Perpetual is still subscription WUP. Every year they get you to buy them again. Because your OS will break the plug in. Or your DAW.
@leevarino seriously?? I thought you just had to pay for a renewal license which is like 40 bucks and ALL your plugins would update for that year.
Every year you pay for maintenance plan for the same plugin, That's crazy
I stop using Waves a long time ago. I had over 60 Wave plugins. Every time I updated my computer, increased any harddrive size, changed parts in my computer, I had to wait a year, or buy it new. They were the only ones who did that. I got to where I was afraid to upgrade my computer. I'm trying to get the best DAW and they are telling me I can't, unless they get some money too. Upgrading my computers since Cakewalk DOS. First Waves Plugin, 199? I'm glad I stopped when I did.

Usually I try to stay away from templates, just cause I like to start fresh every time and not be influenced but what is there already. But I’d like to try and make one and sometimes try that approach as well! Let me know what you would like to have in it and maybe I’ll start from that 😁

You don't actually own them. You only have a license to use them legally. Just like music, movies and games. The owner is the creator, not the consumer.

i have the v13 version of my plugins and due to this sudden decision they did now all my plug ins say error when i load up FL studio , im so frustrated i dont even know how to fix it at this point

Subscriptions are ok for services. Netflix, Spotify - they sell you services. They stream you content that you enjoy. They don't sell you tools.
But Waves don't sell you services. They don't send you a guy who will mix/master your music for you to enjoy. That would be a service.
But they don't do it. They sell you plugins. You don't "enjoy" plugins - you use them to mix/master your tracks. Plugins are not services. They are tools. And people don't subscribe to use tools. They buy tools to use whenever they need it.

Exactly, subs in these cases suck!! And the same happened with Adobe and recently Final Cut and Logic (for iPad) They didn't care for us, the loyal clients that spend thousands of dlls in the past to use their products, now we are new clients that have to suscribe to use Photoshop, illustrator, after FX, Logic Pro, Final Cut and waves... come on!!

Yeah not all waves plugins we use they not that cool but they do have plugin i can't find Replacment it's Infected Mushroom Pusher
UAD is the same, my UAD Satellite was downgraded as tech garbage since they didn’t and won’t update for newer Mac OS. My only option is to get stuck with Catalina or throw it in the garbage.
Same with my old Motu Ultralite, the interface is well cared, look and works like new, but it didn’t update after Mohave.
My Access Virus almost the same, but it has workarounds.
All my gear turned to garbage before hitting their lifetime spam.

Wtf??? 1 Waves pluggin costed $300 back then??? How is the fudge?? I've always seen them for 35 bucks.. I mean the mercury bundle has ALWAYS been $1600 as far back as I can remember.. why would anyone buy a simple eq plugin for $300 bucks???
that why people many hate waves so much.. it so expensive.. but it came with satisfaction and precise.. that why some people dare to buy their software.. and not forget if they want use real thing like analog compressor has good reputation like urei 76.. its cost above 5000 for one module... so waves saw that they can make good software version.. that why they charge so high... that my opinion and what i understand
NI, Valhalla, so many others.... I LOVE NI compressors(softube). I 'own' waves version but never use em. Kazrog makes some goodies too. No monthly scripts for me. No contract on my television, my phone, my plugins... nada! Im not a fan of any plugins that require internet access on a regular basis.
Really curious to see if Avid will change something after seeing what happened to Waves.. but I doubt it

Well that’s a different story 😂 personally, I like owning plugins, not only you save the headache of having to deal with cracks, all the issues etc. But also because we’re trying to make music that eventually is gonna get sold to people. It’s the same concept, I like thinking that at least someone will buy my music instead of downloading it from UA-cam. I’m the same with plugins 😁 plus, I think the more you treat music like a hobby the more it’s gonna stay a hobby. Paying for plugins/hardware etc is def treating music like your full job instead!
