Mazda has come a long way since breaking away from Ford. Had a 2001 MPV minivan that I maintained but still showed mechanical issues at 70k miles. Dumped it. Bought a CX-5 recently after seeing my best friend happy with hers and no issues at nearly 100k miles. Also test drove CX-50, but liked the higher ground clearance of the CX-5 better. Personal preference. Price points of both models are close, depending on trim.
The cx5 looks so... Basic. Just blends in with everything on the road. The design language for the cx50 is fantastic. Also love the stance and center of gravity being lower on the 50.
The CX-5 outsells the CX-50 135,000 to 45,000 in 2023 in the USA. It is why there is going to be another CX-5 in 2025 - the car is about half of Mazda's sales so it will be redesigned.
cx-5 got a facelift at 2024 and it wouldn`t be redesigned in the nearest few years, it`s very popular model and there is nothing major to change, mazda knows that if something works well let it works.

It’s not because it is a better car but because it is cheaper and has subsidies unlike cx50 plus. Personally I also don’t like a car that everyone has.

A basic car is much better than all the computers and electronics that a car comes with an the distractions the dash comes with the info entertainment. I always see people driving with their phones on their hands, which is a hazard that has cause accidents because they are not paying attention to the road.
It is when stopped. Apple car play works. There’s a setting where you can actually enable the touch screen. Idk why people complain about the most little things. It’s simply called a safety hazard
So many complain about the infotainment system set up. But it’s safer than an all-tablet touch control screen diverting driver’s attention away from the road, even for a split second or two. Took me a day or two to master the dial and only use the touchscreen minimally.
@@mindfullymellow2323 correct, in the other hand, I had those touchscreen infotainment in other cars and they don’t allow to change the gps address during driving, amongst others functions, like you say those touchscreen are distracting because sometimes the drivers touch the wrong function and then has to go back and so on. In my personal experience I prefer don’t touch the screen because I don’t like the scratches and finger marks on the screen.

Lakers houses and big cars and houses. You already know. I was raised by grandma and parents who told me to save every dime, and they told me when I get raises don’t rush to upgrade everything. They told me to save the raises and live on the base income that I already earned. I’m a saver by nature: savings makes me feel amazing! I’m debt free as of last week! I am proud of that and I have a very substantial savings and my tech stocks are skyrocketing. I know things can change tomorrow and I don’t want to be a slave to debt if I got sick or hurt. I’ve seen it in my 30 years of life and people lose their homes and cars. It’s happening to Tesla engineers that are sleeping in their Tesla after getting fired suddenly and recently. Sorry for the long story. But I’m happy to hear you think like you do. I hope to find a woman who believes in saving more than spending so we can get our children and family members in our older years.

Do you mean seat height? Cx-50 has more ground clearance as compared to the cx-5

Mazda actually uses a super-charged 5 cylinder, not a turbo charged.
