Great review. As somone who likes to hit the ball as hard as I can the Pure Strike is my favorite racket as I can punish the ball without it sailing to the moon.
Thank you so much!! Yeah the control is certainly a must have big swing players
I like the specs and I like the low RA! A Babolat with a flexible 61 RA!!! Finally! I think it replaces the Strike 103 in the line.
Its certainly one of their best improvements with this silo :))
I just demoed this one. It reminds me a lot of the Wilson Clash Pro (V2) - same 16x20 string pattern and similar RA. The clash pro has a thicker beam and more power (and it’s more head light and a bit lower swing weight even though it’s 5 grams heavier) but I felt a lot of similarities. Both are excellent frames…
Agreed. I think the clash pro plays cushier and soft. And strike plays more control.
Thank you… I’m old school ( and a senior), so Maybe the PS would be the choice. Another question for you…. obviously you are a player so: What is the racquet you would take to a match? Best, John
We have a couple of testing rackets on this account. Our main reviewer uses a Clash 98 bc they have shoulder issues and the comfort lets them play. Another reviewer is a huge Fed fan and one handed backhand and they use the Pro Staff 97L. Another reviewer has classic strokes, one handed backhand, and teaches tennis a lot so they use the Blade 98 16x19 which offers a high end setup but a reasonable weight to be able to feed all day. Another reviewer uses the Pure Aero as they have an extreme grip, like spin, and also teach tennis and like the big sweetspot for feeding. Its all about matching a players specific expectations to a racket that offers matching benefits.
Thank you for the review...any thoughts on comparing this Babolat with the ProKennex Ki Q+5 Pro which is also a 100 16X20?
Sadly at this point we are only doing nationally distributed brands. Pro Kennex is only privately sold 🥲
It’s interesting how 1 reviewer says this is very powerful but another says it is not and more controlled. Guess qc it’s all over the place
The entire strike silo is absolutely for control. If you want power, that would be the pure drive silo.
Perhaps it’s powerful compared to the other more control oriented rackets in the strike silo is what others are saying??
great review! How do you feel stability? caz I’ve seen some stability comments from tennis warehouse review(low swing weight)
If you seek stability and more control and can handle it, the 98s might be a better option
Why not recommended for 1hbh? Gasquet uses a 100 in racquet, arguably the best backhand in the game. 98 better but unless you are young or 5.0 prob too much racquet swing-weight for an 1hbh and also stiffer, ouch.
I agree. We review these rackets for the everyday player. Certainly exceptions. There is definitely a compatibility for 1hbh but we feel it’s greater for the 2hb bc of loss stability and torque you get on this 100.
What’s the difference compared to 100 sq.in. 16x19 ? I’ve never used 16x20 what benefit will I get from it ?
16x19 is the standard. All around with spin. 16x20 is denser one more cross string and more control. We have reviews of both that go further into the details on the channel 😁
Interesting specs particularly the 310 balance which I believe is the head lightest in the 305g category.
What does this mean please?
When a racket is headlight, it makes it more maneuverable. The weight is shifted to the handle which creates as particular feel which most prefer for net play.
@@SolowSports And fast racket head speed i guess. I hope to demo one to see how it holds up against my Gen2
Bear in mind, regardless of which 2nd Gen Strike you have, it'll be a bit of an apples to oranges comparison, as the Strike 100 16x20 is a new & unique combination of specs for the Strike family. Good Luck demoing and hope you enjoy it :)
@@SolowSports Thanks. A head to hea between the 97 and the 18x19 would be interesting i guess.
Hello nice video, can you compare with Wilson Blade 200 v8 in terms of maeuvrablility, power and control?
Which model is the 200?
Sorry Blade 100 v8, thanks
@@juanantoniocanohidalgo5070 Great. We do have a review of the Blade 100. You can check it our here: ua-cam.com/video/JhUJlNsaJ5Q/v-deo.html . The denser Strike 100 16x20 would have less spin.
How does this 16x20 compare with the 98 16x19 in terms of control and precision?
The 16x20 is designed to have more control and I found it more versatile than the spin 16x19
How do you compare to the percept 100D?
Thanks.
The Strike 100 is incredibly comparable to the Percept 100, but the dense pattern 100D has more control and I felt better play at net.
Hello, how would you compare this PS 100 16x20 with Speed MP and Gravity MP?
They are all quite similar but if I were to dissect it…. Gravity MP = most comfortable with least power (I do feel there is a difference between least power and most control). Speed MP = control and spin. PS 16x20 = feel, control, all court play w best net of the 3.
What string and tension was the test?
Thank you
We strung it with Babolat Xalt 16g @ 54 lbs.
Great review! How does this compare against the Percept 100D in terms of feel and control, and which would you prefer?
Thank you so much. You’ve done a great job of finding the two most spec similar rackets. I think any difference between those two will be unnoticeable or you could adjust with string and tension. I think demoing both side-by-side might help you find the racket winner for you, but you can’t go wrong with either 😁
Take 100D, it is much better. I have already tested Percept 100D, and it is way much stable.
@@gppgle We reviewed that stick as well :))) We loved it too
hello, how bout u compare with head gravity tour 305 100 and 18x20 string pattern with this PS 305 100 16x20? would you prefer?
We do have videos for both for more in depth info. Gravity Tour = more control and comfort while being an online exclusive. Pure Strike 100 16x20 = control and feel while the semi dense pattern makes it a great all around option.
You guys tested the Shift 16 x 20. How do the Shift and PS 16x20 compare, and which one of the two do you favor? Best, John
Hey John,
Mostly simply put: the Shift 99 has more power & spin whereas the Pure Strike 100 16x20 has more control.
As a Pro Staff player, if I had to take one out to the match court tomorrow, I would probably take the Strike 😅
@@SolowSports Is the PS 16x19 your favorite? btw… thanks for responding… Where is home base for you guys?
@@johnnacke4134 Favorite can be perceived as our personal favorite or maybe favorite in terms of overall sales for our customer base. The 16x19 is the most popular seller in our stores. We are located in NY :))
Tested this strike 16x20 Strike today - to be honest, quite disappointed the racquet 1) vibrate a lot, need to use a dampener, 2) The string bed was a bit erratic, 3) higher swing weight and a bit difficult to manuever, 4) sweet spot is smaller (for its 100 sq inches size). Overall, it is not as good as Wilson SHIFT 16x20.
@@gppgle What string did you use?
Shift 16x20 vs PS 16x20: Which one would you choose for a match, and why?🎾
Fun question. For me personally it would be neither. But these two differ in optimizing swing path. If you have a modern Nadal like swing, the Shift offers vertical flexibility to generate spin. If you have a classic eastern swing you will derive more benefit from the Pure Strike with control and feel. Whichever swing style is most similar to you, will determine which of those two is the better fit.
more confortable pure strike or percept 100d?
Great question. I’m giving the slight edge to the pure strike. You can always adjust string and tension to make up the difference, however, if needed.
@@SolowSports pure strike has a history of elbowsdestroyed , so this is the most important things for me,before trying diferents setups.
@@agradina I understand your concern. The entire Pure Strike line has gone from a stiffness RA of almost 70 to 63-65 range which is less than the Percept.
