Little islander tip: you can open a coconut with the back of a machete(or if you wanna be completely safe, the back of a butcher's knife)and split it open nice and clean. You can do this after you drain the coconut of its water.
(Edit: just a little tap tap tap on all sides of the equater of the coconut will do the trick for it. Forgot to mention that little detail.😅)

i think rather than doing a blind taste test, it would be more accurate to have one person seated at a time and presented with all 4 dishes at the same time. the visual aspect of the foods is also important. this way, we can also see their reaction when you tell them where each dish originates from.

Big fan of your vids! I use to be a pro cook. The biggest bit of advice is get your mise en place(it’s French for things in place) together. What I mean by that, is any thing that can be prepared in advance(chopping things, juicing things, weighing out ingredients etc) should be done in advance. It will make cooking multiple things at once way, way easier. Other then that good job! Feel free to ask anything about cooking and I’ll happily answer.
Edit: the onion ring batter. So I haven’t read this book but based on the ingredients it sounds similar to a tempura. One neat trick I learned for tempuras, is to foam up what ever carbonated liquid by adding salt and mixing, slowly incorporate the flour. I’d you’re using a wheat based flour as opposed to rice flour fold it in and be sure to not over mix of glutens will develop which will make it “chewy” as opposed to light fluffy and crisp.

If any future recipes call for bay leaf, they are usually in one of two places, usually at a dedicated grocery store like Food City, Kroger, Winn Dixie, or an equivalent. They are usually in the fresh produce section, or the aisle that has assorted spices and seasonings. One other place could be the organic section

I really enjoyed this episode and hope this becomes a series. It reminds me a bit of Barry Lewis’s early youtube videos from when he was teaching himself how to cook. Lots of energy and excitement coming through. Makes me want to buy the cookbook and cook along with you as you stream cooking the food.

I cannot TELL you how much I loved the transition from groceries to table! I really dislike the whole "getting groceries montage" thing that so many UA-camrs do. Very well done! I love this series so far

This was amazing! Your passion/confusion/wonder in the kitchen was fabulous to observe. Seeing people guess was hilarious. And this shows an interesting side to D&D. The only thing I want would be to see people's reactions when you reveal stuff to them. I want them to evaluate the dishes again with full knowledge of everything. I am looking forward to more episodes in the future Duke!!
