- Cant pass up an XR that pops up on marketplace for a good price...usually means something is majorly wrong with it, but sometimes you get lucky. Lets see what happens with this near 30 year old XR250.
Thanks for keeping your conversation “clean”. I feel more comfortable sharing with my grandson. Keep it up!
You got it. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Another XR back from the dead! Awesome!!! Nice work on the stator. You're far more patient than I am. 🤬🤬🤬
Thanks man…I edited out a lot of swearing lol
Absolutely correct. Either nonethonal or fresh gas! Thanks for always sharing your projects. Wish I had your patience!
Thanks, I had to edit out some of the “non patient” parts 😆
Was super excited for this when I saw the community post. These things are really cool and I’ve always wanted to own one but I’m all in KDXs for now hahah. Great video!
Thanks Jason! I would like to get my hands on a KDX at some point too. They are as hard to find decently priced as these XRs are!
For sure and agreed! I picked up my first H series after a ton of work on my E series (a ‘94). Would be some awesome future content if you snag up a deal.
That wiring... good lord... Can't wait to see it through, very nice work!
Thank you! Yeah I couldn’t believe that it actually threw spark to the plug in that condition 😂
@Garage2Trail Haha, I know. Being in the audio and guitar gear world, I have seen some questionable wiring jobs too.
Nice bike bro!! I love those late 90s 2000s xr250&400!! Good work !
Thanks!
Woohoo! Love these videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man!
Good job! ONLY an XR would survive that kind of abuse.
Thanks! You got that right 👍
I like the repair using the tin inside the cover. I think I'll end up owning one of these XRs as well at some point
Thank you! I based my repair off the shape of the part that’s supposed to be in there. For some reason the previous owner never put it back! You can’t go wrong with an XR!
Very nice. I have a 99 XR200 i'm fixing up, this vid is helpful. these XR bikes are tanks.
Thanks, I’m glad it helped! I have done a couple XR200s on the channel. Check those vids out…that may help you with yours even more.
Nice bike! I'm sure it's gonna come out nice
Thanks Ken!
Great find and save your making these fixes look to easy . Going to need a bigger garage to put these finds in
Thanks! Yeah I’m becoming too attached to these bikes and have a hard time selling when I’m done lol
Love your videos.
Thanks Doug, I appreciate it!
Great bike great shape money in the bank love those bikes.
My kind of project bike. I have 96 XR200, 99 XR400 I had a 02 XR250. All bought cheap projects. The XR 200 is a keeper.
I have 200s and 400s as well. This is my first 250. Hard to let any of them go!
Nice job brother.
Thanks Cain!
@ your welcome Matt. I stopped using your name I thought it made you mad.
@@cainbeeping8480 not at all! I feel bad that you thought I was mad about it lol
Nice. Another good video. Tks.
Thank you!
Another good save! Hopefully the slider absence doesnt mean swinger has been gouged 🤞 but easyish fix. Save that rear fender for a while by drilling at either end of crack to stop the split. You got a plastic stitch / hot staple kit?
Thanks! Yeah in part 2 I’ll be addressing all of that. Luckily I got a slider on it and it didn’t eat all the way through the swingarm. She’s coming together very nicely. I did use a plastic welder on that fender too :-)
Good job again!, isn't the rear disc damaged from those worn pads?
Engine sounds healthy anyhow and smart idea to protect the wiring with the plate! 👌
Thank you! I will probably be replacing that disc in the rear…it’s not horrible after sanding it but it can still use replacement.
Nice done❤
Thank you!
Nice video I kinda wanna know how much you got it for now......picked up an almost ready to ride 78 XL350 for 900 recently
Thank you! I paid $800 for this one. They normally don’t go for less than 1k around me when their this complete even in non running condition. I’d say you got a good deal on your XL350. I have one of those too (74 model) and paid $500 for it not running.
Nice job. it looked a Perfect wiring job Someone had done.😂 to it m8 .
lol thanks Andy. I was in disbelief when I unraveled the tape and realized it was still throwing a spark with the way that was.
That would go good with my 96 600 and 400! I've never rode a 250. What's your thoughts on them? Great video!
I thought the same thing! Sitting next to my 200, 400 and 650R lol. I’ve never had one before and haven’t been able to ride this one yet, but will be soon. Watch for my first ride video with this bike at some point soon too. Thanks!
@Garage2Trail I'll definitely watch. I'm really curious if the minimal weight savings from the 400 is noticeable. The 250s are really hard to come by here in AZ!
@ my friend had a 99 XR250 with the 280 kit in it back in 2000-2001 and I remember it being a great bike in the tight stuff. I didn’t get to ride it all that much though and that was 25 years ago so I’m looking forward to getting this back on the trails.
@Garage2Trail I'm looking forward to your thoughts too.
Check that plug looks like it wasn’t threaded in all the way??
Thanks Dave, it’s in a terrible spot. Completely blind going in lol
Nice
It’s a new case cover. No case saver.
There is a cover and a small metal rail that goes with it as a thin “guard” to aid in protecting the case in the event that the chain binds up. Not as good as the aftermarket case savers though.
clean the carb and change the oil... it will run...
nice job on the wiring...
@michaelschlup-c5o thanks!
