7:58 Good that you watered the leaves directly. Foliar feeding (diluted plant food in a spray bottle) helps a lot. I've seen pothos and philo's in regular (non-climbing) potting set-ups with enormous leaves when greenhouses do this.
I will do more foliar feeding!
I made an inexpensive moss pole by buying plastic chicken wire and a 12 ft piece of plastic gutter.its very sturdy and you can make tons of moss poles out of it.
Very nice!
Even sick you still make funny plant jokes! Hope you're feeling better and thanks for the fun content!
Sorry that you are sick. I am as well. I’ve been waiting to see your update because I want to learn from you, so that I can copy some of your techniques. Thank you so much for the update and for sharing this with the world!
Get well soon!
I love seeing you guys compete and get to know each other more! Love it when I watch my fave plantubers grow their relationship
Yeah it's been fun!
On a plank already!!! This competition is gonna be so fierce. I'd love to see what other milestones and achievements you guys come up with.
Should be fun!
I do enjoy your shows first of all and Just to give you a little heads up, it does get better with children and the sickness …You can tell that you have children because everybody gets sick all the time it goes around the family like the holidays right on time. Don’t worry it gets better. I’ve had a few kids, and it usually stops with the snot noses and the sickness when they get about four or five then it doesn’t get as frequent usually but when they hit the school age years going to school, you get different kind coming your way. But of course we would never ever live without it because that’s the joy of parenthood welcome to the adults who have children happy holidays😊😂🎉
Appreciate it
Pretty elaborate set up! You’ve really been thinking about this. Jeff better watch out!
Hey.... Easy now! Lol
Lol
cool I have a snow queen on the way I plan to put it on a pole can't wait !
This is trying not to be fun. I’m so glad I found this challenge. This is great to watch and hope you feel better.
Thank you!
Awesome awesome Matt get well soon
Thank you
Just started watching the video. Loved that reveal joke, but I didn't get it at first because I thought that first pothos was part of the background.
Lol yeah I was just trying to play up lots of progress
Fun and inspiring project! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Us too!
You should drill at the top the diameter of the irrigation tubing so you can inject right into the groove.
me: sitting here on the sidelines taking notes because I'm definitely not going to try this myself soon-ish
You gotta!
You look great without the moustache. Are you going to do another long form videos again soon. Those are my favourites. I understand that you are pretty busy with your family. If you have some free time, please do one. Thanks!
Great progress, Matt!
Thank you! You too I saw yours and its doing well despite the Sabotage from bugs and four legged friends lol
Wow, you’ve made great progress. I’m excited to see how you both do.
Thanks so much!
Great start. Looking forward to the Modular system.
You and me both! I gotta iron out some details but I'm excited about it
Looking real good so far, long roots nice.
Thanks!
I love your content.
this is such a fun experiement. take care !
Thank you
So as of the last year of me messing around with pothos props I have actually seen even more success with an air stone with a flow valve added to the mix seems to help speed up the process even more. Basically everything you did plus that and I'll have roots in no time at all. I really do think this will be one of my favorite video series it's very interesting to learn from your experiences like the grooves in the board are freaking genius.
Nice I think Jeff also employed the air stones I should try it!
@@TechplantChannel Right after I watched your video I headed straight to his channel. Lol good videos so far and I only expect them to get better
This is so fun ❤
Glad you are enjoying it!
This is awesome. I'm actually excited to see how it goes. I might try to do something similar for fun.
Hope you feel better.
Do it!!
Good luck 🤞
Thank you
Nice keep it up ! And take care of your health bro
Thank you I will try!
I loved the intro, made me laugh!
Glad it was funny lol
You crack me up!
Lol glad I can make some laughs
I liked everything😊
Glad to hear
Im really curious too see the next updates!
Also i was wondering whether the roots that were in water might have grown into the grooves of the plank as well and if that would have maybe made the plant feel more secure as well.
It's possible I was just scared to have it soaking in the same water. Might be worth trying on the side with other plants!
great opening haha
Lol
Just wanted to know if you sand the wood I always think this really helps it grabs the wood I use 60 grit I use this on my pvc pipes as well and they grip tight I drill holes, fill pvc with soil and moss to hold soil in the pipe. They root into pipe hole and around the pipe as well good luck
Makes sense!
So a while back I learned how important sunlight is to developing root growth. It’s been a game-changer for my propagations.
Based on that experiment, I’m wondering if it would be better to use clear plastic wrap to secure the nodes as the roots form instead of opaque Velcro strips 🤔
Probably!
I’m very invested. Don’t you want to direct the root to the groove?
Where can I find Jeff's video? Is there a link I am missing? Thanks.

Thank you
The intro😂😂😂
Hehe
You need hardwood plank so it doesn’t rot
Is getting any light behind all those plants?
Yes it was just like that for the joke I tried to make. Usually there is a light pointed right at it
When's the update for this month? 👀 Also, are you both going to use different stands? Ex, plank vs pole?
It will be coming a week or two later, we both have some family stuff to sort out and we wanna time a simultaneous launch! sorry for the delay!
No worries. I really appreciate the reply!
@@TornadoStray for sure! Glad you are looking forward to this series!
Hmm, a small enough amount of moss not to count? (3:01)
"So at this point I stuff a little bit of sphagnum moss in one of the slits"
ua-cam.com/video/trmhGjmCo7Q/v-deo.htmlm15s
"You can't alter it by adding moss or anything like that"
ever used hygrolon with houseplants?
Is that the sterefabric stuff you see in terrariums? No but it seems like a good way to make a pole by wrapping pvc maybe?
@@TechplantChannel yea that stuff^^ if you even have a water reservoir, the main benefit of this fabric is the capability to soak water I believe it was 150cm up. and since its synthetic there shouldn't be a mold problem. I still have some left over and this idea in my head for quite some time, but never came around to try it yet^^
welp. You don`t add fertilizer to the water until there are large roots already present. Also you let the cutting dry out for an hour and use pure water - so you don`t get these brown spots on the stem (or use charcoal).
Also this is very low tech. get yourself a ph/ec meter at least! If you don`t know the water - you know nothing!
My ph is about 7.8 I have an api testing kit
@@TechplantChannel
And how many Microsiemens? This is the point. You need destilled/pure water.
With fertilizer present there is no need to establish any/ big roots. But you want those roots big!
(Do an experiment if you don't believe me).
I would not go over 7,5 with epipremum or monstera!
@derwerner1214 never heard about measuring water conductivity, seems like an interesting thing to look into. I've tested distilled water vs my well water and haven't seen a huge difference but I can try again. I'm not sure it's worth me modifying my water PH but maybe. Lots of my plants get yellowish but I think it's over lighting. Maybe the ph is causing a failure of certain nutrient uptake tho. I did take some out of the light and they greened up nice tho
@@TechplantChannel There are EC meter for like 25€ . Just search for `HM Digital EC`for example.
With the conductivity you see exactly what kind of water you have and how much the plant needs.
Take a monstera for example.
A cutting needs zero (0-50) ms to produce roots.
But with established roots and a good light you can go up to 1200 microsiemens.
You have to step it up slowly (start with 300, than 600...).
Wiih the ec meter you can check afterwards how much the plant needs next time: if conductivity is going down after adding fertilzer the plant needs more - if conductivity is rising there is possibly too much fertilizer and you want to change the water and use less fertilizer.
You can also check the soil by adding pure/destilled water to it and check what is flowing through.
You will learn a lot with this!
@@TechplantChannel
I want to add:
Yellow means not enough fertilizer. In my oberservation an aroid is recycling old leaves or leaves that don`t have enough light.
PH level is very important - too high or low means the roots are noot able to suck those nutriants out and get damaged.
Well water also contain small amount of bacteria that is harmless for humans but can infect fresh cutted plants.
My well water has a conductivity of ~500ms. This will not encourage rooting like pure water (please proof me wrong :D )
All those slits feel like cheating.
They literally said there are no rules except it has to be staked on wood...
I just hope it actually helps who knows until we are pretty deep in
Omg biological warfare is right whole family is sick ! 😅
Lol
Get well soon!
do more plant updates i don’t care about pothos its the easiest thing to grow no offense. i want to see the succulents
What kind of plant updates?
@@TechplantChannelI would want to see the orchid updates like the Bulbo’s, Oncidium, Epidendrums, and the shoenorchis! Also I would want to see most of the terrarium build. Great video, I hope you get better❤
You dont care, but many others care. Trust me lol.
Pothos is very interesting plant when you make it to climb.
Pothos and monstera (the common plants) are my favorite contents and wanna see them more lol
Unbearably to hear
Like the whole video? The intro I'm pretty congested so it does sound bad
@@TechplantChannel no, love. I mean the whole video. I'm Russian from Kazakhstan and I might be wrong (coź im not native speaker) but your speech is like too fast, not clear etc and you just like that teenage chillax b..tch girls who speak like they don't care and that annoys. Perfect speaker for me is sir David Attenborough. PS you're handsome young man)
