Every SCG 4-player commander game ever explained: Everyone attacks Wes from the start and only Wes, all negative spells are also aimed at Wes; Wes stops whatever board Stephen and Jon have and it doesn't seem like they can come back from this; Justin then establishes a commanding boardposition; Wes dies first; Justin lets Jon win somehow.
+Thorsten Böhme also note how Stephen says: "We gotta stop Suarez, he won both videos" at 1:07:00 (somewhere there) after attacking Wes and only Wes for more than an hour. Like really Stephen? After 1 hour you realize you should go after Jon?
I said it on the last one, but these weekly videos make this series so much better. Watching you dudes is like watching an actual playgroup (except with excellent production value). Heck, this week 2 of you even threw in flavor. So awesome. I feel like I always go back and forth rooting for Parnell and Stephen Green. Suarez is a cool guy, but he wins too much, and I don't know if anyone hopes poor Wes "Cryptic Command" Wise gets the victory (just know, I love his place in the group).
Same about rooting for Justin and Stephen. I just couldn't root for Suarez last week especially, because he did almost nothing and won, with Justin at 1. I kept shouting for everyone to attack him lol. And sometimes I feel sorry for Wes, but he kinda deserves to lose. He just doesn't defend himself enough, and almost always misplays Cryptic Command. It's actually a really good card, and he makes it look bad.
I actively root for Stephen and Wes to win at all. It's tough though because they seem to be oblivious to on board tricks, like Aura Shards. I think a lot of it begins at deck building. Justin and Jonathan clearly run the superior lists each video.
Starcitygames: I think the season finale deserves some massive Tribal: Mono White Soliders; Red Black Vampires; Green Black Elves; and some other tribal deck that Wes can be salty about...
There are so many good decks, like wizards, merfolk, humans, vampires, soldiers, vampires, elves, minators, goblins. Just some are broken, like mono blue wizards haha
You guys need to do the New Phyrexia Legendary cycle including Elesh Norn Grand Cenobite, Jin-Gitaxias Core Augur, Shelodred Whispering One, and Vorinclex Voice of Hunger.
I would love to see you guys all play 5 color decks. Have Steven not play super friends since he previously did in a 1v1 video. Great videos guys as always keep up the good work!
Five color general good stuff! Reaper King vs Horde of Notions vs Scion the Ur Dragon vs Sliver HivelordJustin on King, Wes on HordeJohn on SliverEstabian on Scion
Danny!!! D-West at the Grand Prix! Now, for my suggestion, commanders are Return to Ravnica/Gatecrash guild leaders, and make the decks on theme with the commanders. Niv-Mizzet spell-slinger, with Sphynx's Bone Wand as the win condition, Jarrad with graveyard shenanigans, Rakdos with a bunch of demons, and Borborygmus Enraged as either Stompy, or finding a way to discard about a million lands for the kill. Keep up he good work!
Did Suarez have the 3 blue for the cryptic command he cast? It looked like he tapped maze of ith and ancient tomb (For black I assume), and then tapped temple of deceit and creeping tarpit for blue.
Dear Wes, a course in psychology. Negative thoughts = negative performance. No need to pressure yourself, do some breathing exercises every day and whenever stress kicks in. It helps with focus and improves thought clarity. You seem to take everyone way too seriously and then you pummel yourself with negative thinking. You can look it up if you don't trust me, I actually encourage you to. You're not a bad player, you just sabotage yourself unnecessarily. Been there done that, so, yeah. :)
To be honest, I win a lot with Debt to the Deathless. It is just a really good card. Still, I am always rooting for Jonathan Suarez, because he plays largely unassuming decks, and those are the most fun!
For the final episode, I think it would be cool if everyone put together a deck using only cards from a single plane. For instance, Ravnica could use Ravnica block, RTR block, and cards like Soul of Ravnica and Bounding Krasis.
Can someone explain what was going on with the Arcbond? The way I understood the turn Chromium was attacking Green and Tar Pit was attacking Parnell. How did Parnells creature take take damage if Tar Pit is unblockable?
I have a recommendation for a two player commander versus match. How does Narset v. Zurgo sound? It has plenty of Khans plot relevance and I'd like to see how a well built Zurgo wrath Voltron deck deals with Narset nonsense.
Part of me feels bad for Wes, but the other part realizes that he attacks every chance he gets and then gets mad when people attack him. You don't poke all the bears in the cave Wes. That never ends well.
+soulblacknight Agreed. You gotta keep your power plays for later in 4 player commander. Don't push your board presence ahead unless you can do serious damage otherwise people will have answers and you will have a target on your back.
I agree he is a very aggressive player that takes every chance to get even the smallest advantage even when he could and should save certain cards for later. He is a good player and used a good deck build but played way to aggressively.
I'd love to see you guys draft letters for you decks. Group a couple of the less used first letters of Cards so that you can have a roughly even draft and then have the person who goes first take C so Wes can't have cryptic command
Hey Starcity Game gentlemen your Season Finale for this season could be a four way game of all "goup hug" decks or "chaos decks" that would be really entertaining and rules challenging.
Can you guys do an episode were you all play just weird Commanders with a lot of unique interactions, such as, Norin, Phage, and most importantly Mishra, I'm working on a Mishra and a Norin deck now and would love to see the amount of WTF moments that would occur from having all those different mechanics playing against each other.
congrats to all the team, for your amazing job, if you can make a video with all the kans or the dragonlords of kans. and also i would like some help for a deck teck for my commander, Narset, Enlightened Master.
I just want Wes to win a game. I vote that Wes gets to play with a no-ban list for the final, and Justin, Jonathan, and Stephen all have to play with weatherlight legends for their commanders.
1:25:30 Justin cheated for some reason. They told him he needed double red for Inferno Titan, so he picked up two red sourced then put one down and still didn't pay the double red.
+AlmostSkillfull The land he wound up putting down is a filter land. It lets you convert one generic mana to either RR, BR, or BB. So he taps it and a forest for RR, then the other four lands for 4.
Yeah. It's not easy to tell those things with how far back the camera is-- the downside of the four-man games I guess. Doesn't help with the Rakdos lands almost all looking the same either.
You guys should play a commander cube! Or if you'd rather, play archenemy commander pitting the three lower scores vs. the top scoring player (i.e.Suarez). I bet tons of people would love to watch either of those.
1:32:24 I respect you guys, but I have to admit that it was pretty sad that a single Maze of Ith ruined all three of you. I understand you didn't get a lot of land removal, but still, ATTACK Jon! Great videos so far.
Although the original Elder Dragons are pretty awful, Bolas is still legitimately kind of scary. Find a way to give him haste; turn him into a pinger; find a way to be able to untap him; sit there. When someone does something you don't like, let the crossbow string go and make them lose their hand.
I really want to see Glissa, the Traitor. I've been a fan of the card for a while, and I've been looking in to making a commander deck for it. I'd love to see what one of the guys comes up with for the card.
+Darryl C I'm pretty sure that in one video they admitted that they sort of fix their opening hands that way no one starts the game mana screwed or mana flooded because that doesn't make for a fun video to watch. Notice how in every game they always get their early ramp spells like Birds, Expedition, mana rocks, and Kodama's Reach/Cultivate right off the bat.
So the challenge was to design themes for the last episode? Sounds good. Here are my best shots: I Can Show You the World: Play Planechase Commander with everyone using one of the planeswalker commanders. (Take it up a notch: Each player picks a commander from all planeswalkers, not just the ones with the text "can be your commander.") Game of Thrones: Each player plays with a different commander with the word "King" or "Queen" in the card name. The options are Brago King Eternal, Brimaz King of Oreskos, Darien King of Kjeldor, Garga Zol Plague Queen, King Macar the Gold-Cursed, Lady Zhurong Warrior Queen, Meng Huo Barbarian King, Oona Queen of the Fae, Reaper King, Savra Queen of the Golgari, Sedris the Traitor King, Sliver Queen, Sol'Kanar the Swamp King, and Tymaret the Murder King. (Take it up a notch: Each player also plays Throne of Empires, Crown of Empires, and Scepter of Empires in their decks.) Now I Know my ABC's: Each player picks a different letter, then builds an entire deck where all the cards except for basic lands all begin with that letter (including the commander!) The Worst Thing About Censorship is *********: Each player plays a banned commander, but no other banned cards in the whole deck. In order to prevent this setup from becoming a snoozefest, each player builds a deck, but they are distributed randomly where two players will switch their deck from the beginning, so there's a 50% someone else will play your deck, so don't build it broken. (I'm sure this could be alleviated by having someone view each deck to make sure no one is trying to go for some ridiculous combo win or something.) I Love Watching Wes Play Archenemy: Play Archenemy Commander with Wes playing the new Ulamog and the rest of the gang playing one of the new allies from BfZ. Another similar idea would be for Wes to play a group slug commander, like Purphoros or Jarad or Nekusar, and everyone in the gang to play group hug commanders, like Braids or Selvala or Gahiji. The Future is Now: Each player plays a commander who has the subtype "Artificer" or "Daretti". (Take it up a notch: Prevent all damage that non-artifacts deal throughout the whole game.) Commander's Block (pun intended): Each player picks a legendary creature printed in an expert-level expansion (or whatever you call a set that was at one time standard-legal) and plays with only cards printed in the block where the commander was first printed. (Take it up a notch: all the basic lands in the decks also have to be from that block.
+MagicalHacker And one more! Ladies' Night: All cards featuring a male more than a female are banned. All commanders are women. (Take it up a notch: no males in any card's art.)
Commander Challenge: must include X color. You could do it in WUBRG order. Like one week everyone would have to include white so you'd end up with like Avacyn, Teysa, Zedru, and Sydri or whatever. You could force monocolor, but that seems too restricting.
im excited to watch this! Im just sad you aren't going totally old-school and sticking to all-white bordered cards (I have all white-bordered Vaevictis Asmadi and it's a lot of fun...even if it isn't strictly speaking terribly powerful)
I'd love to see five color decks for themes that don't have a 5 color commander: allies, spirit/arcane, rogue, giant, beast, and maybe planeswalker or artifact. The decks would have to use all 5 colors with a fairly even split. I'd also love to see a game where none of the decks have the same card except basic land. You might need to do a pseudo draft where 1st pick takes sol ring, 2nd (Wes) takes cryptic command, etc. I'd even like to watch that draft process. If you really wanted to push that, it would be for 2+ weeks worth of decks to force less staples and more interesting choices.
How was Stephen Green able to use his planeswalker's damage ability to take out Tamiyo? His ability says specifically target creature or player. I was under the impression that a planeswalker did not count as a player. Someone PLEASE explain this to me ha. I'm a new player and find that move really confusing.
Wow I know play groups have different rules they play by in commander (some are much more relaxed than others) which is fine. For example if u tap 2 mana leaving a white open when u meant to leave a blue open most the time that's ok (if it's caught and corrected immediately and not the next turn) but u can't declare attackers and and put ur creatures sideways and wait for the player to respond with blockers, instant etc. And then say oh nevermind. Or when someone ends their turn and forgets to use their planeswalkers ability for example and a turn later says "Oh I forgot Sonim going to do it now".
If only Stephen had a Mycosynth Lattice, Bludgeon Brawl, and Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker. Play the Lattice and Planeswalker, equip Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker to Nicol Bolas the dragon, and smash. Nicol Bolas beating them to death with a Nicol Bolas.
I would like to see 5-colour tribals - Like Horde of notions elemental deck, Reaper King scarecrow deck, Sliver overlord sliver deck and scion of the ur dragon dragon deck or Atogatog atog deck :P
I love watching wes play archenemy
Who doesn't?
+GravekeeperLove Yep. Their threat assessment is kind of tough to watch.
+Carl Katt steps to watching a versus video
1. watch Justin and Steve kick the shit out of wes.
2. watch Johnathan win..... again
yea...
+GravekeeperLove you forgot wes casts cryptic on something and a bigger threat is played in the next 2-3 turns

You forgot to add: someone horribly misplays a card the entire game.

Love these videos. Would love to see a Tribal VS video.
36:25 Those draws!! That's hysterical
Finally a video with the original Elder Dragon Highlords! I can't wait to watch this when I get off work. Thanks guys.
You guys should totally build around the Nephilims from original Ravnica
Awesome game guys! I really enjoy watching Commander VS Series!
I feel so bad for Wes. everyone gangs up on him. I know you can make it Wes, we all believe in you!
When Wes played Batterskull and put it on Arcades, the Mirari's Wake would have kept his Germ Token alive as a 1/1.
Starcitygames:
I think the season finale deserves some massive Tribal: Mono White Soliders; Red Black Vampires; Green Black Elves; and some other tribal deck that Wes can be salty about...
+Adam Kaiser Minitors
There are so many good decks, like wizards, merfolk, humans, vampires, soldiers, vampires, elves, minators, goblins. Just some are broken, like mono blue wizards haha
+Adam Kaiser Batter play with some unusual tribes, like minotaurs, centaurs, druids, rebels, mercenaries, sphinxs, etc..
BkxLounge Better Idea: Slivers or Superfriends
How about salt tribal?
I am just here for Nicol Bolas...
Same
i am sad that didn't happen...
I came here for Arcades Sabboth
Poor Wes, they didn't need to kill him off at 5 life :|
Bit of trivia. Vaevictis is Latin for suffering/woe to the damned/conquered. Pretty badass.
Can you have David McDarby guest star for this? I'd even suffer through a 5 player game for his witty banter.
Suggestion (probably already mentioned): Tribal: Wes plays slivers, Justin plays zombies, Stephen plays wizards, Jon plays homarids
Or, at the end of one week's video, everyone rolls a d6 that's how many colours you can play the next week. (i.e. 0, 1,2,3,4,5).
4 color Nephilim, I know they are not legendary... but MarRo said they should have been, maybe make this a commander exception for 1 game?
Around 1:17:00, why was creeping tar pit able to be blocked?
stop going after wes
+rick grimes #Sparethewes
+rick grimes It's ridiculous how much they just automatically go after him and don't even consider how that is what is happening.
lol hes just so lovable lol
I love how when justin cast vaevictus, on the right side where it shows the card zoomed in its the damn deathrite tuna
I'd love to see commander/planechase mix again.
Love it when the guys start doing the "takes too damn long" tune xD
At 1:06:30 couldn't justin cast sakura tribe elder and kessig wolf run then give it +11/+0 to finish wes?
You guys need to do the New Phyrexia Legendary cycle including Elesh Norn Grand Cenobite, Jin-Gitaxias Core Augur, Shelodred Whispering One, and Vorinclex Voice of Hunger.
I would love to see you guys all play 5 color decks. Have Steven not play super friends since he previously did in a 1v1 video. Great videos guys as always keep up the good work!
1 point to Stephen Green for being a boss and not taking back that fact that he forgot to pay upkeep cost.
Five color general good stuff! Reaper King vs Horde of Notions vs Scion the Ur Dragon vs Sliver HivelordJustin on King, Wes on HordeJohn on SliverEstabian on Scion

Been there done that, so, yeah. :)
Make decks using alternate win conditions. Epic Struggle, Chance Encounter, etc. Can't wait for GP Atlanta!
This was super cool I love you all 😂
I demand Stephen gets points for actually playing by the rules. In a world full of cheat counters, Stephen Green. You are the true herol
To be honest, I win a lot with Debt to the Deathless. It is just a really good card. Still, I am always rooting for Jonathan Suarez, because he plays largely unassuming decks, and those are the most fun!
I was at SCG MKE and I was going to ask you guys to do a traditional game edh but looks like I didn't even have to . keep it up the great videos
Everyone who is going to the GP needs Justin to sign their Maze of Ith
At 1:17:20 Justin blocked an unblockable creature. Anyone else notice that?
For the final episode, I think it would be cool if everyone put together a deck using only cards from a single plane. For instance, Ravnica could use Ravnica block, RTR block, and cards like Soul of Ravnica and Bounding Krasis.
1:08:34 Wes should have had a 1/1 Germ because of Mirari's Wake. It ended up not mattering but it still irks me.
Can someone explain what was going on with the Arcbond? The way I understood the turn Chromium was attacking Green and Tar Pit was attacking Parnell. How did Parnells creature take take damage if Tar Pit is unblockable?
+bladeraider91 Chromium attacked Justin and Creeping Tar Pit attacked Stephen.
Why does Wes not pay the commander tax upkeep of blue, white, green mana for his general? @50:00
Would love to see each of you do a tribal themed deck!
ALL OUT SLIVER BATTLE!!!! man i can see it now. an all out sliver battle with legon queen hiveloard and overloard
+Eric Holley when he cast that Bribery so early I knew he would become a target. He should have saved it for later.
Ravnica Guildleaders! Jarad v Isperia v Borborygmos v Rakdos or something similar.
I'd love to see you guys draft letters for you decks. Group a couple of the less used first letters of Cards so that you can have a roughly even draft and then have the person who goes first take C so Wes can't have cryptic command
What do you guys think of all a 5 colored commander. So chromat, scion, the sliverlords en atogatog or something like that. Just an idea :)
woooooooooh my favorite day of the week u guys are awesome keep it up
Hey Starcity Game gentlemen your Season Finale for this season could be a four way game of all "goup hug" decks or "chaos decks" that would be really entertaining and rules challenging.
I think they should all use Unhinged/Unglued commanders.
congrats to all the team, for your amazing job, if you can make a video with all the kans or the dragonlords of kans.
and also i would like some help for a deck teck for my commander, Narset, Enlightened Master.
Infect vs infect vs infect vs infect OR each of you choose a RtR or Ravnica guild and guild leader
I would love that four infect decks but which colors there are a lot of choices
+Ethan Ford Ford The only options are really Golgari or Mono Black. Maaaaybe Simic or Sultai, but it's really a choice of commander, not colors.
true
I would love rtr commanders.
I just want Wes to win a game. I vote that Wes gets to play with a no-ban list for the final, and Justin, Jonathan, and Stephen all have to play with weatherlight legends for their commanders.
Will Wes sign some cryptic commands at the GP haha?
What is giving them the ability to grant haste to their creatures around 30-38 minutes?
1:25:30 Justin cheated for some reason. They told him he needed double red for Inferno Titan, so he picked up two red sourced then put one down and still didn't pay the double red.
+AlmostSkillfull The land he wound up putting down is a filter land. It lets you convert one generic mana to either RR, BR, or BB. So he taps it and a forest for RR, then the other four lands for 4.
Ah okay, it can be hard to tell. I wasn't trying to say he was a cheater, just that he made a weird unnecessary mistake.
Yeah. It's not easy to tell those things with how far back the camera is-- the downside of the four-man games I guess. Doesn't help with the Rakdos lands almost all looking the same either.
did wes get a point for saving justin from lethal dmg with casting cryptic command on stephens spell ( and dying on the same turn :D)?
+Geh Scheißn in last weeks video forgot to mention that xD
You guys should play a commander cube! Or if you'd rather, play archenemy commander pitting the three lower scores vs. the top scoring player (i.e.Suarez). I bet tons of people would love to watch either of those.
Can you add horde of notions in one of your videos, I'm trying to build the deck and don't know how it plays.
1:32:24
I respect you guys, but I have to admit that it was pretty sad that a single Maze of Ith ruined all three of you. I understand you didn't get a lot of land removal, but still, ATTACK Jon!
Great videos so far.
Legendary creatures from both Ravnica blocks
what is Wes Wise doing? He's not tapping correctly when he casts Resurrection and Mind Sculptor
man for a guy who loves playing blue Wes is like the blue mage that flunked out of the tolarian academy
Because he plays blue cards way to aggressively.
A friend and I both have a commander deck and we're in V.A. Wanted to know if we could come your way and do a game of 2 headed Giant???
Although the original Elder Dragons are pretty awful, Bolas is still legitimately kind of scary. Find a way to give him haste; turn him into a pinger; find a way to be able to untap him; sit there. When someone does something you don't like, let the crossbow string go and make them lose their hand.
i really dident want john to win but eh it was an epic game good job guys LETS GO WESS U GOTTA WIN ONE!!!
I really want to see Glissa, the Traitor. I've been a fan of the card for a while, and I've been looking in to making a commander deck for it. I'd love to see what one of the guys comes up with for the card.
I wouldn't mind seeing a multiplayer Tiny Leaders for this series.
When Justin attacked Wes from 12 down to 5 how did Vaevictis have haste?
Good Video Guys
Could you do the next one using commanders from Battle for Zendikar?
do you not lose a point for attacking the last place player first anymore?
Do you guys draw hands until you get an acceptable 7 or are you all just very lucky?
+Darryl C Good point... How are they doing their mulligans?
+Darryl C I have always wondered how they did their mulligans
+Darryl C I'm pretty sure that in one video they admitted that they sort of fix their opening hands that way no one starts the game mana screwed or mana flooded because that doesn't make for a fun video to watch. Notice how in every game they always get their early ramp spells like Birds, Expedition, mana rocks, and Kodama's Reach/Cultivate right off the bat.
Didn't jonathan cheat when he tap his Maze of ith for mana to help pay for cryptic command, unless I missed something.
+party cannon he had chromatic lantern that adds mana ability to all his lands.
+party cannon he tapped it for uborg black mana
Lt Orange Taco Thank you for the clarification.
When is the new episode coming?
+Matthew Burleson (Choi) There will be a new episode of Commander VS every Wednesday so check it out then!
+Star City Games but its already been a week, 2 days past wednesday
+Star City Games but we didn't get an episode for this week. It's now Saturday, and nothing.
+naruto987139 (Choi) Episode 4 was already posted last Wednesday here: ua-cam.com/video/qKq_zjLSJU8/v-deo.html&lc

In order to prevent this setup from becoming a snoozefest, each player builds a deck, but they are distributed randomly where two players will switch their deck from the beginning, so there's a 50% someone else will play your deck, so don't build it broken. Let's get some Tier 1 commanders up in here!
Zur vs Narset vs Arcum Dagsson vs Oloro
Need actual archenemy deck on Wes' side.
Yea it is needed
what was doubling suarez's mana? i could not figure that out
nvm... I feel stupid now didnt notice the cabal coffers adding all the black.
im excited to watch this! Im just sad you aren't going totally old-school and sticking to all-white bordered cards (I have all white-bordered Vaevictis Asmadi and it's a lot of fun...even if it isn't strictly speaking terribly powerful)
30:45
Dang it Steven, you can't tap that Scalding Tarn for mana!
Unyielding Existentialism urborg.
chromatic lantern
Also: I'd love to see a Mono White Equipment / token deck featuring Kemba, Kha Regent as the commander :)
When you deal damage to a player with a spell or ability you're allowed to redirect that damage to a planes walker they control.
Oh I see. well that's good to know. Thanks!
Justin should play a land destruction deck next week lol!
Here's a fun idea:
Olivia Voldaren: Vampires
vs
Grim Grin: Zombies
vs
Geist of St. Traft: Spirits
How about doing 5 color tribals ??
I reckon you should do 5 colour tribal decks (elementals, avatar, slivers, allies)
Starcitygames:This is mainly for Justin but you need to get titanic ultimatum
one of them needs to run a Nemata, Grove Guardian deck
It would be awesome if one of them played Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker with Shadowborn Apostles
Everyone should play reanimator decks, or decks with matching themes but different colors and generals (I.E. everyone playing super friends)
I'd like to see all 5 color decks.
Does that count as Stephen calling Ral Zarek as a servant to Bolas?
I would like to see 5-colour tribals - Like Horde of notions elemental deck, Reaper King scarecrow deck, Sliver overlord sliver deck and scion of the ur dragon dragon deck or Atogatog atog deck :P
