Next session I'm making the party fight snack monsters. Meaning monsters that are giant versions of snacks. Gummy bears, jolly ranchers, Doritos, an ooze made of cola and a gargantuan sized piece of pizza. Rofl!! When I could afford to bring snacks to my games I always brought a large cheese and cracker platter. I figured it was moderately healthy, relatively mess free (cracker crumbs won't kill your character) and best of all, it was bread, meat and cheese, so it reminded me of mini DND rations 😂 Otherwise I'd bring chips. I always brought a few types of soda though lol. Cream soda became a favorite of mine after a while though. I don't drink alcohol a lot, so the bubbly golden soda made me think of mead (aesthetically, in the right glass that is)
I was the dinner bringer. I would bring a crockpot full of whatever - buffalo chicken dip, chili, cheddar broccoli soup with a bread bowl... and yeah having a full meal did cause the session to pause, but that just means we picked back up in a half hour ready to go!
I’m the snack bringer of our group and I bring a fruit tray, veggie tray, 2 bite brownies, giant bag of M&M’s and all dressed chips. I am apparently doing DnD snacks wrong lol
I played in-person before Covid, now we're online. When we were in-person, the guy who owned the house we played at would have either a bowl of trail mix or veggies for us on the table, sometimes both (carrots and ranch are so damn good). Then, we would break for pizza for lunch after a few hours. Worked out really well, and I miss those days...
Only problem with it is if you need vegetarian/vegan gummies. Those can be a pain to get. Also the gummies can melt and get sticky if you touch them too much.
@@Merilirem eh can always swap 'em out for a less sticky candy than like starbursts or toosties rolls, or whatever other piece of candy people like. Gummy bears just add a face to the monster lol
One DM that I played with used Starburst candies as enemies. If you kill it, you eat it. He'd apply a little label sticker and write numbers on them to indicate which one was which. Also, the wrapper ensures that it's clean, even after being on the gaming table and being labeled. Gummy bears? More like rubber bears! Have you ever met someone who can chew one? You might as well gnaw on the DM's car tires.

My go to seems to be a bottle of water ... When I once GM'd for a new group in person, they had a bunch of snacks and things prepared, it was a really cool experience! Of course I graciously accepted a selection of snacks, set it aside to run the session, and never got to eating any of it. It was a good game.
Wow... the group I used to play with were apparently fancy. Two young married couples (my partner and I, and our DM and his wife), and we used to do homemade food pot luck, and actually have a proper sit down dinner for about half an hour to an hour as a mid-session break. We had everything from cajun pasta with collard greens, to homemade chili, roast chicken, and bbq ribs. We used to take a walk together to go get pizza from a small local pizzeria on occasion too, but the home cooked meals were the big hits.
As my group got older, we've gradually shifted from gas station candy, chips & pop towards things like chorizo, snazzy bakery pastries, high end cheese, wine, home brewed mead . . . basically as we got more money most of us became foodies.
I had a long term dm a player in a campaign with my family, and we brought out vegetables and fruit and he was shocked and thankful because no one brings that stuff and it was a nice change of pace.
It doesn't matter what the snack is, what matters is your players continue bringing offerings to the DM for hopes that theirs might gain favor over the other, and might even see the DM's mercy one fateful day. Pizza.
One of the people at the Arcana would sometimes go around and collect money and orders for chinese takeout or dollar tacos from Taco Bell. Or there was one guy in one of my d&d groups that always bought a pizza. If all else came to fail, there was a little snack bar at the Arcana where you could purchase drinks and snacks. Going hungry was not an option in d&d 😂

My argument why double stuf is not my favorite Double stuf isn’t even double, it’s just a bit more Double stuf = more space taken up in the box which means less cookies More stuf overpowers the flavor of the actual cookie itself making it feel like stuf between two crunchy bits with no flavor Thanks for listening
For dnd sessions I’ll make a tavern style beef stew, chicken and dumplings, some form of dessert and like four sides. We usually have it all ate by the time we get done but my players have full bellies and are happy
As the snack bringer may I address the missed concerns: The DM likes X, player A likes Y, Player B is allergic to soy which is in both X and Y, and bread, and chocolate. You need a snack to offer the non-players living in the house, and nobody but the snack-bringer thought about lunch. (It's a hot cooked chicken from the supermarket, a packet of mixed salad, a loaf of the DM's favorite bread and a packet of the only brand of wraps that doesn't contain soy and it took me two weeks to work that out.) Being the snack bringer is hard work dude.
I make fresh candies and appetizers, sometimes a simple dinner or whatever, especially if you're having a tavern scene actual food being eaten makes for a way more enriching experience

At my High School’s DND club, I’m pretty sure I’m the only one there who brings snacks, specifically for myself. My snack of choice? Whatever I can get .
Best snack is honestly not gummy bears, or candy for that matter. It is bite sized sandwich cubes. Variety in flavor, healthy with the right ingredients, can still be used for the enemies so players can nom on one after a kill, but it also avoids spiking your blood sugar and you can cater to multiple people's tastes without making anyone feel left out. If anyone has a better argument for another snack, I'd love to hear it.
Pizza every time. Me personally, I prefer Domino's but get a pizza from somewhere everybody likes and make it a pizza with toppings everyone likes or just get separate pizzas for everybody
I must be a heathen because the cheese and cracker platter is my go too. Carrots, apples and chips too. I detest fast food but it's because dnd is at my place and the friends never throw their items away. Bags all over, burgers forgotten in bags and drinks. It got so bad I had to tell them no more fast food and it caused a big fight. But that's when I made it a rule of no leaving without cleaning up. Once they realized the mess they were making everytime, it was agreed to snack platters through rotation.
When I play, I bring smoothies Healthy, it’s a drink so no chewing at a bad time, healthy, so no sugar rush at a bad time, you don’t crunch so loud you can’t hear dm Only downside is if it’s not thick or big, you will run out within an hour
I don't know if you've done this, but I'd love to see the Steamed Hams meme as a D&D session. You know, the party must prepare a feast for a noble for some reason, but the roast burns and they need to find a way to complete their mission... whatever it was... leading to the place burning down. I mean it writes itself.
Always use wrapped candy as your NPC standins. Unwrapped ones tend to get sticky, especially if moved around, and also they are going to be touched by people that are not eating them. Not a fan of eating other people's finger sweat.
How about pretzels? Salt, crunchy yet they don't make a mess. Vegetables with hummus if that's too healthy just add more hummus. Gummi candy is still the best though.
Okay look I am the mom friend in my group. Fruits and veggies are part of a healthy diet. So yes that is sometimes what I bring for the group. They groan for a little while but soon realize they are too hungry to argue.😅
I don't know if anyone will see this, but jello cake is a awesome treat. Just get a box cake mix (yellow or white) follow the directions on the box. Grease a cake pan and toss the batter in. Once the cake is done baking let it cool off. Use a fork and poke holes all over the cake, going straight down. If you can find like a cooking spoon where the end is the size of a dime also use that. Take a package of any flavor jello you like and follow the directions (don't do the part where you add cold water and put in the fridge) Scoop or pour the jello liquid all over the cake, making sure it gets in the holes. Toss the cake in the fridge to chill (maybe about a half hour, shouldn't be too long) Next get a box of instant vanilla pudding. Follow the directions. Once chilled and firm, fold gently with cool whip. Plop it on your cake and toss back in the fridge to keep cold. You can eat it pretty much right away or wait for whatever event you have the next day :) Its absolutely delicious! My family loves the orange jello.
"Pão de queijo mineiro" is my go to. It's a Brazilian food, translates to cheese bread, but it's not what you are thinking. Google it if interested. They are delicious, don't make too much of a mess, sonewhst healthy, and are pretty cheap.
Just make dinner/lunch (depending on the time of day) for the players! Gets you into cooking, you enter every game session with something different, and you improve a valuable life skill! Just gotta know everyone's allergies or dietary restrictions. Should be easy enough, unless someone's vegan. Not even Druids like vegans
As the snack bringer, honestly you need to just look out for allergies and diet restricrions, try to have something everyone can have. If it's the type that can and will get messy, have napkins.
In my experience, Taco Bell isn't a bad choice. Usual party has around 6 players so you can get the party box and everyone gets two tacos. As long as you bring enough napkins for the shredded cheese, you're fine. But yeah, 100% on the chips. Finger foods are out.
:) I’m not sure if we’re allowed to bring snacks to my current campaign as it’s in a library. Otherwise I would totally consider bringing something: probably some sort of cookie since they’re delicious when freshly made and several types you can eat and not make a mess. Fresh snickerdoodles would be the BEST campaign snack! Also, I don’t think they’re that hard to make… I never have enough time on the days we play though, so I guess it will remain a random comment

It got so bad I had to tell them no more fast food and it caused a big fight. But that's when I made it a rule of no leaving without cleaning up. Once they realized the mess they were making everytime, it was agreed to snack platters through rotation.
Yeah, that's not a food issue. That's a friend issue.
I love the unexpectedly good acting these skits have.
i love how he turns into a mobster torture sequence after being suggested to bring a vegetable platter.
hilarious. too healthy... lol
When I play, I bring smoothies
Healthy, it’s a drink so no chewing at a bad time, healthy, so no sugar rush at a bad time, you don’t crunch so loud you can’t hear dm
Only downside is if it’s not thick or big, you will run out within an hour
I had a character named "Toblerone" once, so for one session I brought the group Toblerones!
I don't know if you've done this, but I'd love to see the Steamed Hams meme as a D&D session. You know, the party must prepare a feast for a noble for some reason, but the roast burns and they need to find a way to complete their mission... whatever it was... leading to the place burning down.
I mean it writes itself.
the top ttrp snacks are
cheese dip, salsa, and tortilla chips (and plain ruffles are NOT cheese dip chips @ my wife)
Always use wrapped candy as your NPC standins. Unwrapped ones tend to get sticky, especially if moved around, and also they are going to be touched by people that are not eating them. Not a fan of eating other people's finger sweat.
gummy bears, gummy worms, just use all the gummy animals, and you can even use em for a druids wild shape.
We like taffy, no mess in your fingers and has a variety of flavors and a little bit of sugar but not to much.
or just do what my group of almost all bakers and chefs do: bring an entire fucking dinner and/or desert course to a session on a whim
How about pretzels?
Salt, crunchy yet they don't make a mess.
Vegetables with hummus if that's too healthy just add more hummus.
Gummi candy is still the best though.
My friends and I use to all pitch in $10 each and just order 2 pizzas with bread sticks plus a 2 liter. We'd eat before the session.
I know he is always teasing about telling about us dragonborn puberty but I really wish he one day explains it
But if he did that, the joke would have to end, and no one wants that.
Okay look I am the mom friend in my group. Fruits and veggies are part of a healthy diet. So yes that is sometimes what I bring for the group. They groan for a little while but soon realize they are too hungry to argue.😅
01:57 i love taco bell and it does not make me shit only after 6 hours at minium
We don’t need to worry about bringing snacks, we play at a dessert place 😂
I cook a whole big meal for my dnd group every time.
The few times I've actually played DnD that group was just eat before you come.
personally I’d do the veggie tray. just have a bacon ranch sauce to offset the healthiness
Toss the cake in the fridge to chill (maybe about a half hour, shouldn't be too long)
Next get a box of instant vanilla pudding.
Beer is a good snack. Pizza is kinda always a good idea.
Le gasp, he delayed dragonborn puberty! This is serious! xD
The biggest problem with fast food is that it's only good when warm, meaning people will rush to eat it and won't focus on the game
Now I wanna see DM's reaction to that "single or double stuffed?" question as the player silently slides out an overstuffed package.
Everyone gets their own thing of pringles (+ candy, Oreos and drinks of course :))
I like charcouterie boards for a game session.
As the snack bringer, honestly you need to just look out for allergies and diet restricrions, try to have something everyone can have. If it's the type that can and will get messy, have napkins.
Duke! Dragonborn puberty NEEDS to be made!
Chocolate that looks like rocks: 10/10
In my experience, Taco Bell isn't a bad choice. Usual party has around 6 players so you can get the party box and everyone gets two tacos. As long as you bring enough napkins for the shredded cheese, you're fine.
But yeah, 100% on the chips. Finger foods are out.
That slap after vegetables was personal and also I almost fell out my chair laughing, I didn't expect that at all XD
The last time I brought snacks to D&D I brought canned pineapple and hot apple cider
2:25
That SLAP was so visceral. So genuinely soul evicting satisfying.
Did you find the time? Even cold snickerdoodles would be awesome.
@@recap1843 we’re on break currently until June, so there hasn’t been a session in a while
@@hyzmarie RIP sorry bro
Me: Why don't you guys just bring the things the snack guy always buys? I mean, it's clear that you like it, and it's clear that it never causes any problems.
DM Duke: ......
Other Duke: .....
Me: What...?
*Broken Window Sounds*
I happen to like zebra cakes and single stuff oreos
Pizza and Dew has worked for over 30 years so ya I'll stick to that
I came to this video for legitimate snack advice.
And the guy goes with sushi ?
I bring my own peppered jerky and devour it like the barbarian I am
