What adds so much to these videos are your childhood experiences. I am a bit older than you but my brother had many Star Wars toys. His thinking was similar. Middle class and you knew you could not have everything.
I had all three MPC Structors kits. I got them from Lionel Playworld at a Mall back in the day, between 1984-85. I still have my original MPC Structors AT-AT. As a kid, I had painted it gray and added some painted details with black paint. I also acquired some years ago another AT-AT and AT-ST in sealed boxes. I opened the AT-ST and put it together and left it unpainted. It is displayed beside my AT-AT. That AT-AT is my favorite Structors while the C-3PO is my least.
Two follies in one? No way! Great vid as always and I really appreciated the use of the ‘Zilla roar on threepio. Any chance we see Godzilla or other Kaiju in a retro blasting Video?
Unfortunately the vintage Godzilla toyline that everyone thinks of is from the 90s and I know Retroblasting covers modern toys (specifically fan toys of Star Wars)
Thanks so much #RetroBlasting, and a big thanks to Nathan Cloud as well! Great episode, and yeah, my old 4-LOM (aka Zuckuss) figure began a mild fascination with the character that carried into the EU/Legends stories...good days that will be long remembered! 🤘😊 #BlastOn
Just wanted to say thank you. Your video on the Rattler was a life saver. With that video I was able to fix a wheel that was on the wrong way and replaced a missing landing gear and situate it in gear down mode. Really appreciate that .
That bit with c3p0 attacking the stormtroopers makes me want to get the micro collection and that c3p0 just so I can display him attacking the micro Death Star
Id love to see more Broken Vader videos, interviewing some of the retroblasting toys... Sign me up to see the 3 quarter high cast of The Black Hole, Tron and Buck Rogers chat and interact with No Arms of the Sith! Every ep ends with Michael puzzled how figures got out of display case (yet rants at Vader!)
What awesome, innovative Star Wars toys, especially if you like motorized ones. This especially appeals to me because I love prepainted snap-together model kits. A short but sweet Star Wars Follies!
I had no idea of their existence until one of the recent livestreams, and now this episode. Good to know about the copyright dates. They're just funky enough I'm going to try and track some down now.
I owned and built, and still have some of my MPC models, but never saw these wind-up toys! Pretty cool. The wind-up AT-ST looks close in scale to the MPC model of the AT-AT (larger well detailed with a moveable head but no wind-up legs) which in turn can go well with the micro collection battle of Hoth toys.
Why is Vader broken anyways? (Besides the events at the end of "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" where Obi-Wan broke Anakin as a man and Palpatine had to rescue him, thereby turning him into the Darth Vader we all know from the original Star Wars trilogy...)
"ALL HAIL!!! Nathan Cloud. The generous giver of the Star Wars Follies." He achieved the impossible. Many said "It could never be done..." I'm guessing it was blackmail...… Right?!
Talk about Nostalgia overload. My best friend and I got dropped off at the mall every weekend from around 1983 to about 1990. It was shoulder to shoulder in that mall on Christmas time. It is but a shell off itself these days, boasting a Library, Tech School, and practice area for The Predators(hockey team not intergalactic hunters). Not to mention Sbarro's, and Pyramids Cafe, both of whom have stayed in business all this time somehow.
I had the wind-up artoo as a kid. (Lived in BC). It's prob the biggest of the "if I knew then..." Items I had as a kid. Loved it. Miss it. Btw. Big thanks to you. Your vids are among the ones most influential in me starting my own videos. Anyone interested, can find me at atomic monsters in here. I suggest searching for Atomic Monsters Thrifting, without thrifting you will likely only find a band. Wind-up Artoo us a grail item for me. Love to put one in my bar/set.
I have the windup walkers, both acquired in the 90s. Always wondered about the ATST, looks like something based on concept sketchesrather than the movies.
I recall my dad gotten me a wind-up toy from a yard sale or something that was most likely a remolded version of this R2 it had a blue dome and a purple torso and sliver arms and this was in the 90s i wish i knew where i put this little robot maybe one day i'll find it
I had a wind-up r2d2 (in Canada), I seem to remember that its feet kept getting stuck while it walked, too. Didn't know they became rare later, it always seemed like a casual impulse-buy kind of thing.
Love the new intro but it needs the clip of Shipwreck getting eaten by the T Rex. Keep up the good work and we'll keep watching! Looking forward to retro toy con Greenville.
Fun episode as usual and the topic was interesting. The gags were also quite funny, especially the super-short Follies episode. I also enjoyed the goofy dancing Han Solo in the intro. I forgot about that. I want to go find the original video(whichever that is) to see it in context, because I recall that will be even funnier. Thanks for an enjoyable video.
You know if you painted the 3PO one black, and probably add a bit of customisation. You could probably make him a sort of Imperial enforcer Droid. Like what appears in the Force Unleashed video games.
Yes, Zoids, please. I had a few of those including the big battery operated brontosaurus one. Maybe do Starriors too since they had the same little pilot figures that sat in their cockpits. Were they related somehow?
I'm not American, I've never had these toys but i love watching these videos for the love of toys. I my self mostly have 2000s Transformers, and Gunpla.
Oh, this was painfully educational; I had a Takara R2 in fantastic condition because I had never played with it (I considered it a knockoff at the time I first got it in the 80s). I tossed it away like so much refuse...talk about throwing money down the drain...oh, the humanity....no, that line doesn’t fit...I just like a WKRP reference...of the Hindenburg disaster...anyways, it hurts to know the value of that wind up droid.
Regarding the lack of a Micro Collection AT-AT, I always thought Kenner's intention was to use the "regular" AT-AT with your Micro Collection figures (that's what I did). It was scaled more appropriately for the Micros than for the 3 3/4" figures, anyway. I never had the Micro Collection Snowspeeder to compare how it looked under the AT-AT's foot, though! :D
I still have my Takara windup R2 from childhood, but sadly it is missing the legs. I don't know what happened to them. I was hoping to find them in my lego bin, but no luck. So like your armless Vader I seem doomed to forever have legless windup r2.
3:58 You hit me hard in the nostalgia feels right there. Hickory Hollow Mall. Man, I loved that place. The arcade, the food court, the two movie theaters (one in the mall and one outside). The Toys R Us just down the street. *sigh* Great video!
It's like the old Transformers Rumble / Frenzy argument (blue / red). Only in this case, since one of them is a droid, clearly they have to use the droid name, hence '4-LOM' being correct!
I just got the AT-AT and AT-ST MISB. Despite being "brand new" the AT-AT doesn't walk well. Frankly it looks a lot like yours. It makes me wonder if I mis-assmbled it. It occurred to me that when you said that the AT-ST scales well with the old Micro Collection, that the AT-AT might scale well against the Micro Machines Star Wars toys.
That AT-AT is just standing there asking “Which one of turrets wants to get blasted first?”! And I think the mini TIE fighter was the most accurate, I couldn’t really stand the tiny solar panels on the Action figure scale TIE!
My little brother Dan had the wind-up AT-AT. I thought it was neat enough, but I'm more into vehicles that fly. ;) I am however, a model kit enthusiast to this day. Question: I realize that scale models are not "toys" per se, but they are a part of our childhood experience for many of us. Will there be a future SW Follies on the MPC model kits?
you brought back a lot of memories for me when you mentioned hickory hollow mall! i remember pretty fondly, i have heard they are trying to bring back and revitalize the area but i doubt that will happen, i dare not even go into rivergate mall and i am wary of going into opry mills but that's just the times we live in
What adds so much to these videos are your childhood experiences. I am a bit older than you but my brother had many Star Wars toys. His thinking was similar. Middle class and you knew you could not have everything.
Because of Vader, this is now Star Wars Follies 16, and you can't prove me otherwise
Yes
That DROIDS commercial in the middle destroyed me... Excellent job RetroBlasting!
Two Star Wars Follies in one episode. Nice
i may be have born after long after these toys, but i love Star Wars Follies!
R.I.P. Jimmy!! Even though we hardly know you...thank you for your service!!
"Threepio is prone to falling apart at the best of times..."
It's film accurate.
Yes
I love when you talk about vintage toys! Your enthusiasm always makes my day great!
6:05
Did he just predict that Rise of Skywalker scene?
You're right!
I like the new footage added to the full theme song intro (and the whole video as well).
What a great epidode. I never knew about these wind up toys. Thank you!
Love the new video always a treat to watch a retroblasting vid
Love the new edit on the intro. And as always, I look forward to the next video.
Just wanted to say thank you. Your video on the Rattler was a life saver. With that video I was able to fix a wheel that was on the wrong way and replaced a missing landing gear and situate it in gear down mode. Really appreciate that .
Retroblasting: You´re simply THE Best!
Keep on doing what you do!
You have so much love for your Content.
Please: NEVER EVER STOP!!!
love this channel. i was born in 73 in Atlanta. miss those days. Toys and Hobbies at Lenox Square:)
Awesome, TWO Star Wars Follies in one day! Well, one and a half at least. Love the new intro, glad to see Aaron made it into the credits!
That bit with c3p0 attacking the stormtroopers makes me want to get the micro collection and that c3p0 just so I can display him attacking the micro Death Star
Never knew about these pieces. I`m very nostalgic on vintage wind-ups. Would be cool to add these to my collection.
Id love to see more Broken Vader videos, interviewing some of the retroblasting toys...

2 Star Wars follies in one day? Thank you Mike, Broken Vader, and Zuckas.
i totally forgot about these thank you michael for jogging my memory time to buy them again loved them back 1984
What awesome, innovative Star Wars toys, especially if you like motorized ones. This especially appeals to me because I love prepainted snap-together model kits. A short but sweet Star Wars Follies!
Great video Michael, I really like the new intro
Excellent! I was unaware of these wind-up toys. As always, a funny and educational video!
I was standing, doing things around the house.
That intro made me take a seat.
👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼
I still have the AT AT & C3PO!!
And, I do remember buying them in a discount store called Pic n Save way back in the early 80’s.
I like the new intro, well done 😊 👏
The little animated Broken Vader on the title card cracks me up every time I see it.
I had no idea of their existence until one of the recent livestreams, and now this episode. Good to know about the copyright dates. They're just funky enough I'm going to try and track some down now.
Dude you crack me up with this one
I owned and built, and still have some of my MPC models, but never saw these wind-up toys! Pretty cool. I don't remember these, but they are cool additions to Star Wars. Big fan of the AT-AT though. One of my favorite vehicles from Star Wars.
These are great! Never seen them before. Great overview!
I remember these they were awesome
Always great to see Broken Vader. Thank you for your great content.
Action packed!!!!
You should make a Star Wars Follies episode about how 4 Lom and Zuckass had their names mixed up!
Agreed. Showing what it would be like makes us want it even more. 😉
Still have my AT-AT frim Kay Bee Toy Store. Never saw the other two out in the wild
I choked on my soda at the beginning of the video. Thanks.
"ALL HAIL!!! Nathan Cloud. The generous giver of the Star Wars Follies." He achieved the impossible. Many said "It could never be done..." I'm guessing it was blackmail...… Right?!
New intro graphics, cool. I really like it
'4 the love of Michael' (and Melinda!) ; )
Oh man Hickory Hollow Mall that brings back memories so many of them.
Wind-up Artoo us a grail item for me. Love to put one in my bar/set.
Very cool glad Vader is back and we get more follies
yay! More broken vader please. 👏 very cool video highlighting these adult collectables. Lol.
I have the windup walkers, both acquired in the 90s. Always wondered about the ATST, looks like something based on concept sketchesrather than the movies.

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a wind-up r2d2 (in Canada), I seem to remember that its feet kept getting stuck while it walked, too. Didn't know they became rare later, it always seemed like a casual impulse-buy kind of thing.
Man I wish I could find some nice, big display cabinets like those here in the UK!
Or houses with nice, big basements!
Love this intro
Oh right new episode
Love the new intro but it needs the clip of Shipwreck getting eaten by the T Rex. Keep up the good work and we'll keep watching! Looking forward to retro toy con Greenville.
Always learning something new on this channel. Thanks!
I never knew about that walking R2, now I want it!
I still have mine since childhood. As I live in Canada, they were available in stores here when I was young.
Star Wars Follies about the Micro-Collection. I think it's "Micro-Managed Galaxy."
@@justinthomas7222 thanks for the help!

@5:51-6:10
First time I saw the troopers really hit something...and they hit C3PO--with red optics!!
Cool , never knew about these! 8)
Those wind-up Walkers remind me a lot of the wind-up Zoid kits. Speaking of Zoids, will they ever find themselves on Retroblasting?
Yes, Zoids, please. I had a few of those including the big battery operated brontosaurus one. Maybe do Starriors too since they had the same little pilot figures that sat in their cockpits. Were they related somehow?
I had a feeling it was going to be a good day, THIS CONFIRMS IT!!! Thank you Nathan Cloud and thank you Retroblasting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not American, I've never had these toys but i love watching these videos for the love of toys.
I my self mostly have 2000s Transformers, and Gunpla.
I had those.

maybe you can do a video about how many toys were mislabeled or painted wrong or just the wrong figure in the package
Wonderfully informative and quite entertaining.
B I G ups for using the OG 1954 Gojira roar (might be the 84/85 one, but it's still legit AF).
I still have my Takara windup R2 from childhood, but sadly it is missing the legs. I don't know what happened to them. I was hoping to find them in my lego bin, but no luck. So like your armless Vader I seem doomed to forever have legless windup r2.
I never even knew these existed. I would have grabbed an AT-AT for sure.
OMG, this is absolutely hilarious!
Smart application of a little scalability ala Transformers style. Close is often good 'nuff at playtime.
5:52 Any y'all going to Burning Droid? I need a ride to Endor, I got some killer Hutt smokes!
3:58 You hit me hard in the nostalgia feels right there. Hickory Hollow Mall. Man, I loved that place. The arcade, the food court, the two movie theaters (one in the mall and one outside). The Toys R Us just down the street. *sigh* Great video!
Jimmy was only 1 day away from retirement...
It's like the old Transformers Rumble / Frenzy argument (blue / red). Only in this case, since one of them is a droid, clearly they have to use the droid name, hence '4-LOM' being correct!
YESSS ANOTHER STAR WARS FOLLIES!!!! I'm only 16 and this gets me excited. Keep up the great work Micheal 👍👍👍👍👍👍

New intro Michael. love it.
Dude that was awesome! You've really stepped up your game in terms of effects and quality. Kudos
That AT-AT is just standing there asking “Which one of turrets wants to get blasted first?”!
And I think the mini TIE fighter was the most accurate, I couldn’t really stand the tiny solar panels on the Action figure scale TIE!
I'm pretty sure that Hasbro did the name switch thing with the Transformers Autobot Jumpstarters Topspin and Twin Twist.
I just found your channel and think is great. Have you ever done anything on the Action Fleet Star Wars of the 1990s?
My little brother Dan had the wind-up AT-AT. I thought it was neat enough, but I'm more into vehicles that fly. ;)
I am however, a model kit enthusiast to this day. Question: I realize that scale models are not "toys" per se, but they are a part of our childhood experience for many of us. Will there be a future SW Follies on the MPC model kits?
Wow these are pretty interesting pieces. I never knew about them!
Michael I'm sending you my ashes. You killed me with laughter with that Jimmy skit.
4-lom forever 🤘
I’m 16 and I’m obsessed with these videos and the old toys
Lobot-y knows the trouble I've seen... Lobot-y knows my sorrow ;) Another great episode, Michael! thank you
Jajaja excellent video.
you brought back a lot of memories for me when you mentioned hickory hollow mall! i remember pretty fondly, i have heard they are trying to bring back and revitalize the area but i doubt that will happen, i dare not even go into rivergate mall and i am wary of going into opry mills but that's just the times we live in

Great episode guys!👍
I do not remember these growing up but they look very cool.
