I get so excited when I watch Columbo, you would think that I was anxiously awaiting the season premiere. Peter Falk was such a gifted actor, his work is timeless.
I came across Colombo this year and absolutely fell in love with the character. .and it is absolutely clear how in love he was with his family. Thank you Catherine

When I was a kid, I was born in 1963, my dad I and use to watch Columbo and talk about the show. My dad died in 1974 so I have a strong memory of my dad and me watching Columbo. I continued to watch the show after my dad passed away. I love the show I have them all on DVD. Your dad was a great actor also loved him in Murder by Death and many other movies. I hope he enjoyed his life, wife, family, kids and so on he certainly deserved too he made a lot of people happy.

My 10 Yr. old daughter and I spend every Sunday night watching Columbo. She loves the classic shows and I can't think of anything more classic than your dad's iconic character. He left behind a great body of work. I hope to introduce her to his whole filmography.

Catherine Falk: my uncle ( another fan) told me a super little story about how your Dad alledgedly got the Columbo role. Is it true that he turned up at an audition in his crumpled mac, looking a little dishevelled ( can't recall quite 'why' though all these years later) and somebody saw him and thought what a great character he would make for a cop show? Is that true?
I have a disabled grandson who has no concentration for tv but loves the voice of columbo so we have an episode on every time he eats .he just hears Mr falks voice a calms down

Beautiful Tribute for one of the greatest actors I've ever had the honor watching. My late father was the one who got me into Columbo when I was a child, hooked ever since. But I'm sure you hear this all the time. He was a great man from what I can tell, my heart is with you and your family. Rest well Peter Falk.
Wow. I love this. I was just a kid back in the '70s but my Dad used to watch Columbo all the time. Now that I'm 52, I get to watch it 3 times each weekend. My favorite tv show. Also, my best buddy lives just across the street from me and it's his favorite as well. Every week we talk about the shows that aired over the weekend. I know as fans we know nothing about the actors but you could always see something about Peter Falk that I think revealed something about him. During interviews as well as on the show, he would always reach out and touch whoever he was speaking to. He would put his hand on their arm or whatever. I like that about him. I think it's a reflection of the fact that he seemed to genuinely care. This man was a gift to all of us. So talented. He brought joy to a lot of people, myself included.
I loved and still love Columbo. There is never a time when I can't sit down and enjoy an episode. Loved the movies too but can't seem to find those anymore. But his series are more than enough to get my fix. When he passed I was greatly saddened. Nine years already :(. Wished I'd been blessed with such a lovely dad.

He may not have been the character he played in the movie "The In-Laws" but it came from him and that means he was one of the most endearing people I have known. Colombo was just as endearing. I was never able to meet the man but I still loved him. Strange and wonderful how that kind of media can make us feel. He is missed, Pete falk is indeed missed.

I adore him. The warmth and humanity shone out of him and his Columbo character was a masterpiece. He set a new standard for all those cop shows of the 70's and was a gift to every impressionist ( impersonator) in the country.It's a fact that many women found Columbo actually rather sexy. Here in Britain on breakfast TV some years ago, the subject under discussion was which of those 70's cops was the sexiest and the lady co -presenter, Judy Finnigan, confessed that for her it was Columbo!

My wife and I bought the whole series and watch it when we want to relax. We loved growing up in the 70s and Columbo was part of that time. It is my favorite series from that time. Thanks for posting this, we will miss him.
Catherine, we sure loved watching your dad's brilliant show. It was THE most exciting show to watch growing up (I was a teen) in our teeny Downey home, mom & dad on couch, us kids lying all over the floor. One episode I remember distinctly was about Palm Springs. My parents had just taken us 5 younger kids to San Jacinto to ride the tram up to the top of San Jacinto in January of 1971, FUN!!! To our amazement, the next episode your dad did was with Roddy McDowell trying to throw your dad off the tram as it was going either up or down the mountain! BOY, did WE feel special, as if we had JUST missed the filming (LOL) and your dad and Roddy had ridden OUR tram! One of our fav movies is THE GREAT RACE, and to THIS day, whenever I call my son at his Coast Guard base, I will mutter in a raspy voice as you dad did to Jack Lemmon: "Hey Professor! It's 7:tirty! My Dad passed away when he was 45, thank you for sharing this, even if i had never met him and didn´t know him beside as in his most popular role as Lt. I was always fascinated with the juxtaposition between his Columbo and real-life self on talk shows. He was a wonderful human being - one of the few Hollywood folks that I would have loved to of met.

He may not have been the character he played in the movie "The In-Laws" but it came from him and that means he was one of the most endearing people I have known. Colombo was just as endearing. I was never able to meet the man but I still loved him. Strange and wonderful how that kind of media can make us feel. He is missed, Pete falk is indeed missed.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful memories through your photographs. Peter Falk is a legend, not least for personifying perfectly the character of Lt Columbo. I wrote to him from England when I was 12 years old (I'm now 40) and he sent back a lovely signed photo, personalised with my name. I've always thought what a wonderful gesture that was.

I adore him. The warmth and humanity shone out of him and his Columbo character was a masterpiece. He set a new standard for all those cop shows of the 70's and was a gift to every impressionist ( impersonator) in the country.It's a fact that many women found Columbo actually rather sexy. Here in Britain on breakfast TV some years ago, the subject under discussion was which of those 70's cops was the sexiest and the lady co -presenter, Judy Finnigan, confessed that for her it was Columbo!

My dad and I watch reruns of Columbo every friday here in Sweden. I'm 27 and he's almost 60.
He will be missed!!!! He did a brilliant job playing Columbo the character. He showed the detective to be a thinker, a genius!!!! My inspiration to keep learning and graduate from college!!!!

I watch, re-watch the Columbo series all the time! Peter Falk's acting is a delight to watch. His characterisation of the detective superb in every way. A complete and total joy. The man was a genius!
I loved the show in the 70s. It was very popular here in the UK. Still watch the re runs on Sky. Ps.. I waited 45 years to see Columbo's wife.

Thank you Mrs. Catherine for sharing. I have always thought Mr. Falk was a handsome man and a very good actor. On Columbo, I always enjoyed watching him get on the bad guy's nerves and then catching them red-handed in the end. Very entertaining.
I watch Columbo every morning at ,8:00 until 10:00 Monday through Friday and on Sunday night from 8:00 until 10:00. lol I am definitely a Columbo fan. I just adore him.TY so much for sharing

My wife and I bought the whole series and watch it when we want to relax. We loved growing up in the 70s and Columbo was part of that time. It is my favorite series from that time. Thanks for posting this, we will miss him.
Catherine, we sure loved watching your dad's brilliant show. It was THE most exciting show to watch growing up (I was a teen) in our teeny Downey home, mom & dad on couch, us kids lying all over the floor. One episode I remember distinctly was about Palm Springs. My parents had just taken us 5 younger kids to San Jacinto to ride the tram up to the top of San Jacinto in January of 1971, FUN!!! To our amazement, the next episode your dad did was with Roddy McDowell trying to throw your dad off the tram as it was going either up or down the mountain! BOY, did WE feel special, as if we had JUST missed the filming (LOL) and your dad and Roddy had ridden OUR tram! One of our fav movies is THE GREAT RACE, and to THIS day, whenever I call my son at his Coast Guard base, I will mutter in a raspy voice as you dad did to Jack Lemmon: "Hey Professor! It's 7:tirty! Rise and shine!"

Mr. Peter Falk was a treasure , and my family enjoyed him as Lt. Columbo . He was and still is one of our favorite TV detectives . Your father was an excellent comedic as well as dramatic actor . Thank you for sharing your father with us and may he Rest In Peace .

My Dad passed away when he was 45, thank you for sharing this, even if i had never met him and didn´t know him beside as in his most popular role as Lt. Columbo, he brought a lot of joy to our house by his acting! My Sympathies and i will also not forget your Daddy, he will live on in many Memories of so many people! Kind Regards from Austria

I was always fascinated with the juxtaposition between his Columbo and real-life self on talk shows. He was a wonderful human being - one of the few Hollywood folks that I would have loved to of met.
