The girls had a great time on stage and we all had a great time together with them! Do you need anything else? I don't think so - I was delighted! When I saw your reaction to this song, I was sure - you'll have more fun with every minute. And we did, because it's that kind of song - seemingly nothing big, but how much fun it gives us! A very cool song, I love it!
I've been waiting for you to find this song for precisely the reasons you brought up: The interaction within the band and with the crowd, and especially the Ice Queen cracking a smile and having obvious fun. Miyako has a beautiful smile, and I agree with you, I wish we would see it more in their shows.
What's interesting about that song is that is essentially a B-side. It's not on any album - it's only available on the Golden Destination single. However, as a live song, with that little performance in the middle from Miyako, it becomes much more fun, and that's why I've hoped you'd react to it. I really wanted you to see that other side of Miyako, and you enjoyed it as much as I thought you would.
Ahhh Spellbound.. I love this song so much David.. Thanks for reacting to this and yeah, 4 months pregnant Miyako doing skit sure is funny.. To be honest, I think in real life Asami and Miyako are the two most goofy members among Lovebites..🤣
totally agree with you about the mix on the keyboards. miyako was funny in this and dont forget she is almost 5 months pregnant here. also this song gives haruna a break with not having to double kick for 6 minutes straight. great reaction as always. have a great weekend!!!!
I love to see joking and all smiling Miyako. That is actually natural Miyako. Off the stage, Miyako is even more playful than Midori and jokes a lot and talkative happy person. But I like that grumpy, bored, cold Miyako. That is her character on the stage and that is the way she entertains us. She just gives as an outstanding musician character, not one of those who jumping around and do funny things on the stage. This is my opinion.
I agree that the Ice Queen is a character, and also a way for her to give contrasting characters at the guitars. Lets face it, there is NO WAY she will ever out-showmanship Midori. I do think the 'crowd' makes Mi-Ya uncomfortable though. I've seen more than one backstage video where she lagged behind the other girls going on stage and looked a little uncomfortable.
@@Patrick_H. Pre-lovebites would prove otherwise. Miyako was always full of energy and a showman. I'm not sure what changed. Maybe the stress of her doing like 40% of the work of the band to include backing tracks. So pre-Lovebites she was just like Midori. She is introverted and gets nervous because she has a lot on her table during live performances. She is the "Mozart of Metal".
@@Patrick_H. Oh, Patrick. I 100% agree with you. Miyako will never out show Midori. I don't know about foreign people, but Midori looks exceptionally flashy and gay (in the traditional meaning) to Japanese. As you guys might know, she looks very exotic (still a kind of typical Japanese though). Midori also knows how to behave on the stage and to take advantage of her looking. If Miyako tries to matchup with Midori, she'll be funny and a little awkward and embarrassing on the stage. Miyako's advantage is her elegance.
@@LongStroke01 No One who has seen Mi-Ya in that black Neoprene body suit (with a TAIL) could doubt that she can be a showman!! It may be nerves due to responsibility to her bandmates. But there is also a big difference between a Club crowd at a Drop of Joker or 21g show and being in a Concert Hall. I was never close to being a 'star,' but even playing small amphitheaters with 500 or so people, the pre-show tension is a lot more intense. Like gatograto was saying, a lot of it is just the Ice Queen persona she took on. It was more noticeable in the 2020 Tour - 2019 and 2021 Tours she was more crowd interactive - and even smiled that Beautiful smile.

Love the reaction, DH. The Keytar segment is priceless. Musically, I don't think there is anything Miyako can't do. Have seen her play drums and bass, and we know she can sing. 🤘🐺
Miyako has a youtube channel where she tried to speak in english the whole time because fans are asking for subtitles. Its fun she has good sense of humor. She has alot of pets by the way she has dog bird tarantula and a snake.
This song is definitely keyboard focused. It’s a super fun song to hear and especially see. It’s not one of my favorite songs from LOVEBITES but one of my favorite live videos to watch.
This is just a fun song that plays homage to 80's keyboard driven hair metal and doesn't try to be something that it isn't. It may be different to most of their other songs (especially with the keyboard dominant mix), but It's a REALLY entertaining song - which is the only thing I care about. In defence of Miyako, I personally really like her reserved stage presence - it contrasts so well with Midori's extraverted style. As long as Miyako is shredding my face off, I perfectly fine with her doing whatever she wants up on the stage.
Yeah, the synthesiser is pretty loud, but they do that in their studio-recorded versions of most of their songs. That's why I prefer Lovebites live. Like their new song "Judgement Day", Midori and Miyako are doing some really great stuff on the guitars , if you look at their hands on the video you can tell, but it's being drowned out by the synthesiser part. Can't wait to hear the new song LIVE.
If you watch Miyako's early days with LOVEBITES (and before), you'll see that her style is different. She had more flamboyant action and head-banging than she does now (i.e. in the style of a typical metal player). Why did Miyako adopt the current poker face style? . I guess: Miyako didn't change, but I think she started thinking about facing her music with her true self (her natural appearance). I mean, she thinks she's found her best style to release herself from stress rather than express her music in superficial form. It's true that it's difficult to guess Miyako's psychology from her facial expressions on stage (especially for non-Japanese people). However, I think her facial expression is a "beautiful expressionlessness" created by concentration to create the best music (performance/composition). ---------- from Nippon *It is a sentence using Google translation. Miyako in Lovebites is like Graig Jones in Slipknot. Always the serious and silent type and then, out of nowhere, you get those rear moments . Love it.
I've been hoping this would show up on the channel at some point. Love the 80s feel of the song and it's great to see the light-hearted side of Miyako come through on the stage for once.
You are completely deceived by the character Miyako is playing😁 Miyako acts as a "cold woman" on stage, but she is actually very bright, professional, perfectionist and kind. Knew you would have a blast with this one. And, you Needed to see Miyako's beautiful smile! They have their new bass player now. Their new Album will be released 2/22, and the MV of the Title track, Judgement Day, was dropped last Christmas Eve. Fami Makes A +Difference! Thanks for continuing to support and help promote my favorite (and the World's most under-appreciated) Metal band. 🤘🐺🤘
I really love this song; it’s so different but so Lovebites at the same time, with an 80’s vibe. Yes, I know, it’s not a complex or impressive song but I like it. Also, it shows the versatility of the band. My feeling is similar to “Dancing with the devil”, that I like so much, too. I like Midori’s solo and also the duet harmonization between Midori and Miyako (guitar & keytar) at the end. I have the Blue-Ray of this concert (Heavy metal never dies) and the sound and video quality are excellent. Miyako is an introverted woman but is so sweet and adorable.
Sounds like you listened to a low quality rip. Sounded pretty great when I watched the livestream of this performance. Felt like the keyboard being high in the mix was a stylistic choice. Oh and the initial refusal of the keytar is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a live show.
Thanks for doing this. Great that you got to see the goofy side of Miyako. The ice queen thing is itself an act--in part to create even more contrast with Midori. I personally think that's actually stagecraft as well, and it's very effective. Their fans love the yin/yang contrast.
Simply a fun song. Regarding Miyako - I want her to continue on what she does on stage. We have Midori to be the animated one on stage, and she is marvelous at it. I love Miyako's stoic focused nature. I'll just say you honestly don't understand her stage persona, and being a big showman on stage isn't what she normally does. I really don't need her to be more anything on stage. Enjoyable reaction and analysis.
This song is from "Heavy metal never dies - Live in Tokyo 2021", concert held on March 26 at Tokyo Dome City. Available in digital, cd, dvd and blu ray format. They did this concert under severe restrictions because of the covid. So the crowd can only clap and the capacity was only 50%. Please subscribe to their channel (if you haven't): ua-cam.com/channels/90wxogt_sQrP0Os0HT-xuw.html The setlist is: 01. Ride For Vengeance (Intro) 02. When Destinies Align 03. The Crusade 04. Golden Destination 05. Set The World On Fire (*) 06. Shadowmaker 07. Today Is The Day (*) 08. Winds Of Transylvania (*) 09. Spellbound (*) 10. The Unbroken (*) 11. A Frozen Serenade (*) 12. Swan Song 13. Glory To The World (*) 14. The Apocalypse 15. MDO 16. Don’t Bite The Dust 17. Holy War 18. Thunder Vengeance 19. Under The Red Sky ( * Live first performance)
While the style of this song usually is not the type of Metal I'd listen to (the keyboards-sound reminds me of "The Final Countdown" and "Jump", both of which are not my cup of tea), I really do enjoy "Spellbound" and might give it about the same rating you did! As regards Miyako, anyone who thinks/complains that she never smiles on stage, should immediately go and watch her and Midori performing "Farming Simulator" with Dragonforce: ua-cam.com/video/KnGPZxfOAmg/v-deo.html - smiling, clapping her hands, dancing around and high-fiving Hermann and Midori at the end! What more can you ask for? And if that's not enough, watch all of Lovebites joining Dragonforce for a cover version of "My Heart Will Go On": ua-cam.com/video/mWVwdGi9ixI/v-deo.html
I'm glad you got to see this one and to get to see the fun side of Miyako. Of course this is a fun song. They usually have one or two "fun songs" in their set. It's necessary to provide contrast and variety in a show. It would be very dry and exhausting to have a show of all epic and serious masterpieces. Such a pity that due to Covid the crowd were restricted to applause only. 😊😊
That was unexpected, but I'm glad :) Only the Link has could been better, there are better versions on UA-cam in terms of Sound but hey...not the end of the world.
If you read the lyrics the sound of the song really matches the story, it's a fairy tale about beautiful girl who was put under the curse and her beauty was taken away. People started avoiding her and song emphatize how wrong it is that once beauty is gone people don't want to look at her anymore. It's kinda like when Fiona was turned into an ogre in Shrek ;)
That's a surprisingly high score, to me. It's not my favorite song in any way, shape or form. The first time I heard this song I half-expected to see Michael Paré coming on stage at any second 😀 It sounds like an 80s movie... I can't wait for you to watch their new release, Judgement Day. They did, as games say, level up.
I think it was a perfect choice for a Performance Piece. The song is easy to play, and a nice break from the really challenging stuff like Winds of Transylvania and Glory to the World. And the song is still made 'memorable' to everyone because of the fun they have with the keytar. I agree with the 8.6 (I guessed 8.8) - you need to leave room for songs like Swan Song, Edge of the World and Judgement Day. And I agree, it sounds like Hair Metal from the 80s😎. 🤘🐺🤘
Love the song, one of my favs, because of how fun and upbeat it sounds, yet I know the story is super tragic. Medusa really had a bad time and wasn't even her fault; she was incredibly beautiful, but was raped by Poseidon, yet she was the one cursed, with that grotesque appearance and ultimately, died a undeserved death.
I always thought of this song as an ode to the great rock/metal bands that had heavy keyboard sounds during most of their songs. The band Europe comes to mind from that keyboard sound Miyako was using. And we know darn well that the keyboard on "The Final Countdown" was up super high in the mix as it should be. A band like Lovebites, who have made no secret of their love for 80's style European heavy metal, has such a huge history of musical sound to draw from, that it is inevitable that they will stray into lanes of music one might not expect. Unlike those same 80's bands, the current batch of Japanese rock and metal bands are much more varied in what their music sounds like due to this incredible, long history and the passion the musicians have for that history. Great reaction!
You have commented many time that Miyako shows no face or action when playing. This song is the total opposite of what she never does. That reaction was the whole reason why I wanted you to react to it. FYI you were suppose to refer to me as C0Y0-T and not my real name.
Loved the reaction but, as I'm sure just about every other member of the wolf pack that follows your channel will agree, I can't wait for you to get to their new song "Judgement Day". This is the song that properly introduces the new bassist Fami. Fami is a prodigious young talent on the bass at just 20 years of age and she brings a whole new dimension to the band. Since you are a professional bass player yourself, I'm certain that everyone will be eager to hear your opinion of her.
As mentioned before Miyako in the early days was far more animated, so it must of been a group decision for her to be the ice queen. As you said, to see her interact with the crowd and refuse the keytar makes up for her usual stage persona. You did not mention Asam, being the usual stage general? Without a word she raised her fist in the air and the crowd followed. Miho, entertainingly playing her bass and singing along also was not mentioned. Maybe Miyako's keyboard playing being well up in the mix, distracted you too much? A good score from you because as you more or less explained, the song is not that spellbinding. You missed that one 😀 Sadly, this is the last show that Miho performed with Lovebites.
Lovebites is my favorite band, but if I'm being honest, this is not one of my favorite songs. I think you nailed it perfectly with 8.6. What I love about the song is finally getting to see Miyako's playfulness on stage. I've seen many interviews with her, as well as videos taken with her in her home studio, and I know that she is a playful, funny, cute, unassuming person in real life. I know that they made a choice to have Midori be the show-person, and Miyako to be the Ice Queen, but I think that's being a disservice to Miyako. I just wish they'd let Miyako show her real personality on stage a little more.
I think it is a bit like the (very) old debate over who do you prefer, Ginger or Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island. I personally refer the Miyako ice queen over the Midori party girl, but what I like best is that they are different.
This girl plays ALL INSTRUMENTS WEN ALL GIRLS ON This Band plays all instruments has NON stop PLATZ 1ALBEN IN THE CHARTS MYJAKO IS THE BEAST OFF ALL INSTRUMENTS lerning midori This instrument is that a best player 10.10 pounds vor myjako 6.6 pounds vor asami 6.6 pounds vor midori 6.6 pounds vor miho 10.10 pounds vor HARUNA This song is not best its O K 🇯🇵⛩🇯🇵⛩🇯🇵⛩🇯🇵⛩🤘🏻
Maybe I need to be more open minded. I just don't get it. They are clearly talented. You mentioned them before so I thought I would check them out. Just didn't hit me in the feels. Or even tap my feet. 8.6😲
This is my least favorite song of theirs simply because I do not like the Keytar. It is funny when Miyako pretends to not want to take the Keytar from the tech.
It's a warm-up masterpiece. Ladies are having fun. Fully relaxed. Laughing from ear to ear, Ladies play with their toys.♥️🎤🥁⭐️🎸🎸🎸😎

Sounds like you listened to a low quality rip. Sounded pretty great when I watched the livestream of this performance. Felt like the keyboard being high in the mix was a stylistic choice.
Oh and the initial refusal of the keytar is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a live show.

Next LoveBites song: “Today is The Day” Live! 🔥🎹🎸🔥🤟
Thanks for doing this. Great that you got to see the goofy side of Miyako. The ice queen thing is itself an act--in part to create even more contrast with Midori. I personally think that's actually stagecraft as well, and it's very effective. Their fans love the yin/yang contrast.
LOL - I just made almost the same comment to gatograto 45 seconds ago 👍
Great
Simply a fun song.
The funny side of Miyako! 🎹🔥🤘

@@Patrick_H. Well, more 80's Van Halen hard rock in my opinion!
the reason the views are low is alot of times youtube takes videos down and they re upload them

That was unexpected, but I'm glad :)
Only the Link has could been better, there are better versions on UA-cam in terms of Sound but hey...not the end of the world.
Miyako no scaping from the piano. LOL
FYI you were suppose to refer to me as C0Y0-T and not my real name.
reminds me of Europe
Loved the reaction but, as I'm sure just about every other member of the wolf pack that follows your channel will agree, I can't wait for you to get to their new song "Judgement Day". This is the song that properly introduces the new bassist Fami. Fami is a prodigious young talent on the bass at just 20 years of age and she brings a whole new dimension to the band. Since you are a professional bass player yourself, I'm certain that everyone will be eager to hear your opinion of her.
there are still many other songs worth reacting too
i look forward to your reaction to their new song judgement day
As mentioned before Miyako in the early days was far more animated, so it must of been a group decision for her to be the ice queen.
You missed that one 😀
Sadly, this is the last show that Miho performed with Lovebites.
🤣
but 8.6..................
This girl plays ALL INSTRUMENTS WEN ALL GIRLS ON This Band plays all instruments has NON stop PLATZ 1ALBEN IN THE CHARTS
MYJAKO IS THE BEAST OFF ALL INSTRUMENTS
lerning midori This instrument is that a best player

cuz maybe she's pregnant that time
heyyyyyyyy, 8.6 for Spellbound. I will not follow you for the next three months. Punishment...I'm joking...
Dont like the mix at all. It sounds horribel for me
