  • Ryan Grigson has carved out a solid career in the NFL. But his stint with the Colts was possibly one of the worst in franchise history.

      Ballard is amazing at picking players. We had a string of bad luck with Qbs, coaches and injuries. I think we are finally out of the hole. Just have to stay healthy now.

    I was so hyped during his first offseason because Polian seemingly never signed anyone. All I remember is Greg Toler, Gosder Cherilus, and Ricky Jean-Francois being way overpaid and never doing well.

    First off great vid! Also we won 2 Div titles,and while I agree with a lot of what you said, Mewhort wasn’t a bust, and was picked in the 2nd. Also where Grigson doesn’t get enough “praise” for lack of a better word was some of his FA/Trade signings, Jerell Freeman, Mike Adams, Vonate Davis, Dqwell Jackson just to name a few. We all look back at him as if he was fully terrible but he wasn’t, he was an average to bad GM, he wasn’t anymore awful than many GMs I could rattle off my head. He made plenty mistakes as they all do, but Colts fans act like he was the worst in history and it’s not even close to true. Some fans never lived through the 90s lol where Grisgsons worst year would look like greatness lol

    Luck covered up Grigson for years, once the injuries came in and Luck wasn’t on the field you can see how bad the team actually was. Imagine if Ballard came in at 2012 and was given the chance to draft Luck. We’d probably have a Super Bowl and he would still be playing.

    As bad as Chris Ballard has been, and this pains me to say, Grigson destroyed Luck and left the team in ruins...And Luck single handedly took the franchise to playoff every year. They were bad all around, coaching, front office, OL, D...and Luck carried them all.

  • @bstark94
    @bstark94 Місяць тому

    Drafting 2 TEs right after drafting a franchise QB when you have no OL was CRIMINAL. Those two picks terrible. Hiring Pep Hamilton and his dumb college offense on top of that, got Luck murdered and led to him quitting.
    Drafting Luck and Hilton were the inly good things he did

    • @limitless_pulls
      @limitless_pulls  Місяць тому +1

      Nah those two picks were not terrible. Fleener was a borderline Pro Bowler in 2014, Dwayne Allen was also a solid tight end. You can't say it's terrible when those guys were great weapons for Luck to have. He had 4 off seasons after that though where he could've improved the O line and didn't.

    • @bstark94
      @bstark94 Місяць тому

      @limitless_pulls picking them both makes both picks work.
      Again, I'd rather have my rookie franchise qb survive than have a couple TEs. The Colts didn't give either of them a second contract.
      Awful picks, and the first indication that Grigson had no idea how to build a roster

    • @limitless_pulls
      @limitless_pulls  Місяць тому

      What do you mean picking them both makes both picks work? If that were true wouldn't the Hugh Thorton and Khaled Holmes picks both end up working? Not giving somone a second contract doesn't determine if they were good or not. An awful pick is a guy who doesn't do much for you. He doesn't produce, doesn't contribute, and makes basically no impact. That is not the case here, both those guys contributed a lot. I would not consider their careers awful, or say they ended up being a bust. Look at the rest of Grigsons picks, it's very easy for him to actually draft horribly. It's impressive that he got value out of those picks.

    • @bstark94
      @bstark94 Місяць тому

      @limitless_pulls sure, they caught a few passes, but at what cost? You said it yourself we had no offensive line. Those picks were extremely valuable, and to use BOTH on luxuries like TEs while lhaving no protection for your new franchise QB is absolutely criminal malpractice. Fleener was no Dallas Clark, which he would've had to be to justify that pick. Dwayne Allen was traded to the Patriots because he was a redundancy. Grigson was awful. I'm agreeing with your premise, I just think you were too lenient on him for how bad he actually was. Dude was playing Madden franchise mode with a real NFL team

      @@limitless_pulls by raw talent , speed , accuracy , size arm strength and intelligence and his pro readiness you could easily make the argument he was the most talented prospect at QB to ever get drafted. And was on a trajectory to be the best in the NFL, he was coming off an injury to his throwing shoulder and still almost won MVP if it wasn’t for an amazing season by Mahomes he would have. It should be the Mahomes Luck era and arguing over who was better but obviously that’s over lol

Also gave him credit for some other good aquasitions. He didn't have a great situation to start with, and he left the colts better than when he first was hired. But he still made some pretty big mistakes. I dont see how I was ignorant.

    It's trendy to hate on Grigson and all but he's not the one who let Bruce Adrian's walk and gave Chuck Pagano his job back. That's how I felt in 2013 and it's how I feel today. Cancer is a monster we all agree on that but this is the NFL and when you fite a coach who turned a 2 win team into a 11 win team for someone who never coached before you get what you get. Everything that came after would have been prevented had Adrian's been there instead of Chuck.
    Irsay is the reason Luck was ran into the ground. It wasn't on Grigson.😢

    • @limitless_pulls
      @limitless_pulls  Місяць тому

      I can't find anywhere that says exactly who's decision it was to let Bruce walk. It was probably a collective decision by the front office, which would include Grigson. But if you have something that says otherwise, I believe you. But what I do know, is no matter who your head coach is that offensive line would still be terrible. Grigson was the guy who decided not to draft O lineman in the first round. Grigson was also the guy who drafted some pretty bad O lineman in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. I'm not hating on him at all, I think I gave credit where it's due. He had some good picks, signings, and trades. If I just went with who is trendy to not like, I wouldn't like Chris Ballard. But Irsay isn't the guy who made those picks. So I'm intrigued to see how you think the Andrew Luck situation is Jim Irsay's fault.

    Ballard has just as bad. He let go of really good backup running back in Zach Moss. Now, there is no depth in running, so pray Taylor stays healthy. He is not aggressive when he comes to free agency, which leads to no depths in cornerback either.

    • @limitless_pulls
      @limitless_pulls  Місяць тому

      Yk the salary cap is a thing right? Let go of Zach so we could retain guys like MPJ, Grove, and all those guys. We also drafted several corners, so we do have depth there. Ballard is the guy who got Luck protection. In what universe is he just as bad?

    • @GG-mz7ob
      @GG-mz7ob Місяць тому

      @limitless_pulls That is the only good thing he has done that and Philip Rivers. Good greif Ballard was the guy gave you Rodrigo Blankenship, Davenport, Eric Fisher, Isaiah Roger's, Carson Wetz, Matt Ryan, Jacob Eason, Darrell Baker jr, and Evan Hall i can go on and on all bad choices so yes he just as bad.

    • @limitless_pulls
      @limitless_pulls  Місяць тому

      @GG-mz7ob Evan Hull played one game and got hurt? How can you say he was a bad pick, he hasn't had a chance to play. Isaiah Rodgers was a good corner idk how that was a bad one. Blankenship was also good until injuries. The rest of those were bad sure, but he's made more good decisions than bad. How can he be just as bad when he was the guy who revived Andrew Luck's career. The main thing Grigson did wrong, is what Ballard did right. I listed a solid 10+ guys that Ballard got us in the video, but I can get a few more rq. He signed Eric Ebron and subsequently knew when to let him go, singed Mark Glowinski, signed Xavier Rhoads, signed Stephon Gilmore, young guys like Jelani Woods, Josh Downs, Nick Cross, Rodney Thomas II, JuJu, and Will Mallory all look like guys who could become good football players. Just look at Ballard's drafts compared to Grigson.

      @GG-mz7ob literally said Blankenship had his career ruined bc of injuries. He tried to kick through hip injuries and it messed him up. Ya, obviously Isaiah messed up. But when he played he was good. Should've kept Gilmore for what? So we could pay him almost 10 million this year? He's good but I'd rather give a guy like JuJu Brents those snaps. He's young and has a lot of potential.
