Really impressive they've reused the same mold for TIE fighters for nearly half a century now!
You're here too? I'm used to seeing you on ChrisChan videos but Analog Toys too?
I wonder how much money that one piece of tooling made Kenner/Hasbro.
I LOVE that this included POTF2 vehicles!
The Power of the Force figures
being too bulky for their vehicles will never not be funny 😆 Great video, collab editorials is the way!
That was an epic crossover, and a brilliant, comprehensive study of the Kenner TIE-Fighter and it's lineage. Well done guys.
Great collab! Way more Tie Fighters than I knew about. We need a Gideon Tie Fighter with folding wings now!
I’ve built my own one as there not one so far
The 2010 Walmart Tie Bomber with dropping bombs and shooting missile is the perfect Star Wars vehicle I wanted as a kid but didn't exist. Absolutely the coolest Tie Fighter ever made.
How did this one look like? Was that the white one?
Broken Vader kinda reminds me of Edward Scissorhands, both of them are sad and will never have appendages.
The fact that the Kenner Tie Fighter has been used so much and reissued so many times with only minor changes is a testament to how bloody good the original toy was! I currently have the POTF variant from 1995 and intend to get the other versions at some point in the future. Army building Tie Fighters with one of each variant would be so damn cool!
This is a fantastic video. Great work guys, Sal, Tony, Michael. The incredible part of this video that I get from this is the community of toy collectors coming together to describe something they love.
You guys hit a grand slam homerun with this video. Outstanding. Admiring my TIE's now
This vid is EPIC. I can only imagine how much work had to go into this collaboration, but it was well worth it, IMO.
I still have my original white tie fighter, and Vader tie from when i was a kid and recently took them apart and got them working again thanks to the awesome RETRO BLASTINGS tutorial.
Excellent crossover. 🙌 Great seeing you Tony together with Sal, Michael and Melinda and of course Broken Vader and Toi Polloi all together in this beauty of a video 🙌👍👍👍
The Solo Force Link 2.0 Tie Fighter is one of the best.
I always thought the TIE Fighter was one of the coolest ships in Star Wars. I loved seeing all the different variations. Vader’s was my favorite and I never owned one. It has been a grail piece for me since early childhood. Awesome Collaboration! Thank you all!🙏
Great job gentlemen!!! I’ve missed Star Wars Follies and you certainly delivered!!! Thanks!!!
I loved going to Hills store as kid! I still remember their slogan "Hills is where the toys are"! I got a lot Star Wars and Super Powers toys at Hills. It was a great store back in the day.
My all time favorite toy collectors together! Awesome thanks guys!
One of my favorite toys I remember in 79 when I got it for Christmas.
I dont have the time or money to invest in collecting old Star Wars toys, but I always enjoy watching you document the original toy line. Good stuff. And yeah, the tie interceptor kicks loads of ass. Best Star Wars ship besides the x-wing in my book.
Wow. This colab is so great. Awesome to see everyone here
:: Remembers the Hill's department store commercial jingle:: "Hill's is wwheeerrreee theee tttoooyyyyssss aaarrreee!"
Love it . Now we need a broken Vader scale tie. Love the shows
I really appreciate the reference to Garrison.
I grew up listening to prairie home companion and playing action figures. Love the video!
Fantastic history of the Tie-fighter. I never had one until the POTF line.
Thank you, Michael, Tony, and 2 Cent! Incredible video, incredible detail, incredible content!
I clicked like in the first 5 seconds. Broken Vader watching toy polloi was brilliant!
These days I snatch up every stormtropper I can find. Not just for display but also for when my done uses them he needs more villains than heroes. That's part of what makes it fun.
There are some Chinese sellers on ebay that are listing five packs of storm troopers for around 19 dollars. I can't speak to their quality or authenticity, but seeing them I was tempted to pick up a couple sets. If for nothing else, for troops in the background of displays.
Great video, but the plight of Broken Vader, brought a tear to my eye. 😁
Handel cameo!
Every Star Wars toy are so very cool!
Hills namedrop! One of the greatest, most beloved department stores, ever, particularly for toys back in the '70s and '80s. Anyhow, quality video, as always!
(edit for spelling typo)
They had Real Ghostbuster and He-Man toys till 94!
I think my favorite TIE is the Toys 'R' Us exclusive. With its white-gray color and large solar panels, it is the perfect hybrid of 1970's Kenner nostalgia and more-screen-accurate design.
Awesome review! 2 thumbs up brothers! 👍👍
I've got one of the '95 ones. For years I thought one of the wing clips had been lost and even checked ebay a few times for a replacement. I was going through an old toy box from my dad's garage the other day - there it was! It was really satisfying to put it back together.
Fascinating video. I'm 55 now and recently became the proud owner of a 1995 TIE with the rear grip. Yes....I've flown it around with the sound effects going on my phone. Fabulous fun.
Another amazing, well researched, well shot video!!! This generation has no idea how hard it was to pass up "POWER OF THE JEDI" merchandise when you were broke!!!
You ever seen a Tie Fighter pilot cosplayer? Those helmets are huge in real life, man.
Love the intro with Toy Polloi
Such an epic crossover with the best toy experts ever. greetings from South America
Best cross over since Family Guy and the The Simpsons. Great work to all involved.
My workaround for putting Vader in the POTF TIE was simply putting one of my spare Batman Capes on Vader. the c ring fit his neck perfectly and it gave him a battle damaged look.
That skit with the at-at driver, trooper and tie fighter pilot was great.
Possibly my favorite vintage toy video ever, since the TIE Fighter is my favorite starfighter - Thank You!
Those TIE interceptors look amazing - I want one! Wonderful, in depth video, guys!
Loved this video. Great crossover and a great return to what makes this channel great.
This was soooooo good ...such a great vid !
Superb video guys - it’s like a super group of my favourite toy you tube channels - can’t wait for the next one.
Handle? Handel, handles everywhere! Ha ha. Great video guys..
Wonderful to see you all on the same video. Great info about the Tie Fighter and very well presented! Congrats on an epic video!
This was an awesome retrospective and collaboration. Nice work guys.
The Solo Tie Fighter has a pretty neat battle damage feature.
Out of the park. Thanks for the entertainment guys!
These videos are interesting, well presented and well narrated.
Great video as always, what a brilliant crossover
Having RetroBlasting in a video with Analog Toys and Two Cents Toys really does show how much he has issues with modern toys vs. vintage. We all like what we like but it doesn't mean what you don't like is bad stuff or inferior.
You’re talking utter nonsense
Your emotional immaturity is showing, as is your inability to pay attention to content. I literally praise the modern TIE Bomber, the POTF2 TIE, and the big wing TIE in this video. You couldn't be more incorrect and misleading. Get a brain and then come back and try again.
My best friend had all of the Star Wars toys...he told me that his parents had credit cards and his mom was able to buy any toy he wanted as soon as she saw them on the shelves!
After high school I stopped by their house to say hello and ask if he wanted to sell his toys and their basement stilled smelled...a smell that will never leave my nostrils memory banks!
Great video, I really enjoyed this...thanks!
Fantastic video. I love the skits and solid info.
I picked up a Tie Fighter at the Goodwill Store a couple of weeks ago. It only has one wing, and both of the canopy doors are missing, but it was only $3. I'm planning to find some spare parts, hopefully all in different color variations. I'd like it to be a Tie from one of the border planets, and replacement parts are scarce.
Look up "star wars uglies"
@@garybuder4645 While I am familiar with the Uglies concept, that's a project for another day. My plan for this project is more along the lines of a Tie Fighter version of a beater car.
Another interesting custom would be the mining guild tie fighter from rebels.
Great collaboration, guys! That Tie Bomber (a Christmas present) is my favorite of the bunch.
Great entertaining and informative video, love the collaboration, the black series figure skip was hilarious!
I love the tag team approach!
Great video!
Love the videos you make educational interesting and nostalgic.
This is my favorite episode of star wars follies so far, an episode about my favorite ship from star wars with 2 of my favorite toy UA-cam channels. And I haven't checked out Two cents toys channel before but I did after this and am a fan of his channel now as well!
Great collaboration video!
Fantastic video loved every minute!!!!👍👍👍👍
This was a really good watch.
Epic collaboration guys!
Most First Order TIE's were actually single-seaters. The one Poe/Finn stole was a "Special Forces" 2-seater variant. The X-Wing miniatures game produced both for their game, along with vintage faves of mine like the TIE Defender. If you see them in a local store, you should check out the original trilogy Falcon they produce. It's one of the most detailed models I've ever seen, fully painted. It looks like it came straight off the screen. Great video!
Great intro!! I loved it!!
Wow, great collaboration guys!😁👍. Great job by al.😁
AWESOME VIDEO!!!
Gary the red neck Stormtrooper deserves his own series!😂😂
26:10 I remember this exact thing with my Tie, I'd always hold it by the wings way back in the mid-late 2000s when I got it; told my dad to superglue them on to stop them from ejecting off. Biggest mistake of my life, lol- I still have the ship in my closet- still regret doing that.
More Tie in the diet is what the doctor ordered
Nice to see Buck Rogers can fly a TIE.
The basic Kenner tie fighter always reminds me of the ties in Star Wars rebels with the wide profile and small wings
Awesome video as always. You are all killing me with the handle/battery compartment though. I’m glad that went away. And yes, I’m 47 and part of the OT generation.
Great Video!!!
I was working at Toys “R” Us when the T.I.E. was re-released with the Power of the Force line, I had a father yelling at me because the X-Wing had sound and T.I.E. did not, like it was my fault it didn’t have sound. He didn’t want to hear anything I had to say and kept asking why we would sell it without sound.
Excellent video fellows!👍🏾
I received the original TIE fighter for Xmas '78. Still the best gift a 9 yr old ever got...and the land speeder 2 months later for my birthday was a great follow up.
Very enjoyable video lads 👍😎
Awesome video!
When we moved back to the states from Germany in 1979 I had to wait months for my Star Wars toys to arrive via international shipping.
So my dad got me a Darth Vader TIE fighter and an extra stormtrooper at a store stateside and that was all I had for a few months. Was grateful and got to know that TIE very well...
Tie Fighters are my favorite Star Wars vehicles to collect, I have so many Micro-Machines, ornaments, models and POTF iterations.
Amazing crossover.
I think this topic sort of sums up my feelings on toys in general and specifically Star Wars - I'm all for more accurate figures but not at the expense of them actually looking like playable figures. For me the peak was the 90s when we got figures of Ree Yees, Prume Face, Luke Bespin, Gammorean Guard. They had a perfect balance between accuracy and exaggerated toyline aesthetics. By comparison, I see many recent figures and they look like little more than scale models of the characters. The original TIE was awesome (though I never owned it) but those versions with the correct scale wings are ridiculously large for a toy.
You know what’s funny the Lego Tie Fighter released back in the early 2020 has wings based more off the vintage Kenner toy then the movie model like all the other Lego Tie Fighters.
I'm going to sound like one of the most spoiled kids in history, here, but I had the Landspeeder, the X-wing, the TIE, the Vader TIE, and later, the Falcon and the Snowspeeder. I actually still have them all, and I kept them in their boxes. I was so happy when that TIE pilot figure came out. I HATED putting regular Stormtroopers in the cockpit. I agree that the Vader TIE was VERY cool, but I never saw the Interceptor. That thing is cool. By the way, I used to use the 'hood/bonnet' on the front of the Landspeeder to store the weapons when they weren't being used.
the colab is great! make more pls
Growing up with just the POTF 2 TIE, I never knew the back part of the Kenner version was a battery compartment and that the wing panels were stickers and not molded. I always thought the 95 version was an exact mold re-release from 78. Great video as always from all three of you.
Great video, gentlemen! I really enjoyed seeing the comparisons, especially since I don't own any past the 2002 Tie bomber. As a music teacher, I especially enjoyed the Handel pun! Funny coincidence - the Darth Vader tie fighter was also the only one that I had as a child. I believe I received it for Christmas, 1979 as it has the original Star Wars logo on the box.
brilliant star wars follies tony michael 2 cents toys.
I managed to get the Soonter Fell Tie Interceptor in the '00s. I like the addition of the red stripes down its panels and the kill markings along its hull.
Happy Star Wars Day
If you're going to celebrate, May 25th is a better option.
When I build models of TIE Fighters I use Intermediate Blue, a WWII Navy color. Tie Interceptors get painted Gunship Grey. Mainly because of the toys! I just got my first vintage Darth Vader's TIE Fighter today and was wondering about the lack of slots in the cockpit hatches. I didn't know the white TIE Fighter (which I still need to find an example of) was also lacking them. My 2018 Walmart TIE will not hold its wings in at all. It almost seems like something is stopping the grooves in the wings from reaching the latches, but I can't take it apart to see what's going on.
Great history on the TIE Fighter toys from everyone!!!
Tnis makes me want to hunt around in my loft to find my original blue ‘83 Tie 😄
It’s here it’s here!
