Well, if the battle of Nemesis didn't exist, we could have perfectly added a map where Dimitri asks for help to the Kingdom to kill Cornelia. But...still, I remember Dimitri mentioning subtly that if it wasn't for Byleth, he would have died in vain for revenge...and that's how it went in GD.

In the blue lion route, Dimitri still doesn't listen to Byleth and is still in his "Kill every last one of them" mode at this point of the story and the only thing that prevents him to die is Dedue telling him that he should retreat, not Byleth. Dedue is by his side in the golden deer route so there is no reason at all that he would suddenly die in this route where every condition for his survival is there. HUGE SPOILER FOR BLUE LION ROUTE BELOW : Also, what really allowed him to change was Felix's father sacrificing himself for him so Byleth really doesn't make a huge difference. END OF SPOILER So I really think it's bad writing.

sj4iy In that case, wouldn’t it also not be that big of a deal to wait for Claude for a little bit? He has king stuff he needs to do. Fix Almyra, kill racism, etc. Also, while the game itself practically ships Byleth and Dimitri, that doesn’t mean that it needs to ship Byleth and Claude. That’s why you can S-Support practically anyone in the game. This game encourages you to bang your favorite character after four meaningful and adorable conversations! And that character isn’t always a Lord. Sometimes it’s a tsundere, a girl with crippling depression, Harry Potter with lime-colored hair, or Bernie!
@@n0dash18 It's more a cumulative effect of how Claude actually treats you all the way through the game. He's very manipulative and even wants you to hand over your father's diary immediately after death. He even says in Blue Lions that he doesn't do anything unless it benefits himself...which is true. It's easy to think that he's the most personable of the three but the truth is that his antics (and his absolute refusal to just tell your character about HIS secrets which are completely obvious) really does wear on you as the game goes on. When it culminates in "hey I'm leaving you to run the country so I can become king of Almyra but hey...wait for me, 'kay?" it left a bad taste in my mouth.
That situation with Leonie is 200% accurate. Why on Earth didn't her B support involve Byleth and Leonie coming together to comfort each other and remember Jeralt together? Who the hell thought her B support unlocking after your father's death was a smart design choice? She's a great unit but is easily the character I'd change the most in terms of dialogue in game.

@@DragoonIceX Making her my early game Pegasus knight was one of the best decisions on my current Golden Deer playthrough. She's a monster with like 40 strength and speed at level 38. But damn, her personality doesn't fit well with the rest of the house. She almost needs a complete character rewrite. Which is a shame because her paralogue with Linhardt (about the struggle for commoners in the alliance) is actually really great development wise and it's a side of her that I did like. Why couldn't they just focus on that aspect instead since it brings up problems that are legitimate with the nobility taking advantage of the common people.
When I started my first playthrough with GD, I planned to go for her S Rank. Around the time of the B support, I decided that, actually, she's really Felix's type.

Claude just wants you to enjoy your year time. I couldn't believe how different things were in the other routes, I kept on laughing on my first route, things got sad and/or serious on the other ones.

You know I really feel like that whole lore dump could’ve been lightened somewhat if they’d put some of it in the Black Eagles route? It would make sense given the direction of the route and the fact Edelgard literally works with TWSITD and confronts Rhea? Also the BE is the shortest route by a few chapters meaning adding some extra ones to do this would have resolved that issue and made the overall route have a more satisfying conclusion?

I'm in Chapter 21 of Blue Lions. Nothing still. There wasn't even Jabelins of Light when I invaded Fort Merceus. Everything that is lore in this route seems to be only related to the Tragedy of Duscur.

However, I'll rather see that as an intent for him to not angry them. We knew what the Empire did to House Ordelia after they helped another house in a conflict with the Empire and the others in the Alliance did nothing to help them when the Agarthans did their thing. Sir Gloucester must have felt this will turn out like that.
They hype it up as the final battle and then, surprise! There's still three chapters left that are almost completely unrelated to the plot up to this point.
And you know what? The game doesn't even give you a choice. Sometimes Byleth legit doesn't seem to appreciate Jeralt. When asked if Jeralt is their father, the responses are: "I don't know." and "That's what I'm told." wtf those aren't even choices. "I respect him, of course." Sounds kinda robotic. But I guess actually giving the player options would be too much work, Leonie would have to have 2 different sets of support conversations if that was the case.
Same with Seteth's support. I suppose Byleth was supposed to be kind of amnesiac or he doesn't hold any memories. He could also have no feelings for Jeralt before the monastery and the word father is meaningless on his stone heart.
Kelly Johana Kinda weird though since the prologue implies Byleth at least has some ounce of trust in him as a fatherly figure (such as explaining his problems.) Just that he was very to himself most of the time in the mercenaries and never clicked with them for whatever reason (probably because most of them may have been older, versus the monastery where your work is trying to educate others primarily, with the selection being people younger or around your age. Much better company for a growing young mind than a group of mostly adults drinking booze sharing tales and picking up wenches.)
Oh many Leonie makes me sooooo mad she probably one of my least favorite characters. I mean I still love her bunches but I can’t stand her too. For her, meeting and training with Jeralt was the single most important time in her life but for Byleth and Jeralt, it was Tuesday. The sad part is she doesn’t get that.
I honestly feel like you should have been able to view Leonie's B support before Jeralt died. You'd have to have minor dialogue changes, but considering what she says in that support, the timing of it unlocking is just not good. I feel like it could have maybe worked if they played up that she was saying this out of grief. It would still be a terrible thing to say, but at least it wouldn't feel as though she was saying it so matter-of-factly.
I know, right. It bothered me that only the Golden Deer route felt like the true ending of the game, while Blue Lion and Black Eagle's endings felt kind of lacking. I mean, Claude is cool, but Dimitri and Edelgard deserved better :/

I can understand that not everything can be explained in every route but some key elements should be. For example in BL Route you know basically nothing about Byleth but his character should be explained in every route He is the main Protagonist
Did anyone else set all their units up around nemesis and was preparing to have an epic battle with all their students attacking but ended up one shot crit with blyth(also yes I know I'm a year late to the game I just got it went lysynthia btw)
This is easily my favorite route in the whole game (at least compared to the Black Eagles); the cast was the most unique (and colorful) with some amazing supports (even Leonie, when she isn't talking to you), and Claude is the MC to which I will compare to future characters in the FE series. Nintendo didn't do the Golden 🦌 justice with how they pushed Edelgard so much; Claude is the true hero of Three Houses!
My only peeve with GD route is that it felt like the rest of the world had just kind of brushed off the Alliance/Deers. Empire considered the Kingdom their rival, didn't even really bother with the Alliance. Dimitri's forces tried attacking us **while** we were trying to take down the empire, and only Dedue had a shred of sanity left. Rhea hangs on to her secrets until the very, very last moment, despite the fact we saved her. Nemesis seemed to show up out of nowhere, tries to end the church, gets the same treatment the Empire did. It really felt like so much pain could have been avoided if everyone had bothered to talk to us. Claude was totally on board with both bringing down the church AND the ones who Slither in the Dark - Empire+Deer might have made a great team, had Edie just talked to them.

I love playing the golden deer route still my favorite currently still on blue lion but man this game legit made me said I f**k up when the 5 years later part started because I killed almost all the students that I didn't recruit except Dorothea she join my class by herself

My first playthrough was GD. And I am really hoping the other two have better endings, let me tell you. The end of this video got it right. Such dramatic buildup as there is is all about the fight against the empire, then the last two missions do a double Necron Syndrome introducing new true enemies. And Claude isn't actually hiding anything of interest. Doing a BL playthrough now, and so far it's a lot more promising. They got a lot more involvement with the empire than just being in the way.
it honestly feels wasteful. edelgard and Claude had similar goals, and Claude was too inquisitive to let rhea hide her secrets. more could have been done with that. But hey, at least gd had some of the best characters (except for Leonie and Lorenz)
@@kosmic100 With you on the campaign, although I'd replace Leoni with Hilda. I dumped Hilda and Lorentz together, cause I felt they deserved each other, and Lorentz's shtick of offering assistance to show his nobility and demanding respect matched perfectly with Hilda trying to pass off all work by doing a teehee-thank-you. But Leoni, while it could have been timed and written better, brings something to the supports that is sorely lacking: Not gushing over how awesome Byleth is.
Don’t get me wrong I love LOVE GD but damn finding out Rhea was Seiros the whole time in a last min lore dump before the final battle was.....an interesting choice. Thank fuck for Claude though, love me some Claude.
Locking Leonie's B support behind Jeralt's death felt like a really poor decision considering the fact that she just yells at you more instead of coming together and mourning his loss. I imagine Byleth was like: B*tch my father just died. You really gonna start this sh*t now?

I'm in Chapter 21 of Blue Lions. Nothing still. There wasn't even Jabelins of Light when I invaded Fort Merceus. Everything that is lore in this route seems to be only related to the Tragedy of Duscur.
Only Silver Snow/Church, and even then you don’t fight Nemesis that route for some reason.

A lot of the golden deers problems stem from lorenz's family (Raphael, ignatz and Leonie)

However, I'll rather see that as an intent for him to not angry them. We knew what the Empire did to House Ordelia after they helped another house in a conflict with the Empire and the others in the Alliance did nothing to help them when the Agarthans did their thing. Sir Gloucester must have felt this will turn out like that.

The game doesn't even give you a choice. Sometimes Byleth legit doesn't seem to appreciate Jeralt. When asked if Jeralt is their father, the responses are:
"I don't know."
and
"That's what I'm told."
wtf those aren't even choices.
"I respect him, of course."
Sounds kinda robotic.
But I guess actually giving the player options would be too much work, Leonie would have to have 2 different sets of support conversations if that was the case.
Same with Seteth's support. I suppose Byleth was supposed to be kind of amnesiac or he doesn't hold any memories. He could also have no feelings for Jeralt before the monastery and the word father is meaningless on his stone heart.
Kelly Johana Kinda weird though since the prologue implies Byleth at least has some ounce of trust in him as a fatherly figure (such as explaining his problems.) Just that he was very to himself most of the time in the mercenaries and never clicked with them for whatever reason (probably because most of them may have been older, versus the monastery where your work is trying to educate others primarily, with the selection being people younger or around your age. Much better company for a growing young mind than a group of mostly adults drinking booze sharing tales and picking up wenches.)

Oh many Leonie makes me sooooo mad she probably one of my least favorite characters. I mean I still love her bunches but I can’t stand her too. For her, meeting and training with Jeralt was the single most important time in her life but for Byleth and Jeralt, it was Tuesday. The sad part is she doesn’t get that.

I honestly feel like you should have been able to view Leonie's B support before Jeralt died. You'd have to have minor dialogue changes, but considering what she says in that support, the timing of it unlocking is just not good. I feel like it could have maybe worked if they played up that she was saying this out of grief. It would still be a terrible thing to say, but at least it wouldn't feel as though she was saying it so matter-of-factly.
This is so accurate! I felt like everything after you fight the other two houses felt so tacked on at the last minute 😅.
The final part should have been an Earrape version of God-Shattering Star with Nemesis' face just spinning.

I know, right. It bothered me that only the Golden Deer route felt like the true ending of the game, while Blue Lion and Black Eagle's endings felt kind of lacking. I mean, Claude is cool, but Dimitri and Edelgard deserved better :/
I thought Blue Lions felt most like a real ending tbh. I felt both Blyeth and Dimitri are the main characters of the whole game tbh.

I can understand that not everything can be explained in every route but some key elements should be. For example in BL Route you know basically nothing about Byleth but his character should be explained in every route He is the main Protagonist

This is easily my favorite route in the whole game (at least compared to the Black Eagles); the cast was the most unique (and colorful) with some amazing supports (even Leonie, when she isn't talking to you), and Claude is the MC to which I will compare to future characters in the FE series. Nintendo didn't do the Golden 🦌 justice with how they pushed Edelgard so much; Claude is the true hero of Three Houses!
My only peeve with GD route is that it felt like the rest of the world had just kind of brushed off the Alliance/Deers.
Empire considered the Kingdom their rival, didn't even really bother with the Alliance. Dimitri's forces tried attacking us **while** we were trying to take down the empire, and only Dedue had a shred of sanity left. Rhea hangs on to her secrets until the very, very last moment, despite the fact we saved her. Nemesis seemed to show up out of nowhere, tries to end the church, gets the same treatment the Empire did.
It really felt like so much pain could have been avoided if everyone had bothered to talk to us. Claude was totally on board with both bringing down the church AND the ones who Slither in the Dark - Empire+Deer might have made a great team, had Edie just talked to them.
@@BlueShellshock You're right: A LOT of problems could have been avoided if people (namely Edelgard and Claude, since their beliefs are so deeply aligned) actually talked; maybe the war with the ⛪ wouldn't have happened.

I love playing the golden deer route still my favorite currently still on blue lion but man this game legit made me said I f**k up when the 5 years later part started because I killed almost all the students that I didn't recruit except Dorothea she join my class by herself

My first playthrough was GD. And I am really hoping the other two have better endings, let me tell you. The end of this video got it right. Such dramatic buildup as there is is all about the fight against the empire, then the last two missions do a double Necron Syndrome introducing new true enemies. And Claude isn't actually hiding anything of interest.
Doing a BL playthrough now, and so far it's a lot more promising. They got a lot more involvement with the empire than just being in the way.
it honestly feels wasteful. edelgard and Claude had similar goals, and Claude was too inquisitive to let rhea hide her secrets. more could have been done with that. But hey, at least gd had some of the best characters (except for Leonie and Lorenz)
@@kosmic100 With you on the campaign, although I'd replace Leoni with Hilda. I dumped Hilda and Lorentz together, cause I felt they deserved each other, and Lorentz's shtick of offering assistance to show his nobility and demanding respect matched perfectly with Hilda trying to pass off all work by doing a teehee-thank-you.
But Leoni, while it could have been timed and written better, brings something to the supports that is sorely lacking: Not gushing over how awesome Byleth is.
Don’t get me wrong I love LOVE GD but damn finding out Rhea was Seiros the whole time in a last min lore dump before the final battle was.....an interesting choice. Thank fuck for Claude though, love me some Claude.
Locking Leonie's B support behind Jeralt's death felt like a really poor decision considering the fact that she just yells at you more instead of coming together and mourning his loss.
