    Only issue I had was how hypocritical Stolas was during him and Blitz’s argument. Him saying that it’s sad how Blitz only thinks that he wants sex, when Stolas was shown to literally *only* talk about that with Blitz is just wild to me 💀

      I mean... The night at Ozzie's def showed that Stolas was interested in more than just sex, and while Blitz was hate ranting to Fizz in "Oops," Fizz outright spells it out to Blitz that JUST from his hate ranting, Fizz can tell Stolas has more than horny feelings for him. But Blitz just doesn't acknowledge that possibility because he's drowned himself in self-loathing.

      I don't even see any point in have serious discussions about Stolitz anymore. Have you considered that Stolas was purposefully written to be hypocritical? That maybe having awful social awareness is a consistent character flaw of his? @@RandomGameCritic Especially since the pitch bible leaked about a year ago, and guess what? Stolas wasn't even in it! It was initially just going to be "assassins in Hell of all places" with Blitzo's main character focus being chasing after the one target who got away from him in his prime. Stolas wasn't in the pitch Bible at all, and Brandon confirmed at a con that the pivot to writing Stolas as Blitzo's love interest was Viv's idea later down the line.

    This episode just made me hate Stolitz as a ship even more. It’s ALWAYS about the million reasons why they can’t get their shit together ie trauma, communication, etc, rather than giving us a single reason WHY they should be together. Like why should these guys be together? Really why? Their relationship is nothing but toxic and manipulative and borderline abusive. They don’t bring out the best in each other. They don’t fix each other flaws. They are not compatible.
    There is only so far I can accept the whole “they’re both too broken…I feel so bad for them not being able to work things out.” It’s an explanation not an excuse and it’s getting old very quickly. I am so tired of this toxic song and dance between Blitz and Stolas and its never ending communication breakdowns and this stubborn and frustrating incapacity of either of them fucking listening to each other.
    And if that does not change soon and no accountability is given either side, don’t even bother getting them back together.

      My biggest issue is that they have zero chemistry. They tried to give them chemistry one time in that cringey scene where Stolas laughed at all of Blitzo's so-called "jokes," and that was it. In the "Oops" episode, Fizzarolli and Asmodeus had genuine chemistry. Blitzo and Stolas do not have that chemistry. Honestly, my favorite part of the whole episode was the plot with the DORKS and cherubs. I was sooo happy when they finally showed up after like, a whole season, and the fight with the IMP agents was great. The part that lost me was that Stolitz argument at the end. It felt like the writers were trying to make Blitz the bad guy, along with some of the fans saying stuff like "ooh he triggered Stolas' ptsd by shouting at him" when he had an absolutely sane reaction to Stolas dropping that absolute emotional bomb on him. Stolas seriously expected that Blitz would stay with him voluntarily? When has he ever expressed that he wanted more than that? Ozzie's, where he literally showed discomfort/shame at the idea of being with him? Does he expect Blitz to read his mind?? "I didnt think you thought so low of me" that line pissed me tf off. Like stfu. When has he ever acted any better than the other royals?

    I’ve never been able to put into words the mindfuck that is the Helluva Boss viewing experience but you’ve managed to articulate it perfectly in this video lmfao. It’s a crazy mix of the show disappointing or boring you yet shocking and impressing you at the same time. Sometimes you ride the high of a batshit episode and think it’s the best shit in the world but the more you think critically of it the more you find wrong with it in its writing and direction. OR it’s even the other way around!! 😭 like with full moon I thought it was mostly just lame and meandering padding to set up the ending everyone was waiting for (it’s still kind of like that tbh) but truly like..without Loona putting doubt into Blitz’s head earlier, the Stolitz fallout probably would’ve felt unearned and even random. And I’ve learned to appreciate the beginning song as well overtime since I thought it was forgettable at first!! But now I find it charming and a little catchy. At this point I’ve learned to just turn off my brain and avoid thinking about the show in a more meaningful way cuz clearly Viv is doing whatever the fuck she wants and we can’t do anything about it besides witness its peculiarity lol

      My thoughts exactly, for me this is why it’s so hard to turn away from. There are just so many things I feel like it gets wrong, to the point that it gets painful the more I think about it. But at the same time, it always has a few moments of greatness combined with (at least recently) exceptional songs, fun characters, creative concepts, and at the very least being daring and doing things that haven’t been seen before in adult animation (which at the same time, makes it feel worse when it does mess up). This combination can make everything about this show a bit of an obsession, so it’d be in my best interest if I took a step back and just accept whatever this show decides to do.

  • @benjaminfricke4791
    @benjaminfricke4791 25 днів тому +16

    We’re gonna have to agree to disagree a bit on this one, because personally, while I thought this episode had a couple good scenes, it felt kind of messy overall.
    The subplot with the villains was (in my opinion, of course) not terribly interesting on account of the characters involved being some of the show’s weakest, and the whole thing felt extremely out of place compared to the rest of the episode. It’s a completely unrelated subplot that mostly serves as *another* plot hook for future episodes (because nothing about it is resolved at the end), and as a result, I couldn’t really feel anything about the fight because there wasn’t really any *weight* to it narratively, y’know?
    Furthermore, because the Cherubs take up over half the episode, I feel that they detract from the emotional impact of the final scene, because it takes up valuable time that could have been dedicated to a more focused buildup.
    Point being… I dunno. It was okay, I guess, but all those things stopped me from really *liking* it. I’m not terribly optimistic about the rest of the season.

    I think that this episode will only be rankable in retrospect. They set up so much things correctly here... they just need to actually work with this setup. If they forget plot points that happened, start retconing stuff at random, if the payoff is uncharacteristic/undeserved, this episode could be remembered as a massive "what if", such as the character of Stella before they decided to make her one-dimansional. However, if they actually deliver... sure, i agree.

    You’re also not the only one who complained about these things and I personally think that some crew members do watch some videos like yours and you’re not the only one who’s talked about having problems with the show. I think they listen. Sarcastic Chorus even mentioned them listening in one of his videos. And yes, the series has problems but since it will get more seasons and it is an indie show I think it’s finding it’s footing now and I personally was never bothered by the show’s flaws. I just love the good things about it and mostly just ignore people who calls themselves Helluva/Hazbin haters because I don’t care if the show isn’t perfect I just love it and don’t want negativity connected with the show.
    So while I do see your points and listen to criticism of the show, as soon as it gets too ridiculous for me to call it fair criticism or it starts criticising Vivziepop personally, I’m out.
    It’s like Harry Potter. I don’t need to judge JK Rowling as a person and I don’t know her. I enjoy what she’s made and am grateful for how it impacted my childhood but more than that I don’t really care what she does. She’s a stranger in the public eye and all I want is to read her books and be happy about it. Which I am successful in.
    The same goes for Vivziepop. I don’t care if she’s a wonderful person, I don’t care if she starts murdering people, I love her shows and I respect her for what she’s done and she’s an inspiration for many of the books I’m currently writing. I also love her art style and don’t see the big deal in most of her “controversies” but maybe I’m just too much of a fan to see her flaws but I’m honestly fine with that.

    So, call me stupid or whatever, but I didn't realize what the opening song was about until it was like over. I had completely forgotten about the whole "once a month on the full moon" thing, and I mean can you blame me? From what I can remember it was brought up once in the first episode, which was uploaded how long ago since these episodes are released months apart from each other. So, yeah I didn't understand why seeing stolas's alarm clock thing was important so then I didn't understand why stolas barfed when he saw it and then I didn't understand like everything. This is very very nitpicky, I know, but sometimes just the simplest of things like including: "note to self: blitzo's coming over" or something like that on stolas's thing that we saw that showed that that day was the full moon day thing. Little details like that can really go a long way even for those who already knew. Not only would I actually know why this is a big day the first time, but it could also stand out as a day Stolas eagerly anticipated, given that he set a reminder for it so he could be sure that he would be prepared. Nitpicky, I know. I have so many, like the sounds they put when blitzo was blinking after stolas said how he felt, yeah, that infuriated me and for me, kind of undermined the serious and genuine tone I thought they were aiming for in this scene. I know Blitzo treating it as a joke shattered that mood anyway, but if he had just, like not blinked and instead the music had stopped right as Blitzo and Stolas make eye contact and simply stared at each other for that moment, it would have truly made the viewers' hearts sink when Blitzo starts talking about it being a joke, just like how it hurt stolas when blitzo said that. I could go on with the nitpicking. In the end, it's just nitpicking, and I don't have any real problems with this episode.

I know this is so random, but as someone who loves this show and will keep loving it no matter what. I remember one line of that song that perfectly fits my view on the show- and maybe yours -, "Enjoy the ride with, ups and downs." Okay, this is random as hell- and some part of me is just promoting Daisuke Ishiwatari's work, WHICH YOU SHOULD -but taking that mentality of enjoying something with the highs and lows, and no matter what, and finding something to take away and enjoy about it, is something I hold dear to my heart. I hope this show gets better, and don't get me wrong, I love it the way it is now (some parts, the insect joke wasn't the best), but I truly hope it gets better and shows the world what it can be (hell, I'm half dedicated to becoming a writer and slinking my way into the studio to make that happen, but that's just wishful thinking), a brilliant show, one could say, a HELLUVA good show- I'll show myself out.

    I think “an endless roller coaster of highs and lows” is a bit of an overstatement. I mean, it went downhill once and that was it. I think the time between episodes really shift the expectations, and if it went down once, since it happened over a year, people saw it picking back up again and thought it keeps going up and down. It went up and down once, so if it goes back down again then the sentiment of a roller coaster makes sense, but right now I think it’s too early to tell. Even though we’re in the ladder half of season 2

    "I don't trust this show". If there's anything I agree with the most, it's this. I feel there is potential for Stolitz to not only be entertaining, but to be an actual relationship with good chemistry. But I'm scared that the writing might screw it up (example, always coddling Stolas's character so he's always in the right despite his flaws).
    Another important thing is writing quality might change based on who it is writing the episode. Unhappy Campers, for example (most fans agree it's the worst episode due to bad characterization and other things) was not written by Viv or Brandon. (Not saying they didn't make any decisions or had final say, mind you, just that this might impact things).
    However, Brandon himself said that Helluva Boss going forward has significantly better writing, so that may show some self-awareness. He also wrote (all or almost all) of Ghostf*ckers.

    Great to see you do a short reviews even if there's no more Sins, I'm fine with this! The show does have enough I like about it to keep watching (though I waited a bit to watch this one), and I do think the episodes recently are better than something like Unhappy Campers, but it's been such a seesaw in writing that I just assume any good points won't last. If they do, great, but I thought the show had found its footing after Harvest Moon through Ozzie's were great and we all know what happened there.
    Also, yeah, Stolitz has zero chemistry. Stolas started their relationship with sedxual coercion, every convesation they have Stolas makes it about sex, and the little time we do get a genuine connection hint it's all just mentioned as a thing that's off-screen. That's not how you write relationships.

    would of been a good episode if there was actual build up to the scene (in previous episodes) and if the first half of the season wasn't ass.

    And we still have 15 years of who knows what Blitz did other than work at Lulu land have a girlfriend adopt Luna broke Moxy out of jail what is a hitman and a bodyguard which can answer for the last five years for the Hitman service before stealing the grimoire and another 3 years for the other stuff but we still don't know what was happening in between and during that time seeing if you had any other relationship with any other Nobles they gave him any bad Impressions about Royal demons

  • @JediMasterRevenantMADNESS
    @JediMasterRevenantMADNESS 25 днів тому

    EVERY single show has bad episodes. Teen Titans, Avatar the Last Airbender (bad example cause it only has 1-2 throughout 3 seasons but you get my point), The Clone Wars, hell I'm sure Invincible had at least a couple episodes people didn't like. Batman TAS had bad episodes. Spider-Man, X-Men 2009, and so on. I don't think some bad episodes make the show bad, nor do I believe they should kill your trust entirely. But it's your opinion, and you feel the way you feel for a reason. I do KIND of get it as I myself feel a lot of this season has been hit or miss, but overall I still think it's pretty good. Have I found the show's equivalent to The Great Divide? Yes. Was it bound to happen eventually regardless? Also yes. Do I think that kills the entire show and I have to expect the worst every time? No. If anything, and again just throwing in my 2 cents, the good moments should give you hope. They prove just as much as the bad moments that each episode can go either way. What matters is how you feel about the show at the end of the day in its entirety. If you decide you still like it, great. If you decide you don't, also great. Less great, cause it's more fun with more fellow fans, but nobody can take away from you your feelings on it. I feel like I keep saying this, but it's true. I appreciate and respect you're at least giving reason why you dislike something and not just blindly hating on it for no reason at all.

    I'm reaching a point where the community's lack of faith in Vivziepop is just facinating. Not that I disagree. I also have trouble believing she's going to stick the landing and not screw this whole thing up somehow, but I'm still here. It's... facinating.

    Hot take: I LOVE how this episode pays off the tension in Blitz/Stolas relationship, but the rest of the episode was pretty meh imo, especially considering how many previous characters it brought back into the frey.
    The DHORKS and CHERUB just didn't feel particularly funny or interesting this time around, and the I.M.P. members just showing up to fight without the audience knowing they were there wastes the opportunity to actually show their perspective before the fight and build anticipation.
    Blitz isn't my favourite character by a longshot, but for this episode in particular it felt like any time he wasn't the focus was very underwhelming.

    I disagree with the point you made at 1:37
    yes, its true Blitzo rarely explicitly stated he hated rich people; however I do think it's very implied. You have to think about the fact that imps are practically at the bottom of hells hierarchy so for blitzo he and practically every other imp has been belittled by those with a higher status their entire lives. Hell, even stolas himself does this, belittling him by calling him "blitzy" and "little imp" and not treating him seriously and respecting his boundaries in the circus episode (ep 2.) For this, I think it wasn't terribly out of place for him to say this about royals.

  • @Laughingbear289
    @Laughingbear289 24 дні тому

    I would like to say that I think Blitz not hating rich people is the point. He thinks Stolas only pretends to care about him so that he can get laid, cause in his mind he is not a person that is worth loving or caring about, so his supposed hatred is born from his insecurities rather than any actual bias against rich people. I would also like to say that my biggest problem with the show is a lack of focus and planning ahead, thats what really drags down the show for me. But hey the last three ep was pretty decent with this episode selling me on Stolitz so we will see.
