As you were clearly so close to your father and he must be responsible in part for your talent at decoration and your lovely joyful personality, it would be a treat for us to see some photos of your father working at the Chateau with you and working on his art work. Best wishes to you Stephanie XX
I've been binge watching your lovely videos! I would love to see the untouched parts of the chateau , the attics the basement, the dusty hidden areas because to me that is a little part of the history. There is beauty in the imperfections too! 💙
You have fantastic perspective! I love your attitudes about using things and having them break rather than unused and forgotten and showing life as a Work In Progress, rather than never-at-all. In another video, too, you mentioned, "The house has stood for hundreds of years. It will stand a little longer" and how important it is to have beauty! Many of these attitudes come at a *literal* cost and it's so tempting to resist these truths. I love that you are not shy about expressing these ideals and boldly go after them. Just terrific!
I have to say all the things you have done in your kitchen is the things women have done in old farm houses in America. It’s a huge fad to restore farm houses here, so we can understand your thoughts in converting things at low expense. This Chateau of yours is just beautiful and you have done a great job.
What a difference you have made Stephanie. Your kitchen is beautiful and full of interest, no wonder you love it. I cannot believe anybody could enjoy their food in the previous incarnation the food probably was as tasteless as the decor. The food you and your team serve always looks colourful and delicious. I too like renovating old houses and enjoy what you are doing in your wonderful chateau. Bizz, bizz, Swan
I have been inspired by your decorating ideas. I don't have a chateau or even a country kitchen but I have been collecting things for years and now have them out on display.
Exactly the way to do it, room by room and it is fascinating and you allow us all to follow your journey, large cornicing would be wonderful. What is your ultimate dream for Lalande ? is it still having an auditorium for hosting workshops and performances of Opera ! Love the new cooker it is beautiful, does it operate on Fuel or Electricity for convenience ! How large are the electric bills ! enormous I presume. Stephanie love the Spode, me too and it is on my kitchen dresser and now I shall make a spice rack ! Thankyou for that tip. Lovely to see your kitchen, lovely kitchen full of atmosphere and beautiful things and beautiful people. Another fantastic Vlog . Thankyou x
I believe Chateau de La Lande found Stephanie, the most perfect person for this magical treasure. Along w/ the special people in her life, Mommy, Daddy, Gerald (ScottMan) Nick & Michael.
I don't know how I've fallen into this internet rabbit hole but I'm glad I did. What a soothing video and what a charming and beautiful woman. Your story should be turned into a movie.
Blue & White - pretty non-fail elegance, style and timelessness for any room, anywhere, isn't it? it looks lovely in your kitchen. So interesting to see your 'before and afters' - will look forward to more as time goes on. (LONGING to see more of the Chapel as it is still so full of original features - which you are restoring beautifully). Thank you!
Such monumental efforts you and your family have made to restore and reveal the beauty of Lalande!🐓 “All will be revealed in the fullness of time.” (Percy-TCD-082 ❤️) Thanks Stephanie for including us on your journey!🦚
I love your kitchen so much, so warm and welcoming like a kitchen should be. Thank-you for sharing it with us in detail. I truly can’t wait to see the rest of your beautiful chateau! 🌸
I now play the lottery hoping to see projects through at Chateau de Lalande. Her plans to restore the outbuildings bring me so much excitement and I just want to see it happen.
So fun watching you all dance to a Cameo song! Word up! The kitchen is beautiful. I like the fact that everyone sit downs to dine together....similar to how an entire castle gathered for each meal in the great hall regardless of their rank or function. You may have been sitting "below the salt" but you were at least in the room!
Thank you for sharing your home with us. What a magical trip you are taking us on ! Love Love Love your kitchen . And knowing all the details makes it even more cozy ! Best improvement are the two doors, brilliant !!! Looking forward for more rooms !! I am Georgette Jones twin sister. She is in Indiana , USA. I am in California . And we getting together every Sunday with you for tea . Even though we are hundreds of miles apart ❗️
I love Percy. He's a good man and a wonderful addition to your family. The immeasurable loss of your father, however, can be heard in many of your vlogs : ( You were fortunate to have had such a close bond the two of you xx
Its always nice to hear you refer to your dad in your vlogs, so it was nice to see him feature in an early photo of your kitchen. Life often doesn't follow the plan we would like, but I'm sure he would be very proud of what you have achieved. As a previous poster remarked, Channel 4 should give you your own show. Life at your place is always interesting, entertaining and often educational.
I can just imagine - if those walls could talk of all the gatherings around the table, meals prepared and festivities over the many years 🍽🥂👑🏰. Just wonderful and so interesting. Your kitchen is beautiful and so inviting. It must have been so exciting to explore the Chateau to find all these treasures and bring back to life the originality of this magnificent home 🏰. Thank you once again Stephanie 💛. I am in the the mood for tea and Croissants now ☕🥐. Have a lovely Sunday 💛🌸 Beautiful blessings Mandy 👑SA
I am commenting on the video about the renovation of the kitchen. On what you are calling a large “Cupboard”. Stephanie, on the Cupboard, ( what we in the States would describe as an armoire or a cabinet, thus very large & very old storage unit. I am curious about the tag with a Hebrew inscription. Now if my sweet Jack had been still alive when I first noticed it, I would have this episode up on my largest screen and it would have said to him, “Jack, please read the Hebrew on the tag hanging from the door of this large cabinet in the kitchen if this fabulous chateau in France.” He would have leaned over and looked carefully at it and he’d have read it out loud and then he’d have put me out of my misery and translated it. But alas he is no longer with us. Jack would have definitely loved watching Chateau Diaries and he’d have said, “Megan, we must make reservations and go to Chateau de Lalande and meet Stephanie.” And I would have agreed. Can you tell me what the Hebrew tag says? Please, Megan
Beautiful kitchen. I can’t live in a museum either but with some things Im like your mom. For those like me who didn’t know what coving was: Cove molding performs the same function in the same place on wall as crown molding. The main difference is the profile; cove molding has a concave profile, which bows inward, while crown molding has a convex, flatter appearance that projects out from the wall. Now I know!
Really like the kitchen and love all the blue and white china. I have collected it for years too and today I just bought a Spode Tea Pot and butter dish in honour of La Lande. So loving your series and watch it daily. Much love to you!
Brilliant Stephanie, I also had to get rid of our Aga in the end. It was one of the very first made. I love your spode. I have, though inherited, some beautiful Wedgwood and spode. A couple of pieces have been signed by Josiah Wedgwood. You have a fabulous life, and so you should with all the hard work you have put in. I hope that you realise your dreams.xxx
Really love the blue and white plate collection. I have collecting vintage plates and cutlery. I have the green version of the blue plates. I really love the way you transformed the kitchen back to a chateau worthy style. So cozy, i can imagine toasty winters in that kitchen. I also love dancing every time I am cooking in my tiny kitchen, I am so glad to find out I am not the only one. hahaha. About living in a museum - you have encouraged me to use my collection more and not worry about whether they will break. Will get friends over more often to use them....Catching up on your videos and I cannot wait for the next ones already. Such a pleasure to watch your journey...
I lv lv lv that I found you guys... thank u for your detail.. your enthusiasm and your love for your dream home... its AMAZING.... I LV all the details you give us.... we are living vicariously thru u.. what a wonderful place... you stories come to life with your love if telling them... im fascinated... binge watching now..lol... hello from fort worth Texas. You have a new fan
I love your kitchen, I love all of the vintage crockery. The super fancy coving will look amazing when completed, definitely worth waiting for. I am looking forward to seeing the renovations of all the rooms so far x
Good morning❣️ LOVED this please do each room. I love your look this morning, jewelry is amazing. My sister in California sent me a picture of her at the Chateau you visited this week, the information you shared amazed her. Looking at the stove and realizing our Grandmere was born around the time of the newspaper article warmed my 💜 . Thank you again for making my Sunday morning so sweet.
How exciting to see your kitchen transformation - sympathetically renovated to date. All most interesting. Love that you've kept the range and the table for posterity especially. I lived in part of the Mitford's family home for 18 years and uncovered some of Nancy's original wall paintings that she had done in the early 1920's - amazing! Also, the temperature there would drop to minus 11 degrees in the winter months, at which point all the old lead pipes would freeze! I thought I was the only one who strapped a warm hot water bottle to myself for survival but clearly you have had the same ingenious idea!
@@TheChateauDiaries I lived in The Barn part of Asthall Manor from 1978 - 1996. Lord Redesdale had the barn converted from an agricultural barn to the Mitford girls bedrooms upstairs and a ball room and library block downstairs in the 1920's. I had the use of the whole of this space so it was pretty large and hence why it was so cold as the original boiler had broken many years before and had never been repaired. I didn't take any photos of my discovery (didn't do that sort of thing so much then!) I have, however, found a link to a photograph on pinterest of what was Nancy's bedroom and also my bedroom! If you look in the far left hand corner, you will see the painting of 2 men duelling with swords over a lady dressed in a crinoline. There were also 2 delphiniums (on the right hand side - can't see them very well) above the fireplace. There was also supposed to be a picture of a small devil that she painted but I never found that! The paintings had been preserved with newspaper and then covered with wallpaper so had never been seen for decades when I uncovered them - all so exciting - I remember it well! Fantastic vlog by the way....So love, your Chateau, super beautiful...would love to visit one day! Hope you have an awesome week....look forward to Thursdays vlog :D
Hi! Stephanie, your videos are getting better and better! Loving them and this is my absolute favorite, so inspiring to see what you have achieved thus far. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks so much! That's lovely to hear. I'm really enjoying making this new series of Sunday videos, I feel I can explain a lot more about chateau life in them!
So glad to see you brought the kitchen back to a classic farm style. Everyone needs a Butlers Pantry as well. We live in a small Period Cottage, and I turned the kitchen into a Bootroom/Pantry. I then turned the dining room into a large farmhouse kitchen, Aga included of course. Even small spaces can have Farmhouse tables & Bootrooms. You did a fantastic job, adore the videos & your talent is boundless!
I loved your video with your story about early years at the chateau and the transformation. You are a great storyteller, my students often tell me that, now I see another!
Just days ago I stumbled across your channel...I am obsessed! I am so happy to have found your channel! I love seeing all of the updates and history of the chateau, how you all have such an eye to preserve its beauty & reuse the materials you already have! I'm sure it can be challenging but you guys have made so many memories & are in the best company! I am sharing your videos will all my family! Thank you for entertaining and inspiring me! Much love from Arizona🙂🦎🐍🌵
You are so delightful, I love listening to you.. thank you for buying this Château , and sharing it with all of us that may never experience life there 🌹❤️🌹
Those picturesque views at either side of the kitchen are so beautiful! Love the well worn huge table. Also that plate rack! & would like to see the little room in the back. Love this blog!
So good to finally see your father - although, just a short side shot. Blessed be his soul and the great memories that he passed onto all of you there. xo L
Loved this and your kitchen is beautiful now we know more about how it came to be it makes it far more than s kitchen can not wait for next week maybe one week we can have a good nose around the chapel. X
I bet you slept with socks and mittens and even a toque with 10c temperatures. OMG, I have the same tea towel from Raffles Hotel. I am of the same mindset, Stephanie, that nothing is held for ransom in my home--hidden behind glass or locked within a sideboard. Everything is used and enjoyed and that is what creates memories. I agree, make the coving grand even beyond the realms of opulence. You deserve that. Thanks. Darryl
Hello I love the renovation because it looks as if that's the way it's always been. Rustic and charming. I'm glad you put insulation. I have none. Lots of love to you. Xx
I try to make all of the rooms look as though they have always looked that way - which is not always easy when dealing with rooms that have been altered in the 70s!
@@TheChateauDiaries that would certainly be a big challenge. Well done. Many fell victim to the seventies even here in Italy. Great work Stephanie. It's so worth it.
I'd really enjoy hearing how the"work away" system works...how do you decide who comes when & for how long? Is it based on their skills? Any issues of not partnering certain people at same time? How do some people manage to be at chateau so often? If this information is included somewhere else/different vlog, please let us know. Am so glad a friend recommended I check your vlogs out! Have made it 1/2 way thru the "in order" videos.... such interesting, enlightening, & enjoyable times spent!
Ditto from me for this request. I find this part fascinating and am keen to know more because it always seems so harmonious, but there must be work and effort behind the scenes to manage the people side of the Chateaux just so perfectly.
Enjoying these back episodes... a though with regards to the kitchen cabinets, could you not get Michael to paint them with faux pannels as he did in the green bedroom? Or perhaps Selmar could make you a new set of doors that could then be antiqued.
Have just discovered YOU...am most grateful...your Sunday briefings are a great idea for a regular catchup..the kitchen no matter how many rooms is always the heart ♥ where everyone loves to gather...eating and dancing..or both..merci..😍
Thank you so much for sharing your diy journey . We are converting an old bank into a home and family day care in Queensland . It's filled with love and fun and I think that's why I enjoy your Chateau Diaries and Sundays with tea. It gives me a rest and time for a cup of tea and fills me with new ideas. Thank you so much. Janfrey
Your kitchen is so beautiful. I love the care you have taken to reclaim and reuse. I just found you several days ago and find you so inspirational. Thank you for your jolie de vivre! With love from Arizona in the US.
Thank you for sharing Stephanie! I absolutely love your videos! I have been binge watching them from the beginning and I am anxious to get to the present! I am a tiny house person but I do thoroughly love watching and learning about life in a french chateau! So glamorous! See you again tomorrow for a few more episodes! A demain!
I’ll definitely make one of those, but not just yet as unfortunately we’ve had a big drought this summer and everything is yellow! Luckily it’s going to rain all week 🌧
Thank you so much, I really enjoyed learning about the kitchen renovation, loved that. I’d love to hear about every room😂🤣😂, I’m not too greedy as I ? I know it’s a lot of work for you though so as much as you can, when you can please. I envy you your lovely Chateau and all the friends and family that enjoy living and working there. I live quite an isolated life right now and it lonely so being able to watch others lives helps me so much. Thank you . 🙋🏼
I'm loving these room by room videos! I missed them 4 years ago. I agree, I must use my dishes much more!!!!!
As you were clearly so close to your father and he must be responsible in part for your talent at decoration and your lovely joyful personality, it would be a treat for us to see some photos of your father working at the Chateau with you and working on his art work. Best wishes to you Stephanie XX
You make everything so warm, welcoming and fun! You need your own TV show! I hope Channel 4 is paying attention 😊
I've been binge watching your lovely videos! I would love to see the untouched parts of the chateau , the attics the basement, the dusty hidden areas because to me that is a little part of the history.
There is beauty in the imperfections too! 💙
Whatever you talk and show Stephanie is so interesting I don’t want you to stop. Keep the vlogs coming please.
I’m going back to all the videos I’ve missed! I love this!

So good to finally see your father - although, just a short side shot. Blessed be his soul and the great memories that he passed onto all of you there. xo L

I’m glad i’m not the only one with this dream! You inspired me to not let go of that dream 💕
💖💖💖
The kitchen is the heart of the home and usually where parties end up :-)
Warm , light and beautiful the dual aspect doors are beautiful.
Love the kitchen table ,the fact that you use beautiful things and the blue spode❤️
I bet you slept with socks and mittens and even a toque with 10c temperatures. OMG, I have the same tea towel from Raffles Hotel. I am of the same mindset, Stephanie, that nothing
is held for ransom in my home--hidden behind glass or locked within a sideboard. Everything is used and enjoyed and that is what creates memories. I agree, make the coving grand
even beyond the realms of opulence. You deserve that. Thanks.
Darryl
Wonderful room! Thanks for sharing.
Your videos feed my soul. Thank you!
Just delightful, you and family and friends make me regret what I have missed in life. One just can’t have enough laughter. Thank you.
This is the loveliest kitchen I have ever seen.
Enjoying these back episodes... a though with regards to the kitchen cabinets, could you not get Michael to paint them with faux pannels as he did in the green bedroom? Or perhaps Selmar could make you a new set of doors that could then be antiqued.
Thank you Stephenie for showing the before and after photos of your kitchen,it looks so homely. I can’t wait for next weeks blog.😀
Beautiful kitchen, what a warm, wonderful place to connect with family, friends and guests!
All rooms! Love it. You are living the dream.....can't wait to hear know the history of every room ❤❤❤ Thank you x
That chaise lounge is perfection!!
Oh I love what you’ve done to the kitchen. It’s charming and warm and cozy too.
Have just discovered YOU...am most grateful...your Sunday briefings are a great idea for a regular catchup..the kitchen no matter how many rooms is always the heart ♥ where everyone loves to gather...eating and dancing..or both..merci..😍
Beautiful kitchen,
Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your diy journey . We are converting an old bank into a home and family day care in Queensland . It's filled with love and fun and I think that's why I enjoy your Chateau Diaries and Sundays with tea. It gives me a rest and time for a cup of tea and fills me with new ideas. Thank you so much. Janfrey
Adore the kitchen and the beautiful delights you all cook in it ❤️🦘❤️🦘❤️
Your kitchen is so beautiful. I love the care you have taken to reclaim and reuse. I just found you several days ago and find you so inspirational. Thank you for your jolie de vivre! With love from Arizona in the US.

O I love your kitchen!
love watching you and seeing all you have done to the chateau I will keep watching and recommend to my friends please don't stop blogging ,
Thank you for sharing Stephanie! I absolutely love your videos! I have been binge watching them from the beginning and I am anxious to get to the present! I am a tiny house person but I do thoroughly love watching and learning about life in a french chateau! So glamorous! See you again tomorrow for a few more episodes! A demain!
Beautiful kitchen tour. I would love to see a tour of the grounds and garden surrounding the chateau.
Thank you . 🙋🏼
