I am 24 yrs old right now. I realised I had spent 10k on Zomato and 10k on Swiggy in 1.5-2 yrs. But i thought even that can be reduced. I have started cutting on food apps spending.
What opened my eyes actually:
A plate of Pav bhaji at a shop near my house(within 1 km dist) costs ₹100. The total cost when ordering on zomato: ₹215. WTF!!!!

This is so inspiring and such a great podcast. I am a mother. And want to be mother again. But dont want to do it physically. Want to adopt a kid now. This podcast just gave me strength to talk to my family and husband regarding this.
Adoption is very complex in India, there are hardly any children available to adopt (< 3 years and healthy) and there are thousands of parents waiting for their turn. We applied for adoption through CARA 3 years back and the wait time is still one and a half years more

Always think that in the long run , chilled is not a consumer product he or she grows as an independent human with natural curiosity for their biological parent.
Problem in India is everyone are experts and judge as they know everything than anyone! Its a bizarre. Radhika Gupta u have faced the toughest things in your journey. Kudos for upscaling yourself in the short-term and leading a great life.
Agree with Shantanu. At the lower end of society the wages have not moved. For eg a security guard gets about 12k and it has not moved in the last 5 years. This is because the supply of Labor at the lower end outweighs demand and the scope for wages moving up is very limited. This will be a serious problem as the situation is going to get worse
In Hyderabad an average security guy makes about 20k in a decent society . Actually labor wages have increased but not the middle class kids.
The best part is that the lower end of the society will again vote to keep the upper end in power. Vicious cycle.
The sample itself is biased. For one tcs/ infosys that flourishes, ten companies go under and some CEOs do not even draw a salary, so those CEOs are not included. Second, the salary of a CEO is based on the performance of the company, i.e. it is loosely proportional to the market cap/ profits of the company. So it would go up when markets(which are performing quite well in india) are performing well. On the other hand employees usually do not have any stake in the company and so their salary would not go up as much
Also, Infosys in 2000 had a head count of5000, today it is 3lacs

She is now part of the top 1% and needs to consolidate her position. Yes, she can empathize with the 99%.The real fruits of growing India is eaten by the 1% and the rest have to survive on the crumbs and under back-breaking inflation.

2. There are issues in the system which come in way of people rising to top. Things like Nepotism, classism, casteism, religious discrimination

This is so true. Iam myself guilty of spending about 50k this year on zom/Swiggy and other food deliveries ..
Sirf saving se nahi hoga. Tax also needs to go down (significantly). Just repeating Swiggy-Zomato-Hotstar again and again creates the wrong narrative (unnecessary evil portrayal).
India has middle class bcoz India is one of the very few countries (maybe the only country) which has valued liberty, equality, honesty, hard work, merit alongwith social justice and capital creation. Remember, there is no middle class without fundamental freedoms and values.

People are willing to give you maternity leave without asking coz you are at that position I personally had to go through enough trouble to extend AMAT for my junior and chains of emails to HR to get her extra MAT time. It was not just a hassle for her but me as her supervisor too 😅
