The fact that Asami went from singing R&B and some Soul/Jazz to this, is mind blowing to me. Incredible, unparalleled talent. She literally knew nothing about Metal music. She literally learned about Metallica , Judas Priest etc from the other members and stuff. In 2018 during their first European tour, she said jokingly in an interview she is in second grade in metal ( the band formed in 2016). At the start she was shy and awkward on stage and now.. now she rules, she is taking names, she takes no prisoners. She also did ballet lessons when she was younger and it shows. Other female vocalists in metal bands try to be one of the guys, but Asami and the rest of the band are unapologetically female and they are kicking ass in dresses and in heels. The talent on display is astounding.
Someone told me that about Asmai in a Alious React on here... I got it wrong on who from Lovebites came out of another band, they corrected me and IMPRESSIVE on Asami, I would have never guessed that in my wildest dreams lol
Asami deserve for such good reaction, she is great vocalist one of the best in rock/metal genre. Four years ago, when I was listening to the first song Crusade, it was her strong clear vocal that got my attention. Great.
Hey David! This is probably their most progressive song, i agree. How the song starts and how it evolves, what a beautiful composition. The shift when the lights go red and Haruna starts riding that bell, just an amazing transition. And then there's Asami the perfect voice for Lovebites! She trully is fantastic, and to think she used to sing RnB and Soul only, she really has adapted perfectly to this band. They released 2 new videos last month, you know what to do! Another great video, stay safe.
This is a song from the encore, Asami had already sang 15 songs at this concert and is still able to go so high and clean? Amazing!!! Having a guitarist who is also a pianist is great, love to see (and hear) Miyako on the grand piano. The musicianship in this band is excellent and Asami is a great frontwoman. I like your reactions, showing me the details of their performance that explains, why LOVEBITES are such a great live band.
I think this song is a masterpiece. I love the intensity of the song and the build-up. I could go on but you have already stated all that I would say about talent, songwriting etc. What I liked was how they all just stood on the stage, not moving much, and just let the song move you. Yes, we all like to see singers and the musicians moving around and grooving to the song on stage. But sometimes, the song itself is all the movement they need and this song is perfect for just that.
LOVEBITES - Edge Of The World lyrics: Why do we learn to hate, deceive and lie, hurt each other? Why does it never end? The sorrow keeps on repeating Wailing, come downpours of the rain Will it end? No one ever knows Wondering, what only time can tell What is at the end of life? Why do we only see our own desires? Re your comments on Miyako's playing technique of the piano intro. You have probebly been told this before but Miyako (black hair guitarist & pianist) has studied clssical piano for twenty-seven of her current thirty years and she plays to concert performance standard. During the Zepp Diver Cty concert she played a difficult Chopin Etude as an introduction to 'Swan Song'. The piano is her first instrument and the guitar her second. She started teaching herself to play guitar at university.and In her early twenties she played in an all female death metal band called GoDeath which later gave birth to her second band, a metalcore band, called A Drop of Joker in 2013.
Awesome new reaction to my favorite band, thank you so much !! Just an advice for your next reactions to them, enable subtitles, cause the lyrics from LOVEBITES, all written by Asami, are always really awesome and touching !
OMG the lighter side of Lovebites is still epic!!!Love the "Gary Moore" playing by Miyako in this ballad it was sensational. If there was any doubt that these women are insanely talented this song ends that discussion. They shifted gears and each gear was done with total perfection, this band is relentless in the pursuit of perfection and is diverse doing it. We start with the piano, weeping guitar and bluesy vocals, Haruna just drives them on the "ice Bell" and all and then we end up the driving with that diverse Lovebites power sound. Asami's face reminded me of my 3rd grade teacher who would scare Attila the Hun with her stares!!!!! I love the fact Midori got to show she is more than Flash and Shred with that weeping guitar work during the intro. Great writing and arranging in this song and it has Miyako's and Miho's footprint all over it.Despite that some say Asami's vocals don't fit the band, I completely disagree she is perfect and is versatile enough to sound awesome on all the songs these women can produce no matter how diverse. Great review as always David and if you catch Asami off stage she is so petite and shy you are shocked at the sound she can produce, as a matter they are all petite and yet sound so dynamic on stage, Haruna at 4' 9" is a beast who never stops amazing me, I swear at times she is an android back there.
And tonight, we back again to Lovebites! Hell yeah!!😍 I always Interesting watch your reaction to Lovebites. Because so much explain about the music. Anyway 9.1 is still best scored. I love this song, even maybe not so high speed or power metal. Just softly, progressive and heavy but still so epic. So perfect. I know you like reaction to live performance and live concert. But I suggested for your next reaction to Lovebites is from they two MV new song. The song is "Winds of Transylvania" And "Glory to the world" Hope you check out again. Thank you so much buddy
A little over a month ago I had never even heard of Lovebites or Band-Maid. And now I want to see them both live so badly! There are other groups such as Aldious and Nemophila who are also gaining some attention here on UA-cam. Japan is on fire right now with it's hard rock and metal bands, especially the female bands. Great reaction I really enjoyed every minute of it. Cheers David!! :)
Love these detailed comments/reviews from our good old bro Dave, especially for Lovebites. You should check out their two new videos for songs Winds of Transilvania and Glory to the World. These girls are best metal band in the world right now-only deaf person can claim otherwise. Keep up with Lovebites reactions dude, they truly special... STAY SAFE, STAY METAL!
FEELIN' YOU Zoran!!! Winds Of Transylvania is already in the que, added your name to the requesters. I'll need a link for Glory to the World so I watch the correct video
There is, it is true, a somewhat more sombre mood to this song and the ladies a little more restrained in their performance. It's kind of understandable since the song has a serious theme of death and the contemplation of one's mortality. It's a shame the video cuts off there though. This song was the first part of a two song encore at the end of the set and goes straight into "We the United" when all the girls cut loose and go crazy to end off the show.
It took me a bunch of play-throughs on this to realize the composition has a four part symphonic structure. The First part introduces the primary feel, influences and melodic structure of a dramatic balled. Second does a really nice job of adding dramatic weight. and adds strong elements of sadness. Third part is primary conflict protagonist vs. antagonist bit. Fourth part is the return of the ballad and its resolution. They manage to pull it off seamlessly. I don't hear anyone saying, Well, that was pretentious. Having the music carry the plotline with kind generalized lyrics about life's tribulations, helps keep it from becoming gimmicky.
I think if you listen closely to the sustained high note that Asami straight tones you'll hear just a touch of vibrato at the very end. I think she gets a couple more tenths for just that. Others have mentioned the Gary Moore influenced guitar solo. Kind of a blues infused 80s soul climax on the guitar. So many different genre's meshed together seamlessly on this. I listened to this once a day for a month and a half. It doesn't get old. Still think this is their best song.
Holy hell. Maybe 4 changes , but 10 different melody changes. Sounds like Miyako genius hands on this arrangement with all the girls adding their own stamps on things. Absolute feel, power, melody developing and skill from the girs. Whew, what can't these girls do. Insane !

(Confession--I stopped in the middle. I have to work in the morning. I _WILL_ finish watching later, and I may have another comment then...). RE: piano sustain. Thing is, the lifted damper from using the pedal frees up other, unplayed strings to vibrate sympathetically, which holding down the keys does not. The strings that are easiest to excite sympathetically are those matching higher partials of the played note(s), which sort of, I don't know, lifts the sound. Both techniques are valid, of course, for different applications....
We're trying to find a day that Mrs. Heretic is able to film, it's not easy when she's always working and traveling for work. We will find a day eventually, I promise.
Hard to say, there's a ton of frontwomen I probably haven't seen yet. I will say she's one of the best that I personally have seen, and that includes frontmen as well.
Great reaction and informative review as always. Add my name to the list requesting that you review probably my favourite track by the band... Epilogue. Zepp Diver City 2019 (the year before this).
If I don't pause every 60 seconds, I run the risk of copyright infringement....which leads to the video getting blocked. If the video gets blocked, then no one can see it unless I put it up on the Patreon page. Problem there is, people then have to pay in order to see it...and I really don't want to take peoples money just so they can see a video. I would much rather give it to them for free. SO....in order to do that, and make sure the video doesn't get blocked on the grounds of copyright...I have to pause every at least every 60 seconds. TRUST ME....I hate pausing. I reeeeeeeeeally wish I didn't have to, I would LOVE to just watch the video all the way through and then give all my thoughts and critiques at the end. Unfortunately that's not how UA-cam works.
Somehow, disagree; not with all the reaction, but parts of it. The 3rd „mood” (as you called it) is so obvious 99% from child in time. Then ok, remarkable instrumental skills, good vocals but lack of emotion. This is the kind of composition you listen, probably say „wow” and then forget it. Maybe other songs of this band are remindable but not this one.
All Lovebites songs except for 1 on their 1st EP are in English. I am French Canadian and have understood 90-95% of the words coming from Asami from their last 2 or so years of performance on 1st listening. Might be because I am used to hearing accents, American, English, Welsh, Australian. I can also say that I understand her more than many singer that are from the US who will often mumble their words.
@@gmon78 That sucks. May I recommend you put on CC if you watch them again, it might help you make the adjustment to her accent easier and after a while, you won't even notice it. Many uploads have them and people have been posting the lyrics in the comments also which is always a plus imho. Don't give up on them and you will be pleasantly surprise. Edited part: I forgot to add that they are mostly Power Metal but also have a wider range from Ballads, Rock, Speed metal and Trash Metal.
@@cepho8349 Or, now I know this is a mad suggestion, but maybe, just maybe, we have differing opinions on music? We don't all have to enjoy the same things man. Why do we learn to hate, deceive and lie, hurt each other?
Why does it never end? The sorrow keeps on repeating
Wailing, come downpours of the rain
Will it end? No one ever knows
Wondering, what only time can tell
What is at the end of life?
Why do we only see our own desires? Greed is endless
Why is there authority when there is no justice in their rulings
Struggling like feeble, helpless fools
Will it end? No one ever knows
Wandering, not knowing where to go
Carrying the breath of life
Standing at… The Edge of the World
As long as you're still alive, remember
- don't fear standing up, don't ever give it up
Until the day you meet your end, it's not over
- let your soul shine inside of your heart
As long as you're still alive, remember
- keep your dignity, stay true to who you are
Until the day you meet your end, it's not over
- let your heart love and always be loved
How you live will always live on
As your way of life, forever
How you live will always live on
As your way of life, forever
How you live will always live on
As your way of life, forever

I've listened to 20 reactions to this song today. I subscribed to you and one other. Not because you said nice things or I agree with everything you said, but you made high quality, well-informed observations and I learned some stuff.
FEELIN' YOU Chicken!!! Glad you enjoyed the content, and hopefully you'll enjoy more on the channel.
I feel so SORRY for you David, you own their stuff now and HAVE to hold off on it so no Reacts get ruins for the future, PAINFUL BECAUSE this band has YET to put out a crap song! Due to this channel and their first time featured, I went and bought their last album.. I now OWN several of their albums! lol
When you buy one after the first listen, you have to get the rest!
@@Glynthepin every song was GREAT or good, RARE on an album, THAT alone made me go online and pick up more. I AM debating on picking up some Aldious albums or waiting until I hear more from them and I NEED to check if Asterix (I think that's their name, J-Metal Prog band with teens)... 3 songs in on UA-cam WOW!
@@brucenadeau5920 That would be Asterism.
@@THEDavidHeretic YEAH! That's it, you did a song, I checked out one more, WOW and I had to just LISTEN to one NO breaks, I'm glad you had them Requested, a hidden gem!
@@THEDavidHeretic David just a QUICK question, you know of Osaka Popstars... BIG Misfits connection, IF NOT I will post a request for them on Patreon for you when you get to it
i think that your lowest lovebites score has been 8.9 on the richter scale. quite a compliment to these ladies from someone who knows music.
FEELIN' YOU Dr. Frenier!!! Yeah these ladies definitely deliver every single time I've seen them.
Miyako was a professional Concert Pianist before learning Guitar ]:P
(Confession--I stopped in the middle. I have to work in the morning. I _WILL_ finish watching later, and I may have another comment then...).
RE: piano sustain. Thing is, the lifted damper from using the pedal frees up other, unplayed strings to vibrate sympathetically, which holding down the keys does not. The strings that are easiest to excite sympathetically are those matching higher partials of the played note(s), which sort of, I don't know, lifts the sound. Both techniques are valid, of course, for different applications....
Did finish, no further comment.

あなたのLOVEBITES のREVIWが的確で大好きです。最近、LOBEBITESの新しいREVIEW!が無いので以前のREVIEWを見返したりしています。

We're trying to find a day that Mrs. Heretic is able to film, it's not easy when she's always working and traveling for work. We will find a day eventually, I promise.
Big Man 9.1 great score wait till you do Epilogue
@David Heretic , do you think that Asami is the best frontwoman (and frontman) currently? Stay safe!
Hard to say, there's a ton of frontwomen I probably haven't seen yet. I will say she's one of the best that I personally have seen, and that includes frontmen as well.
@@THEDavidHeretic I agree, maybe she´s the best below 30 years old. Su-metal too.

Great reaction and informative review as always. Add my name to the list requesting that you review probably my favourite track by the band... Epilogue. Zepp Diver City 2019 (the year before this).
Already in the que, your name is already on the requesters list.
First time is clickbait for sure. You already ear Lovebites.
I can assure you, this is the first time I heard this particular song from them.
First time hearing the song, not the band
you want feeling need to do epilogue
Already in the que, added your name to the requesters
We hate PAUSE
Is that girl singing in English? Honestly can't tell.
Music is technically proficient, but it's not my cup of tea. I'd give it a 6.0.
@@repobob My hearing is knackered though, so that's likely a factor in why I couldn't make it out.
6.0? Your hearing must be knackered indeed.
@@cepho8349 Or, now I know this is a mad suggestion, but maybe, just maybe, we have differing opinions on music?
We don't all have to enjoy the same things man. Personally I think this band is awful, obviously your opinion may vary. That's fine though. The world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things.
In this song at least, very Dream Theaterish.
