like trash. She destroyed the recyclability of this piece by covering it in paint, cheap wood and glue.
Yes, it turned out very pretty, and I love the beige over the sage green so many of these pieces end up. But you covered all that beautiful wood! 😢 I would have loved to see it with a simple stain!

I'm definitely a wood furniture lover, so the paint makes me sad when I would have just wanted to change the stain. But the end result does look like someone else's aesthetic done well.

I'm a woodworker, a neighbor asked me what kind of paint they should use on a solid maple table that will be durable. I said "I'd advise you not to paint it and to finish it in a way that brings out the natural beauty, I'm happy to help" She is going to have me help her. Another beautiful piece of furniture saved from this crap.

Just because it’s wood doesn’t mean it’s aesthetically pleasing. People that are too caught up with the price and traditional value of materials can’t pull together a cohesive, and aesthetically pleasing living space. The paint added a clean look to a traditionally shaped piece of furniture, and it fits well with the color scheme of the room.

I wouldnt call that a natural wood, and honestly i normally HATE when people "update" furniture like this but i thought it looked really nice. that reddish tone of wood that they originally were is very dated and out of style. When i saw the popsicle sticks i paused and waited for things to go very very wrong but honestly, theyre just wood! and she made it look like it belonged.
Well I agree with you, it looks hideous, it looks way worse than it was before. However as somebody who's assembled furniture, I can promise you that's not "natural wood" it's a laminate and particle board. You can tell when she sended it down, it has no wood grain

That’s nice and all, but you ruined a perfectly good hard wood piece. Don’t paint good wood. Correct the wood, then stain it. Pieces like this are getting harder and harder to find. You just took a perfectly good piece of furniture, and turned it into something that looks nice, but won’t age well, and will be significantly harder to restore in the future because of all the paint and glue you put onto it. If you want a modern piece of furniture, buy a modern piece of furniture.

I personally loved how they originally looked (at least through the screen, I know that in person it can be different) but the end product is gorgeous! Not my personal style but great job! Personally, when things are actual wood instead of composite I prefer to see the character of the wood even when battered. I also love color and texture so when something is composite or needs far too much repair something like this is great. I’m also a fan of brushed gold hardware when it fits with the rest of the piece
