I grew up on Aldi food. It was considered "food stamp food" if you shopped there. As an adult now, I appreciate Aldi cause the food was/is great and we lacked for nothing. Same great quality as any other grocery chain. Plus, It extends my grocery budget quite a bit.
I live in Florida and buy milk and eggs at Aldi all the time. Compared to paying $4.50/gall for milk and $2.50 for eggs in other stores. In my opinion Aldi food isn't that bad and alot of things there are a great deal Some foods taste just like the brand names.Fruits and veggies are a great price compared to the other stores here and good.. The cold cuts and cheese are very good and a great price. Great prices on bread too. If you love chocolate it's yummy and a great price. Aldi also supports local farms. In my opinion great store.
Often the no brand products taste like the brand because they are the brand. Aldi is know for their secret deals with brand company so the products are from the brand factory with little changes in receptie like less sugar, more spice etc.. In the end it is the brand product in non brand label package.
A lot of Name Brand companies often produce off name brand products for Aldi and other grocery store at lower prices. That is why the cool whip and pizza look very similar to the name brands. Food for thought. No pun intended
Factories don't produce it for a lower price, they're producing mass amounts for name brands and then sell off the extra unbranded product that wasn't purchased by the name brands. It's legal as long as it doesn't have the brand name on it.
Aldi is AWESOME. You should have started on the opposite side of the store as it's set up to get most of your cold and frozen items at the last of your shopping so they don't melt.
Glad you gave Aldi a try, they are a German Company and we use them quite a lot here in Europe (their main competiter is Lidl). We love your shopping trips.
@@isaiahbangura4421 Not that much tbh. Even after splitting up, the two companies remained on very cordial terms and tend to work together and mirror each other a lot.
Fun fact: when WalMart tried to expand to Germany a few decades ago, they got absolutely wasted by Aldi, Lidl and the other German discounters, so they had to leave the country with a bloody nose. They also broke quite a lot of laws, which contributed to that as well.
We'll soon be getting (2022) Aldi in southern Louisiana. Our local grocers have been fighting to keep them out for years but they are finally coming! As soon as folks here see how much they will be saving it'll be the go to store for groceries.
I find that the Ribeye and skirt steaks are the best meat I’ve tasted in years. Supermarket meats taste like nothing lately. Aldi has the flavor u would expect in beef. The cheese is fantastic and so affordable. Sliced cheeses are also fantastic and last forever. Skip the hotdog and hamburger buns. Terrible. Produce is fantastic. Frozen seafood is excellent. Very few additives if any.
Had to laugh when you brought a Trader Joe's bag with you. In Germany, Aldi split in Aldi North and Aldi South back in the early 1960s over a family dispute between the two owning brothers. What you have as Aldi in the U.S. is actually Aldi South while Trader Joe's belongs to Aldi North, so you're bringing a token of their "arch rival" with you.
Eh, Aldi Nord and Süd are pretty friendly and cordial with each other. It was never a big rivalry - the split of the company between the brothers was amiable and they tend to cooperate with each other a lot to this day.
The dispute was, that one brother (Theo) wanted to sell liquor and cigarettes, the other brother (Karl) not. So they split. Brother North did sell liquor and cigarettes and Brother South not. Today both sell it. If an ALDI is South or North you can see at the Logo. Is something orange in it, it's ALDI south. (In the US all ALDI's are ALDI south, Trader Joe's0 belongs to ALDI north (actually the MARKUS fund) BUT IT ISN'T ALDI south, both markets are totally different. Today, in the third and fourth generation of heirs, the two companies no longer work against each other; they even work together internationally. Germany used to be divided by the ALDI equator, but there is now ALDI Nord in the south and ALDI Süd in the north.
Their Gouda cheese is delicious. I have bought their Oat bread for years. I haven't been in a while as I am elderly but I read a review that their frozen french fries taste a lot like McDonald's. They are in a red bag and have the same cut as McDonald's. Another thing that is great and a fair price is their Organic Maple Syrup. It is very very good.
We have no Lidls here in SW Va. They bought some land near me and now it is for sale. I read Krogers was suing them for some brand infringement. I do love my Aldis, went today snd spent $109, first time ever.got a lot of meat.
Aldi should include the Sales Tax in the prices just to get peopls minds blown at the cashout. They will piss of the Competiotn. Becasue they will stil have lower pirces on the price tags with tax then other stores have without. And it would show the USA how its done and also be very nice for the customers.
FYI, when you find something you like on the "home goods, etc." isle, you better get it when you see it b/c most likely it won't be there when you return. They really do have some great items on that isle, and at good prices. I have several things I've bought on that isle that I use a lot. Aldi is always on my list of places to shop, including Costco, Sam's, Target, Harris Teeter, Trader Joe's, and now Wegman's (and I have to go out of town to shop at all of these). I do wish we had a Kroger nearby, but when they bought out Harris Teeter they turned all the Kroger stores (in our surrounding area) to Harris Teeters (which is way more expensive than the prices you show from Kroger).
I watch videos comparing the Aldi brands to the name brands. Those are really helpful. Aldi brands are usually as good and sometimes better than the name brands.
Aldi and Trader Joe's are not owned by the same people. It started out that way -- two brothers founded a German grocery store that became a very successful chain. Eventually the brothers disagreed on how to run the stores, so they (amicably) split the empire in two. One brother ran half the stores while the other brother took charge of the rest. It's all in the same family but still -- two separate owners. ETA -en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aldi
In fact the split of the original company originated over a dispute if to sell cigarettes in their stores or not. The two brothers could not reach an agreement how to move on, so they split the original company in two, Aldi Nord (north) and Aldi Süd (south). Foreign country Aldis usually were divided between the both companies. In the US Aldi Nord acquired Trader Joe’s, Aldi Süd operates under the Aldi name. Though they are owned by cousins, they operate independently. Though Aldis worldwide operate more or less by the same system, products are usually bought locally / regionally. Though during special sales they sell German stuff everywhere (for example Christmas stuff).
This is incorrect. The split happened so they wouldn’t be competing with each other. One brother took the south the other the north. Trader Joe’s is owned by both of them
@@lcestimator Incorrect. Trader Joe´s is solely owned by Aldi-Nord. The reason why ALDI-Nord is not operating as such in the US is because when the family business was split up they were not yet doing business internationally but intended to do so. In order not to compete with each other on the international markets they made a list of countries around the world and agreed to assign each country to only one of the ALDI companies. The US is actually a special in the ALDI-world as it was initially pretty far back on their priority list then and they did actually agree on both being "allowed" to eventually serve that market simply because of its size. ALDI-Sued was the first who decided to start in the US market and registered ALDI as a trademark. Some years later ALDI-Nord decided to follow but - as both are legally completely separate companies - was faced with the trademark issue. So, they bought Trader Joe´s and its trademark (the company already existed before) and transformed it to become their US - off spring ... Fun fact: In Germany ALDI-Nord uses the Trader Joe´s brand for some of their own items (like packed nuts / dried fruits / etc.) and I´m quite confident 98% of ALDI-Nord customers in Germany have no clue (and care even less) where the brand name originates from.
I use aldi for everything I found they carry a lot of my healthy eating items like flaxseed chia seeds ghee butter almond butter everything. Love me some aldi
In Germany the biggest competition of Aldi is Lidl. They are working nearly by the same system, though Lidl has slightly more name brands. There were numerous tests regarding quality and prices. Depending on the choice of products one or the other was cheaper. However over all those tests and comparisons Aldi was slightly cheaper and quality was regarded a little bit better. Though it really depends on personal taste. Generally Aldi is regarded highly for good quality at low prices. BTW most of their own brands are made by big name brand producers, quality generally is higher than would be expected.
Thanks for the tour. We had Aldi in St. Louis when we lived there, but we now live in San Antonio, Texas and the nearest Aldi is near Austin, Texas, in a town called Pflugerville. We might be taking a road trip there just to check it out. According to the corporate office, there aren't any immediate plans to bring Aldi to San Antonio. Not sure why.
Aldi has very good quality on household items. And, next time you have to try Knoppers, waffles in the stand right above where you found Werthers. Knoppers, are one of the best German sweet snacks.
I shop at ALDI in Scotland, the quality is always great, much cheaper then other major supermarkets like Tesco. Been shopping there for 20+ years and would never change, their produce are excellent. While the shop is a little different in lay out, its well worth a visit.
Steve it's pronounced wos Ter sheer sauce. In the UK where the sauce originates we just call it woster. Don't think there's anything I have bought in UK Aldi that I didn't like so don't be afraid to try.
Anyone else get the feeling they didn't !like Aldi food. Passed up some non brand stuff to go get branded at Costco. I also want to say quibbling over pence to drive someone else and get the same product. What about fuel costs going from shop to shop??? Anyhoo still like the videos no hate intended!
I would start on the other side of store with the snacks and the wine .Aldi's have some great wines ,award winning The story behind the foods is Aldi's trys a lot of brands and they only carry the top one . Coffee is great too.
Finally been waiting on you guys to appreciate the awesomeness that is Aldi not saying to give up other stores but you should always go there for great deals on milk eggs and their meat selection is always yummy
I'm in Maryland, and the prices at Aldi vary from store to store. One store had eggs for 69 cents and I went to another Aldi, not too far away, and they were $1.29! I've gotten a gallon of milk for only $.89! The sodas are usually not priced as well, and the name brands that they have are not the best deal either. But, I don't have to buy the name brands and I find most of the Aldi brands are very good. Aldi is my store of choice!
I started going to Aldi this past year, their bread products are great especially their brioche buns, my kids are picky though, they don't care for their shredded cheeses, their salmon is pretty good.
You two really know your prices. I never look at prices, I buy mostly organic and just buy what I want but I did see some organic prices and I pay 30 to 50 percent more on organic prices. I do not like Costco organic hamburger. Wow, I probably would save thousands of dollars a year by comparing prices. Great job.
If you continue to go Aldi you will want to leave a quarter in your car. We call it the Aldi quarter! The aisle with the misc household items is the aisle of shame.😉
Yep...always have a few quarters...plus I like to give someone my buggy....save them having to dig up a quarter...and if you do forget...go inside they give you one free
Live in Mi and just paid $1.96 for eggs at aldi. When they go on sale I freeze them. Wisk each egg and pour into a muffin tin sprayed with pam when they are frozen wrap individually and put in freezer good for a year. Make great easy scrambled eggs in the microwave. Aldi is a great place to shop, but know your prices
That’s one store I wish we had in Washington state! Funny, growing up in Northwest Indiana, we didn’t really do too much grocery shopping at Aldi, That’s one store I always love shopping at whenever I do an Indiana trip. This location looks like a fairly new store as well.
Any small or fingerling potatoe can be used...normally packaged with more salt then you need ....boil potaoes with a generous handfull of salt leave them in the hot water when you take them out drownd them in melted butter...oh so good!!!
No one says anything ever about bringing your own bags. I must have ten different market bags in my car. They get washed in my front load machine on gentle cycle then dried in the sun. I reuse everything. Check out the cheesecake slices. They are FABULOUS, rich and tasty. They have two slices for $1.99.
Love Aldi- went there today. Love their fresh caught Salmon.Aldi eggs and milk are consistently lower in price than Kroger- of course Kroger has them as a loss leader occasionally.I love raisin bread with pimento cheese. I got their brand of Dave’s Killer Bread there today for $2.59 I believe, delicious
I buy meats, cheeses, dairy, eggs, some veggies and fruits there. The organic milk I buy is now $2 cheaper than Walmart’s. I buy seafood there too. I never buy snacks, they are tasteless. Some things are great, some not so much. I DO LOVE the checkout there. What I wait in line for at Kroger and Walmart takes maybe 60 seconds at Aldi. And, I love the clean parking lot, no carts everywhere. In the three years or so I have shopped there I have only seen one couple leave their two carts on the lot. But, of course, they were all of 25 feet from the return area!
With as many food allergies as I have, I don't usually shop for myself at Aldi, but I do shop for my son. I like their extra items, especially the summer gardening and cooking things. We have two in the area, one on the way home from work, so I can get their easily. Just remember to keep a quarter for the cart. I keep one in my car's cupholder so I can always have a quarter and not have to scramble for one. I think they have good prices if that's the stuff you can eat.
I like Aldi because their prices on basics are always the same as in you don’t have to wait for basics to go on sale, eggs are always under a $1 for example. Our Aldi milk is under $2 gallon for full fat, eggs .$65, butter $1.79. Spices are $1 and good quality. Those deli flatbread pizzas are delicious! Aldi often has $.89 lb butterball turkeys at holiday time in my area of the Midwest
Look carefully at the Aldi products you think look like a popular name brand, however Aldi brand products are made with higher quality ingredients no artificial chemicals. Their lunch meats are made with NO nitrates or chemicals. Read the ingredients.
I love Aldi especially since we moved to Iowa. Chicken breast is surprisingly good. The produce is good too but normally won’t last more than a week. If you like pistachios they are my favorite at Aldi.
Aldi is Trader Joe's! Well technicality they are rivals as they do belong to 2 different Aldi companies (Trader Joe's is owned by Aldi North and Aldi in America is owned by Aldi South) Greetings from Germany
Not every town has a Kroger store or one owned by them , or a Meier store. But most have an Aldi. If I have to drive far to get groceries the high price of gas outweighs the savings.
Peg our school nurse told me once that leg cramps are caused by low levels of potassium in your diet. Try eating more Bananas, cooked potatoes, Broccoli, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, peas, cucumbers, cooked Spinach.avocados, watermelon, and others.
Life long leg cramp sufferer... pick up a calcium magnesium zinc combo supplement. Take 2 at night. I buy mine at grocery outlet. You can increase up to 4, but can cause loose stools. At night because magnesium helps with sleep. Yes, someone else that loves raisin bread and bologna. My friends think I'm weird but it's comfort food for me. ❤
Hi! I have been to Aldi's in Southaven, MS often and I love going there. You can spend 20 cents or so. They have a good selection on food items. We buy keto bread often from there. The organic food they have is great!
Aldi’s is the best. They are a German company. They are the Walmart of Germany. The Albrecht (ALDI) family makes the majority of the products their selves. My best advice when going to Aldi’s is try the items you would normally buy somewhere else. Some you’ll like more than the popular national brand. The most important thing I noticed is they don’t use as many preservatives in their products. I love their cheese selection they have and it’s super good quality. They have a wide selection of organic items. They also own Trader Joe’s, they created it to compete with Whole Foods
Calling them equivalent to walmart is kinda insulting. And kinda wrong because they operate in the completely opposite way, with very small stores and limited selection. Real would be a German kind of supermarket that's closer to walmart
They really stand behind their products. If you don't like it they will take care of you and get you a replacement. I've found very few items that my family didn't like. The cookies are hard to resist. My kids also really like their version of cinnamon toast crunch, no need to try to switch the box to fool them. There's even a Facebook group of very hard core aldi shoppers!
I like the Aldi’s chicken salad with cranberries and pecans on raisin or any fruit bread. When I make my own chicken salad, I add grapes and walnuts or pecans and beet pickled eggs. It’s delicious on blueberry or strawberry bread.
$7.59 is a very good buy for the Salmon. That was a good price for that slice of ham $2.89. I made Pea Soup, Bean Soup, a casserole using just 1 slice. ALDI seems reasonably priced.
Aldi is a Swedish/German grocery store, so many items are imported from Sweden and Germany. They also do everything in a Swedish or German way. Aldi charges a quarter for a basket so that you will bring it back. By doing this, they don't have to hire people get baskets from the parking lot. This is one way they keep prices low. Most grocery stores in Europe also do this, but they charge more per cart. They don't give away free sacks. You either have to bring your own bags, buy their expensive bags, or pull an empty box off the shelf. Aldi is one of few stores that actually encourages you to take empty boxes so they don't have to break them down and recycle them or throw them away. These are 2 more ways Aldi keeps prices low. Aldi was founded on the principle of making customers do a little more work so they can save more money.
My husband loves salt potatoes I can't it's to much salt for me. He is from upstate NY. But take your potatoes and water add a cup of salt . Then let them cook until you like them. Then clams are good I love going to Aldi's their fruit is really good.
Aldi has good quality food for great prices, the only thing is some of the products are there for a limited time. I start shopping at Aldi then go to Kroger or WalMart to get sale items & what I can’t find at Aldi!
The turkey is higher because it’s not around the holidays. Also, the name brand companies you see in the store also make the aldii brand. There is a reason why the packaging looks like the name brand items.

I also want to say quibbling over pence to drive someone else and get the same product. What about fuel costs going from shop to shop??? Anyhoo still like the videos no hate intended!
Omg aldi is so cheap I love it there and I love the aldi isle of shame it is awesome love you guys
As a German I am amazed about the interior.... it looks exactly like here. 😉
We will!
Great job.
Wherters is German, and since Aldi is German I was glad they had it. Right over it was Knoppers. You should soooo try that, it's delicious!
Hi. Yes aldi are not to bad really. Nothing wrong with generic brands either. Thank you both for showing us
Definitely get you a Bug Zapper.
Your going to be amazed every day when you empty it. How many bugs it has killed.
Yes they work....had one for years
If you continue to go Aldi you will want to leave a quarter in your car. We call it the Aldi quarter! The aisle with the misc household items is the aisle of shame.😉
Or I have the little aldi coin holder on my key chain
Yep...always have a few quarters...plus I like to give someone my buggy....save them having to dig up a quarter...and if you do forget...go inside they give you one free
So do I! Mine is a flamingo.
I Like how they have KNoppers and Schogetten ther and not even try to bother to translate
Even if you don't buy at Aldi, the good thing is as soon as they open a shop in the area the prices will go down at the established stores.
Thank You, Steve!
I'm not the ONLY green grape lover!! 🤣🤣
Green grapes are better than any other color grapes
Die guten Werthers Original 😃❤
Tolles Video!
Viele Grüße aus Deutschland 🌞
Thanks for the heads up. We will have to check it out!
Tabasco is made in Louisiana. It’s been made there since antebellum times.
So excited for you that tried Aldi.
Aldi’s cheeses and meat are really good. I also buy the Kirkland’s Red Bag Chicken. You can make copycat chick-fil-A sandwiches.
Their pickles are fabulous!
Happy father's day steve
Thank you!
When I was younger we grew strawberries & sold them for 50 cents a quart.
Aldi is Trader Joe's!
Well technicality they are rivals as they do belong to 2 different Aldi companies (Trader Joe's is owned by Aldi North and Aldi in America is owned by Aldi South)
Greetings from Germany
Fantastic vlog dude ❤️😀👍
Look on the back wall where ice cream is. On bottom shelf, you’ll find a two serving package of cheesecake. Delicious and onetime $1.99.
They're frozen veggies and their french fries and tater tots are really good
Raison toast bologna is a winner! Sweet and salty. Grill the bologna too.
Happy Father's day 😊
Aldi changes every week! The Aldi Finds are always different. If you like something in Aldi Finds, buy it!
The cranberry chicken salad is great!
They have fabulous German sausages.😋😋😋😋😋😋
Not every town has a Kroger store or one owned by them , or a Meier store. But most have an Aldi. If I have to drive far to get groceries the high price of gas outweighs the savings.
I also love caramel bombons. :)
Great Video ! I love the Aldi cheeses and their eggs have a really good taste too. The eggs also usually have a longer shelf life than Krogers.
THOSE ARE THE BEST PICKLES!!
Hi! I have been to Aldi's in Southaven, MS often and I love going there. You can spend 20 cents or so. They have a good selection on food items. We buy keto bread often from there. The organic food they have is great!
Well Aldi grocery store is coming to my hometown of meridian Mississippi and I'm excited to try it out for the first time.
This is dixie from texas, when youcome in to aldi you start there and go up and down each isle,
Aldi food is good. We buy there also.
The canned rolls at Aldi's are great. The taste less salty and less artificial tasting!yum!
U started at the wrong end of the store that’s the last aisle you go to before u get to the register 😊
I miss those prices, $5 for shrimp?!
We've been to the Tobasco plant. Very small but very potent!
Magnesium works for leg cramps. The hazelnut cookies are called pirouettes.
You guys should get insulated shopping bags from QVC! They cold foods cold, hot foods hot for hours! They are relatively inexpensive and last forever!
Aldi has good quality food for great prices, the only thing is some of the products are there for a limited time. I start shopping at Aldi then go to Kroger or WalMart to get sale items & what I can’t find at Aldi!
We love the potato puffs
The turkey is higher because it’s not around the holidays. Also, the name brand companies you see in the store also make the aldii brand. There is a reason why the packaging looks like the name brand items.
we have Aldi, but I wish we had Trader Joes Too!
thank you
God bless You
