I can tell you have put so much hardwork into decluttering and maintaining your home. It really shows with the amount of extra storage space you have. That takes a lot of discipline and dedication!
We've been doing a big declutter since 2020/21. We have some spaces like basement and garage to finish. I like seeing your monthly declutters. It reminds me that every small thing we get rid of helps. I have a large paper shopping bag full and ready for Goodwill today.
One of my favorite bedding hacks especially for kids bedding is to layer a waterproof mattress pad between sets of sheets directly on the bed. Then you don’t have to store or organize the extra fitted sheets. When someone has an accident in the night, just pull off the top sheet and pad and you have another clean sheet and pad below ready to go! It’s saved us so much hassle in the night and I don’t have to organize those extra sheets.
Going thru "camp" stuff...my adult special needs daughter goes to a summer camp and they finally restarted it after having to stop for the last couple of years...clothes, bedding, etc...
I love to get this feedback. I never know what people prefer. Because of the noise level in my home I have to do a little of both. Also I felt back for the whispering, but my little one was sleeping so much that day.

@@shannontorrens1 Lol. Thanks! Oh Lawd. I was so stuck and lost for years with that both trying and not trying. Like 🤯🤯 Just getting into a vicious cycle of frustration and exasperation with it. We are thinking in a few years moving to a townhouse. I’ve found your program has good information to help us pare everything down now instead of waiting. It will make a move less stressful.
Hi! We do sheets weekly, and just put right back on (one set per bed). Our boys wash their own, but they are older, 9 and 13 and we haven't needed a spare in the middle of the night for a few years now. So when accident stage was over, we went down to 1 set per bed. Love your channel!
Thanks for sharing about the vintage bowls. I looked up my mom's Hall's Superior Quality Kitchenware bowl and they had a high amount of lead in them too. I think I will save a couple of them use as a planter so it's useful and will hold the memory of my mom. God bless you and yours!
I rarely travel, but I keep my travel sized products (including a toothbrush) in a makeup bag at all times. When I do travel I just grab the bag and I'm set! No need to go through a drawer to find the stuff then pack it. 🙂
It is great to have an empty drawer. I try to have an empty drawer or shelf in each room. I launder my sheets every week. Monthly I wash the mattress pad and wash the pillows and flip the mattress. I line dry the bed linens and they smell so wonderful!
Ok well I am,packing up a rental house that we have been renting for year while we build our dream home. We are looking at our CO now in three weeks so I am now repacking the items we have here and donating more items…..so much ahead of me…..but off I go!!!
That sounds like such a fun move to look forward to! I actually love moving and the new possibilities that await! Good luck and I hope you love your new place.
Hey, Shannon. I'm doing the laundry, meaning the bedsheets and daily clothes, as minimalists. 😊 Also going throughout the house with a minimalist eye. 👀😄
Great reset Shannon ! The lesson here is do what is best for you (your family) Oh yes, that funky "boy smell", I recall those days 😄 I admire you for letting the Pyrex dishes go (you made someone very happy) It has motivated me to start selling my extensive Fire King collection, as I continue my Swedish death cleaning. Your video's are so satisfying~ "Nanna" Wanda
After reading a lot about this Pyrex situation, almost everyone said the typical lead test didn't pick it up but more extensive lab tests did so instead of taking a chance I thought I would just let them go.
I'm working on resetting my kitchen. I've inherited an air fryer, an Insta-pot & upgraded our waffle maker. Now where to store everything which means getting rid of stuff!🎉😊
I like your sheet folding hack, it makes me want to try it out! I now only fold the fitted sheets twice a year. That’s because I wash and dry my sheets and put them right back on the bed. I only wash and fold them away during the change of seasons. For example, when we change over to Spring/Summer cooling sheets and when we change back to Fall/Winter fleece sheets.
I usually put them right back on too ( I love using that hack). In this situation I had used a winter sheet a week or so ago because my son was sick in the night. I hope you have a nice week! =)
I thought you'd like an update, so I've got my new furniture and it's like a different room! Everything is way more organised, and I can already see if there's things I don't wear much I can easily declutter them. I've even got room for some new clothes, considering I lived in tracksuit pants for the last 3 years. I've also already purged more clothes from my "waiting room" bag, I've got it down to 2 vacuum bags of stuff I can easily store for another year or 2. If I don't get back into them they can go. Our area has a hard rubbish collection next weekend, and Hubby has finished his mother's house and his work yard so we just have to get rid of everything here and he's absolutely raring to go! Miracle!! All we have to do now is stop our youngest son dragging the neighbours junk back here 🤣 Out of the 3 kids he loves thrifting the most, which on the one hand is great because he doesn't have to have everything brand new like the other 2, but on the other it's hard to get him to let go of ANYTHING.
It sounds like you are doing amazing!!! I love hearing your story and what is working for you. It's hard when you like to thrift, I had to stop doing that when I decided to become minimalist. But I also have a soft spot for all the secondhand things. I hope you are having a good weekend. =)
Love the video with all the tips about things along the way. You are a great example of keeping a home serene by limiting all the “stuff”. It is worth the effort.
Shannon, I really enjoyed this video. You do such a wonderful job of explaining your thinking about your home organization. Your discipline to keep clutter at bay is remarkable! And the “boy smell “ ….. it really is “a thing” 😂. Fond memories as I’m 73 now. That smell travels with them to the car, too. 😂😂😂

Another awesome video, Shannon. I'm not doing any decluttering at the time as I've been really busy outside. So much to do. I have a few more flowers to plant and 4 tomato plants to finally get in the ground. It has been so extremely hot for us here so I haven't done a lot outside at a time cuz it's just so hot with the humidity. Little by little. We've been up to 20 degrees above average. We sure didn't have much spring again this year. It went into summer too fast. Your flowers outside look absolutely beautiful! I LOVE flowers!!! Have a wonderful Sunday.
