I bought a new 996 back in 1999- fantastic car, way better than the competition and big enough for someone my height to fit in. Acceleration, handling and cornering were fantastic
Greetings from California! So my dad has an old 2001 Carrera 4 , and since he retired recently, and doesn’t really drive at all that much, he gave it to me and now I drive it. Despite this, I only drive on weekends as well because I already have a daily driver. But wow, what a car! It’s old but this 996 generation is superb. I’m debating on whether or not to add an aero kit to it. Even by itself, it’s still good looking.
Excellent video! Loved it! The headlights are what made me want a 996 in the first place. Been 11 years now and still drive almost daily. 996 turbo X50 tuned.
Lets be honest, all 911's become a classic. I love the 996 4S now (hated it back in the day) The curves are so cool, the red strip at the back, all analogue, small and nippy compared the the much bigger 991 & 992. Only let down is the interior. I was going to get one of these, but was lucky enough to get a Cayman R. But I still think about selling and getting a 996 4S with a 3.9lrt engine re-build. Nice.
I was having this conversation with Tim about how the interior hasn't aged well but I also think at some point this will look cool. Back in the days we use to put MK2 Golf Dashboards into Mk1's. Now you would never dream of doing that.

I have a 2004 996.2 C4. I absolutely LOVE the headlights and always have since it came out. For me the “fried egg” headlights are the ones on the 996.1. Not that I dislike those either. As the years go by many people are realizing that they are a lovely and quirky deviation from the round headlights. I mean a 911 is a 911!!!

I've been daily driving my 996 for the past 7 years. I wash it maybe 3 times a year but never skimp on maintenance. I just passed 150k miles on it and it doesn't seem to slow down in the least.
Had my 1998 c2 996 for 3 years plus it replaced a E90 m3 that I hated . Best car I’ve ever owned not the fastest but 3 years on I love it more. So much depth and character in it Mines got a Hartech 3.7 upgrade and aero kit One of the only cars I’ve had that makes me still turn round when I walk away

Yes it’s the handling, the aim was to get as close as I could to gt3 rs handling. Of course that isn’t totally possible as the c2 shell I have here isn’t as stiff as the c4 shell used for the gt3 and gt3 rs. It’s good enough for me as I’m not Lewis Hamilton😂
