Double switches are your friend. You can save a whole lot of bother it you link some of the tracks going in and coming out of stations with cross over tracks with double switches on them. There's no need to put separate switches in, then. The reason the platforms are unavailable is because passengers can't get to them. You need to put some underpasses in on the passenger platforms.

There’s a mod for double train tracks, also a mod to se the signals through the track (you can adjust how far apart they are)

I'm at the 24 min mark. I think the reason you haven't got the passenger platforms to work is you have no way for the passengers to get from 1 platform to another (undergound connection). Try that and see if it works.

you need to replace your signals with one way signals... also if you have a criss cross you dont need two ways onto a platform

You should have a big train import stuff into Fresno then small trains export the items to the different individual cities tht the Fresno food line has...basically using Fresno as a gateway distribution hub to the Pacific Northwest

your lights need to be spaced out based on the largest train on the route. if a train cant fit between 2 lights they are not setup well.

That's the rule after the junctions. There must be enough space for the train to fit there and not block the junction. Otherwise, the more the signals the better.
