This is how I feel about my wife Linda. She passed away on December 3, 2021. I have always loved this song, but now it is much more meaningful to me. We met in September 1969 and were married on June 16, 1971. She is God’s gift to me, a light of my life. We had 50 years together and 7 children. And I also know that some day through the power of Jesus Christ I will be with her again. ❤ - Matthew 16:19.
I am so sorry for your loss. 50 years together is amazing and have 7 kids brings you lots of grandkids for sure. I hope you can find comfort in the memories you made with her and in your family. In the end you will be one again.

Kind of ironic that Lou did not like Foreigner's previous ballad, "I Want to Know What Love Is," which is almost like this song, because he said it would destroy Foreigner's reputation as "rock stars" (although their first real transition into ballads started with "Waiting for a Girl Like You," to which Gramm did co-write the lyrics). Gramm was not involved in the authorship of this song nor "I Want to Know What Love Is;" both songs were composed entirely by group leader and guitarist/keyboardist Mick Jones (Jones did state he did like "I Want to Know What Love Is," noting it was "full of hope.).

At the time, I obviously only had my Walkman with me, so out of boredom I bought this album knowing that you can't go wrong with Foreigner. For me, the best music video in history. It shows the birth of life, and why we are born, for love. And it shows all the love between living beings. Incredible
This is how I felt about the love of my life. We met 12-31-77 and married and were together for 40 years until they passed away in 2017. It's a hard life without them. There isn't one day that goes by that I don't cry. I was so lucky to have had their love. I thank God every day for making it all happen.
I remember laying on my tummy watching Friday Night Videos in the 80s. I've always loved this song. Its 2023 and I just saw Foreigner perform. They didnt perform this song😢. Lou Gramm has the best voice!!
I express these sentiments all the time. Such a magical time. So much seemed so right with the world back them. Sometimes I wonder if we were faking it....
This was our wedding song that my wife and i danced to. I heard this song for the first time driving to Louisville, KY to propose to my future wife. Now more than 35 yrs and still going strong
My little girl used to sing along with it to me and she would sing so sweet and I never knew how that would impact me. She died 2/28/18 from a drug overdose. During her celebration of life we held for her it was one of the songs I played. 💔
We're lucky to have classics like this at our fingertips. With all that we're dealing with in America these days, music like this saves one from sinking into despair. We owe you one, UA-cam...
We can bring it back. All of us can. I myself make edits on 80s movies and 80s songs. On UA-cam people don't care for them. But on TikTok they really appreciate it.
Everytime Foreigner writes a ballad ("Waiting for a girl..", "I want to know what love is" and this one) it's becomes no less than a touching musical diamond!)
Foreigner is such a great band, especially in the 80s. I remember this video when i was little, and the great thing about the video is that not only does the lyrics have a romantic meaning, it goes deeper than that. It's maternal, paternal. It's just pure. Although i knew nothing about life then, i felt something deep and meaningful through the images along with the lyrics. But, now that i have lost the most important person in my life i feel every lyric even more stronger. This songs is quite the little gem❤.
"Song is beautiful...memories of being with my dearly departed....but god needed him more...in this cold Covid world life for me will never be the same..my advice to anyone who has met THE ONE..folks cherish every hand-hold...every kiss...ladies the way he stares at you...fellas treat her like a queen...because you never know what the future might bring....god bless everyone"
I bought the cassette 3 times back then, because I kept wearing it out. Only saw the video recently. They didn't have Mtv when this came out and nobody would show it. Great video.
@@carolthompson5335 Well. I'm from the Carolina area. Here, that band is not a well known group. Not like The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Skynyrd. Btw. The Eagles are a better band than the first 2 I mentioned. My opinion though.
My goodness, this song is like a time machine to me taking me back to my senior year in high school (1988 graduate) reminiscing about old friend and good times.
Corporate radio has a small tight play list. Reached #4 in 1988. If it wasn't a #1 or #2 hit they won't play. Sad but true. Corporate radio has lost a lot of good songs and that why you don't hear it anymore.

I have 5 favorite songs downloaded on my phone and this is #1. I just love it. Lou Gramm's captivating voice and the musical arrangement sooth the soul. It speaks to all of us that have treasured love. The band's best years are were when Lou sang and co-wrote songs with Mick Jones. Whatever your love is don't live without it...............
For me, the best music video in history. It shows the birth of life, and why we are born, for love. And it shows all the love between living beings. Incredible
Thank God I got to grew up in the 80,s , the best music ever, take me back
This is how I felt about the love of my life. We met 12-31-77 and married and were together for 40 years until they passed away in 2017. It's a hard life without them. There isn't one day that goes by that I don't cry. I was so lucky to have had their love. I thank God every day for making it all happen.
One of their more beautiful love songs ever.
definition of this MV is ‘during the world was straight’.
I remember laying on my tummy watching Friday Night Videos in the 80s. I've always loved this song. Its 2023 and I just saw Foreigner perform. They didnt perform this song😢. Lou Gramm has the best voice!!
My mom always told me when I was little back in 86’ she would turn on vh1 during the night and this video was always on. Now I’m 37
My deepest condolences to anyone who never grew up in the 80s. :(
I express these sentiments all the time.
Such a magical time. So much seemed so right with the world back them.
Sometimes I wonder if we were faking it....
The 70's!😎😉
And the 70's
@@harrymaule6038 Yep!!
Turned 12 Y.O. in 1970....perfect timing 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Beautiful timeless song and what a voice from the magnificent Lou Gramm. Love him. Love Foreigner.
Heard this groovin track on my friends Bluetooth one day at work & just had to Shazaam it! So glad I did. Classic tune.
I'm sorry 😔
My deepest condolences. May she rest In peace, but just know that even though she may be out of sight, your souls are bound forever ❤️.
Deepest sympathy 🙏
😢😢😢
🥺💔💔
One of the best songs they made . I don’t want to live without you. Amazing in every way.
When you know that you've found your true love, this song fits perfectly 💙💛💜💑

We're lucky to have classics like this at our fingertips. With all that we're dealing with in America these days, music like this saves one from sinking into despair. We owe you one, UA-cam...
This is what you call real music. I’m a 27 year old man with an old soul. This music will forever be more meaningful than todays music.
The 80's had the best music Love this song.
We will not get 80's vibe again, so sad😢😢
We can bring it back. All of us can. I myself make edits on 80s movies and 80s songs. On UA-cam people don't care for them. But on TikTok they really appreciate it.
Everytime Foreigner writes a ballad ("Waiting for a girl..", "I want to know what love is" and this one) it's becomes no less than a touching musical diamond!)
LOVE THIS MUSIC
This is the way I feel about Mary it was great!! 9 months and she's gone I'm lost and dead on the inside...
Another forgotten song gem haven't heard seen this since I was young. Thanks for reminding me about this beautiful song.
Thanks to him for showing this i havnt heard this before cause im young
I bought the cassette 3 times back then, because I kept wearing it out. Only saw the video recently. They didn't have Mtv when this came out and nobody would show it. Great video.
I feel the same way about my husband. 28 years together.24 years married. He's such a good man.
That is so nice☺
...Obra musical como esta, la deberían escuchar las nuevas generaciones, qué hermoso tema...GRACIAS FOREIGNER ...
Bill, my long time boyfriend took me to go see this group. I still remember where we went downtown Columbus,OH.
Beautiful song and that voice of Lou Gramm's is powerful, warm with a distinct clarity.
Awesome singer who is overlooked with an amazing band. Nothing else matters.
It hard to be a star in the shadow of steve Perry
No not overlooked
@@carolthompson5335 Well. I'm from the Carolina area. Here, that band is not a well known group. Not like The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Skynyrd. Btw. The Eagles are a better band than the first 2 I mentioned. My opinion though.
Lou Gramm.
@@bertposton589 Lou Gramm is the GOAT. Perry was good but Gramm was a step above.
Fantastic song, one of the best soft rock songs of the 1980's.
My goodness, this song is like a time machine to me taking me back to my senior year in high school (1988 graduate) reminiscing about old friend and good times.
❤😂 ANOS 80 E 90 : POIS É IMPOSSÍVEL ESQUECER O INESQUECÍVEL 😂❤
Oh!! My Goodness!! This. Song. I. Remember it Well!! So. Many Memories!!
I love this song. I don't know why they don't play this song on the radio these days. One of the best videos ever.
Corporate radio has a small tight play list. Reached #4 in 1988. If it wasn't a #1 or #2 hit they won't play. Sad but true. Corporate radio has lost a lot of good songs and that why you don't hear it anymore.
My all-time favorite MTV video. So sweet! I'll never tire of it.
I still remember this video. Loved how mellow this song is. Reminds me of better days that once were.
THIS IS REAL MUSIC.
CLASSIC FOREVER.
GREAT VOICE.
Gracias AMOR x la canción ,,,TE AMOOOOO 🌹😘💘💝💟💏
Song does not get the attention it deserves. Lou’s voice, the rhythm of the beat, the smooth melody of the keyboards, and the poetic, romantic lyrics.
To the one always on my mind don’t be afraid to reach out I won’t reject you I miss you more than you know🙏
A FINE BAND FROM A MAGNIFICENT ERA OF MUSIC 50S 60S 70S 80S 90S ,,SINCE THEN MOSTLY SUBSTANDED GOBBLE
Still miss my wife,at times I wonder what I could have done differently, but everything happens for a reason, I truly love her and my kids, I didn't know my life would turn out like this!
@@alexwilsontellosifuentes802 Siempre, saludos bro.
I remember I was 14 when this came out and I thought it was an unusually special tune. Then I saw the video and it became an instant favorite. It just never got the attention it deserved. When that heart bursts out of that little soldier . . . too cool . . . too cool.
To my twin flame it’s been so tough without you🙏❤️
I have 5 favorite songs downloaded on my phone and this is #1. I just love it. Lou Gramm's captivating voice and the musical arrangement sooth the soul. It speaks to all of us that have treasured love. The band's best years are were when Lou sang and co-wrote songs with Mick Jones. When Lou left the band, the sparkle of creativity for songwriting was never the same.
