Krika not even on the list? He was by far one of the most tragic and unfortunute characters in Bionicle. He wanted so hard to be good, but him being Makuta never allowed it. He even warned the Toa to get out of Karda Nui before the explosion and died himself in the process! Dying just because you were "born" as someone is probably the most tragic thing, not just in Bionicle, but in our world aswell.
I agree with you and there's more of what happened to him... gorast used her mask of destruction to make krika's intentions go wild making him fade from existence and I agree it was pretty tragic I feel bad for krika and tbh I love krika he is just like sahmad which is also my favorite, both krika and sahmad are sympathetic and not always evil, krika is an antagonist and sahmad is an enslaver, but both did the right thing they could, krika asked nicely to the toa to leave the core and gave them mercy and sahmad confronted to Annona and found a golden skinned being and teamed up with him to defeat Annona and luckily sahmad defeated Annona thanks to the golden skinned being and that's I got to say about it so I hope you enjoy my comparison I will be out there being a cool friend, later!

That's a really good insight. Remember, at the time in 2004 the Star Wars prequels were out and this was both a competition and inspiration for Bionicle. Both even operated under Lego! So I'm sure that is not a coincidence.
I always felt Lhikan and Nidhiki similar to Obi-wan and Anakin. Two brothers, who don't agree in everything, but together, they are the best and they known it deep inside. They are good friends, but in the end, they end up enemies. Also... these two brothers begin and end this list. My favourites forever :')
My suggestion for the next video would be "Top 10 Mysterious Characters." This one would give us a look at characters whose backstories were fascinating, but ultimately did not get the screen time you felt they deserved.
Lhikan was my favorite due to his fine control over his powers, his foresight, his self-discipline, and his role as the one who would help to turn Vakama from an unsure Toa of Fire into the bold and courageous leader we all know and love. That, and being a sky-surfing, sword-wielding bad ass doesn't hurt either.
@@dusk6159, too perfect. I actually thought about how trying to live up to the ideals of what a Toa is is what probably got so many of them killed. Hell, Lhikan wasn't even able to live up to those ideals, having threatened to kill Nidhiki at the end of the Toa-Dark Hunter War. The Inika had known Toa as flawed individuals and were fairly disillusioned, hence one of many reasons why they were able to keep up with trained, veteran Toa killers like the Piraka. The Inika also played dirty as well and had fewer compunctions about using excessive force.
to be fair though mata nui's story isn't really tragic so much as misguided, i mean teridax kinda had a point. mata nui DID mistreat everyone and the makuta got sidelined while still having to pull most of the weight while the toa got all the credit
Lesovikk is probably my favourite character of the whole series. He was the Toa who failed, with no choice but to live with the consequences of his mistakes for centuries as he roamed the land in bitter solitude. I think he's one of the most human characters in Bionicle, and I wish we could have seen him develop further and play a more important role in the story.
I agree, ten years removed from the end of Bionicle and looking back suddenly. I just finished watching "Bionicle Ignition 2", the fan movie about Bionicle 2007 (amazing, by the way), and really got drawn in by the Lesovikk story (especially since in the Suggestions tab was this video, with Lesovikk as the thumbnail, making me try to remember). Maybe if Farshtey revives the story serials (it's been 10 years, maybe a good time!) we can see what happened to him. Remember, this video forgot to mention that Lesovikk and the two matoran were transformed into water-breathers and could not escape the Pit. Lesovikk gave a breathing device to the blue matoran so she could escape, then set off with Sarda as his undersea sidekick to literally wander the ocean 'forever'. This is the same ocean planet that formed Spherus Magna, so unless those two poor souls were UNDERNEATH the planet upon impact, they are still wandering the ocean on Spherus Magna. From what I recall, looking at bits of Farshtey's serials, the Toa Mahri got led off somewhere by some golden Piraka being and were hypnotized, and it took them off into the middle of nowhere NEAR THE OCEAN... hint hint, Farshtey! I think that would make for a great story, since Lesovikk and the Mahri operated alongside each other, unbeknownst to one another, in the Pit. The Mahri would see Lesovikk and Sarda in the waves and recall that Lesovikk looked just like a Toa Mahri. Maybe they'd even think it was Matoro or something, and then find out who Lesovikk is, and Lesovikk and Sarda could be transformed back into air-breathers. Lesovikk could replace Matoro as the sixth Toa Mahri, which would give him new life and serve a great healing purpose; he has a team again and can turn over a new leaf on Spherus Magna, just like everyone else from the Matoran Universe.
An honorable mention that deserves mentioning is Toa Varian from the “No One Gets Left Behind” story. A young hero who was kidnapped and forced to make a sadistic choice, then forced to endure a fate worse than death.
I always felt Karzahni was overlooked as being tragic. He wasn't always monstrously insane, he lost his mind because for whatever reason he just wasn't good at fixing Matoran, which was the one task he was created for. Tren Krom, too, he was sealed in a cavern for eternity for the crime of no longer being useful.
I thought lesovikk would be higher on this list. His team died because of him in his mind. And all his friends were sent to karzahni where they would be tortured and mutalated. And his turaga that was like a father to him had gone insane... If that’s not tragic I don’t know what is.
Honestly, most products meant for a younger audience should have death than means something (While not necessarily for a younger audience, that is one thing that bugs me about the MCU.). It shows that there are real stakes and can create emotional situations. Never thought Lhikhan would be at the top spot, but you made a good case. Also, if these videos are getting harder to write, maybe have other people look over them. For the past several months, I've been having my sister and one of my friends/voice actors look over my scripts for mistakes and improvements. There must be some people you know who would be willing.
Come to think of it, I myself IRL am a lot like Miserix, and what I have been through is nearly Identical to what happened with him. Having his most trusted lieutenant betray him and Mata Nui, it's kind of how a friend of mine betrayed me. Only he just betrayed me, and not also some higher power. In fact, I feel a lot of the characters listed here are relatable to myself in a lot of ways. Though maybe not entirely intentional on LEGO's part necessarily, it's still great to see, and really does truly stand to show the testament of just how great BIONICLE truly was. Not to sound egotistical mind you, I'm just saying that it is all very relatable.
Nah. I reckon vahkama should've been on here. He was belittled as a matoran, questioned his place as a toa/toa leader, betrayed by his tricked into working for Makuta in the form of dume, then questioned by his team as a leader causing him to further doubt himself as a leader, causing him to betray them, before finally coming good after matou apologized for being too harsh. So he's had a rough journey before he became taraga himself

I guess you could say Mimic was tragic, because his house was destroyed and basically forced to become a Dark Hunter. Not to mention his loved one was held prisoner on Odina (i think).
Fun fact: After Botar's death, Helryx feared that Icarax had managed to penetrate Botar's mentally shielded mind and learn everything about the Order of Mata Nui. However there is no evidence that's true or not
Lesovikk definitely should have been number one, Matoro two, Lhikan three. You forgot to mention the part about how though Lesovikk DID atone for his mistakes and was reunited with his friends, he had been transformed by the Pit into a water-breather, and so never could escape the ocean. He found a device so that only one of the matoran could return to Mahri Nui, and then he and Sarda traveled off into the ocean FOREVER... at least Lesovikk had a friend though, and maybe we can hope that once Aqua Magna crashed into Bara Magna and the ocean was restored, Lesovikk and Sarda may have been able to return to dry land, maybe with a little help from Mata Nui. As for Mata Nui himself, I'm not really sure why he's number two on the list or even on the list. I say this because Mata Nui in the story is somewhat comparable to God- a being with remarkable patience, wisdom, and forgiving. So much so that, when the once-mighty 'Great Spirit' crash-lands on Bara Magna and creates a new body, what does he do? Unlike most of us, who would have collapsed into a cursing rage-fit, he casually-observes his surroundings and starts playing with a BEETLE... this is clearly an enlightened being. There actually are a lot of comparisons to make between Mata Nui and Jesus Christ, and if I ever make a Bionicle blog or something I intend to examine that. Because of Mata Nui's godlike patience (I mean, the guy totally denied his own mission just to help a bunch of strangers on another planet defeat the Skrall and didn't rush them or act rushed himself) and inhuman sense of resolve even after losing everything and knowing his subjects were being enslaved, I don't consider Mata Nui tragic. A tragic figure would have fallen into a sort of defining depression on Bara Magna, and would have probably acted like the battle against the Skrall was a form of venting the rage and atoning for his mistake (like how Lesovikk traveled around for thousands of years to atone). He also opted to stay IN the Mask of Life and not come back out, which I guess could be tragic, if not downright strange, but I think that a tragic hero character would have reincarnated back to his original form and enjoyed a peaceful life of being the Patriarch of Spherus Magna.
I am always loving these lists. :)Here are my thoughts on these poor characters: 10. Nidhiki had himself only to blame for his tragedy. He lost his way and only lead to his own destruction. 9. To see all that one has worked for stolen, betrayed, and imprisoned would leave anyone with a thirst for vengeance like no other. He is the last of his kind and has stayed true to what he was meant to be. 8. This...this is just messed up. I'll stick to being a Ta-Matoran. 7. He may have died...but he died fighting. (PS~ I have his figure on my desk at all times. :) )) 6. To seek out justice after all of those years and only to be denied it in the end...that sucks. 5. After all these years...it still stings... 4. The last of her kind, hiding to stay alive, and then sent to another realm of horrors? She needs a hug and a family...and a honorary Toa title. 3. Now this guy...he REALLY needs a hug... 2. Sadly, like Nidhiki, he brought about his own downfall, but at least he made up for it in the end. 1. The greatest of Bionicle heroes and my favorite Toa of all time. He gave it all to save everyone and though he went through so many hardships, he IS what it means to be a Toa.
I think the Tahtorak deserves a mention. He was just living his life when Brutaka teleported it to Metru Nui for a bit of fun. Lost and confused, it wound up locked in the Archives before it released itself then wound up plummeting back into the bowels of Metru Nui after a short period of freedom. When the Visorak invaded, he partnered up with Krahka and was mostly responsible for holding off the Zivon before he, Zivon, and Krahka were sent into the Field of Shadows. After one thousand years of wandering in darkness, Tahtorak and Krahka were accidentally set free on Voya Nui. Krahka's first act was to abandon the Tahtorak, leaving him to fight off the Kardas Dragon. After this victory, the Tahtorak was forcibly transported AGAIN, this time to Xia where it fought with the Kanohi Dragon. It was eventually subdued by its former allies the Rahaga, now Toa Hagah again, who do not recognize him. Throughout it all, the Tahtorak wants to know how it ended up in these predicaments, but is unable to properly communicate despite being able to talk the Matoran language. To top it all off, the Tahtorak species travels in packs, so the Tahtorak has been utterly alone throughout its entire misadventure. The Tahtorak of Metru Nui has been a hapless pawn in the game of life.
Idk why does Mata-Nui realy in this high place of top. I mean - CMON he just a something like God, but his storyline is just: "I am dying, HALP"; "Teridax betrays me"; "What is friend?"; "Lmao Teridax, lets coop to reborn Bara Magna". Everybody in the comments is talking about Krika but not one mention of the Vorox and/or the Sand Tribe, whose story was extremely sad and tragic. And they weren't even in the top 10 Sympathetic Characters list either, and they were WAY more tragic then several characters on both these lists
Av-matoran as I scribbled in my take on the original story line. The stunned trio watched as the matoran transformed into Bohrok then as they vanished, turned back to the last one. He met their eyes with a serene smile, "Did you not know that we Av-matoran, if not called to walk a different path, eventually become Bohrok and serve the Great Spirit Mata Nui in another way?"
well yes there are a lot of stories other than Bionicle that could be pretty much tragic, like how optimus prime being killed by megatron but luckily defeated megatron before he died in transformers g1 the movie. how the crying child was killed by fredbear and the bullies in fnaf 4. how superman was weak against the kryptonite thanks to lex Luthor in dc super hero comics. how cuphead made a deal with the devil by gambling with the devil and lost in cuphead don't deal with the devil the game. and last but not least of how ironhide was rusted to death by sentinel prime in transformers dark of the moon. and that's all I got to say about the top ten tragic Bionicle characters!
Well, he might be okay, since he didn't suffer too much damage(he didn't lost any limbs, death by a Shadow Hand is rather unpleasant), but the Red Star is a dangerous place!
Pridak and the Barraki should’ve been on this list, he suffered years in the pit, and to add, they all got mutated into the monstrous underwater beings you see today
But they're not tragic. Not even close, and I freakin' love the Barraki. Perhaps more than most. But tragic? Tragic they are not. The only thing that I might consider tragic about them is the fact they never truly got their revenge on Makuta Teridax for defeating them so long ago.

The Vorox and/or the Sand Tribe should have been on this list instead of Botar or some other characters, their story is incredibly tragic and much more sad. I mean, there were even 2 times in the story where 2 different characters (Kabrua and Malum) felt pity for them and sympathized with them and expressed these feelings in their dialogue or thoughts so it was pretty much directly fed to us spelled out to us the audience that they were intended to be sympathetic characters we were supposed to feel sorry for like the other characters in story. And like others have said Krika should have been on the list too.
TheShadowedOne1, Toa Mata are first Toa Team, not Toa Cordak. I can tell why Toa Mata are the first Toa Team, the Matoran think that Toa Cordak are the first Toa Team because only Av-Matoran, Order of Mata Nui and Artakha know about Toa Mata.

As of June 11, 2017 - I am a man of my word. Takua looks like a Ta-Matoran, but it is because he was relocated from Karda Nui to Metru Nui and given a "paint job" during the Time Slip. However, he forgot everything that happened before being relocated, not to mention he got amnesia before MNOG.
The most tragic bionicle character was Ehlek as he was hit with something known as the "lime pieces" disease and was thus crippled forever

I feel Lesovikk is more tragic than any of the characters, he should have been number 1
the most tragic thing is to be good are trying ur best to be good and then dye, leaving ur friends and others who known u and liked u in sadness.
I guess you could say Mimic was tragic, because his house was destroyed and basically forced to become a Dark Hunter. Not to mention his loved one was held prisoner on Odina (i think).

Fun fact: After Botar's death, Helryx feared that Icarax had managed to penetrate Botar's mentally shielded mind and learn everything about the Order of Mata Nui. However there is no evidence that's true or not
Lesovikk definitely should have been number one, Matoro two, Lhikan three. You forgot to mention the part about how though Lesovikk DID atone for his mistakes and was reunited with his friends, he had been transformed by the Pit into a water-breather, and so never could escape the ocean. He found a device so that only one of the matoran could return to Mahri Nui, and then he and Sarda traveled off into the ocean FOREVER... at least Lesovikk had a friend though, and maybe we can hope that once Aqua Magna crashed into Bara Magna and the ocean was restored, Lesovikk and Sarda may have been able to return to dry land, maybe with a little help from Mata Nui.
As for Mata Nui himself, I'm not really sure why he's number two on the list or even on the list. I say this because Mata Nui in the story is somewhat comparable to God- a being with remarkable patience, wisdom, and forgiving. So much so that, when the once-mighty 'Great Spirit' crash-lands on Bara Magna and creates a new body, what does he do? Unlike most of us, who would have collapsed into a cursing rage-fit, he casually-observes his surroundings and starts playing with a BEETLE... this is clearly an enlightened being. There actually are a lot of comparisons to make between Mata Nui and Jesus Christ, and if I ever make a Bionicle blog or something I intend to examine that. Because of Mata Nui's godlike patience (I mean, the guy totally denied his own mission just to help a bunch of strangers on another planet defeat the Skrall and didn't rush them or act rushed himself) and inhuman sense of resolve even after losing everything and knowing his subjects were being enslaved, I don't consider Mata Nui tragic. A tragic figure would have fallen into a sort of defining depression on Bara Magna, and would have probably acted like the battle against the Skrall was a form of venting the rage and atoning for his mistake (like how Lesovikk traveled around for thousands of years to atone). He also opted to stay IN the Mask of Life and not come back out, which I guess could be tragic, if not downright strange, but I think that a tragic hero character would have reincarnated back to his original form and enjoyed a peaceful life of being the Patriarch of Spherus Magna.

I am always loving these lists. :)Here are my thoughts on these poor characters:
10. Nidhiki had himself only to blame for his tragedy. He lost his way and only lead to his own destruction.
9. To see all that one has worked for stolen, betrayed, and imprisoned would leave anyone with a thirst for vengeance like no other. He is the last of his kind and has stayed true to what he was meant to be.
8. This...this is just messed up. I'll stick to being a Ta-Matoran.
7. He may have died...but he died fighting. (PS~ I have his figure on my desk at all times. :) ))
6. To seek out justice after all of those years and only to be denied it in the end...that sucks.
5. After all these years...it still stings...
4. The last of her kind, hiding to stay alive, and then sent to another realm of horrors? She needs a hug and a family...and a honorary Toa title.

1. The greatest of Bionicle heroes and my favorite Toa of all time. He gave it all to save everyone and though he went through so many hardships, he IS what it means to be a Toa.
I would have added Shamad on this list, for his experience in the Dream Plague

I think the Tahtorak deserves a mention. He was just living his life when Brutaka teleported it to Metru Nui for a bit of fun. Lost and confused, it wound up locked in the Archives before it released itself then wound up plummeting back into the bowels of Metru Nui after a short period of freedom.
When the Visorak invaded, he partnered up with Krahka and was mostly responsible for holding off the Zivon before he, Zivon, and Krahka were sent into the Field of Shadows. After one thousand years of wandering in darkness, Tahtorak and Krahka were accidentally set free on Voya Nui. Krahka's first act was to abandon the Tahtorak, leaving him to fight off the Kardas Dragon.
After this victory, the Tahtorak was forcibly transported AGAIN, this time to Xia where it fought with the Kanohi Dragon. It was eventually subdued by its former allies the Rahaga, now Toa Hagah again, who do not recognize him.
Throughout it all, the Tahtorak wants to know how it ended up in these predicaments, but is unable to properly communicate despite being able to talk the Matoran language. To top it all off, the Tahtorak species travels in packs, so the Tahtorak has been utterly alone throughout its entire misadventure.
The Tahtorak of Metru Nui has been a hapless pawn in the game of life.
Idk why does Mata-Nui realy in this high place of top. I mean - CMON he just a something like God, but his storyline is just: "I am dying, HALP"; "Teridax betrays me"; "What is friend?"; "Lmao Teridax, lets coop to reborn Bara Magna".
Artakha, Icarax, Jaller, Krika, even Shadowed One the way better characters then M-N (MyPersonalOpinion)

Everybody in the comments is talking about Krika but not one mention of the Vorox and/or the Sand Tribe, whose story was extremely sad and tragic. And they weren't even in the top 10 Sympathetic Characters list either, and they were WAY more tragic then several characters on both these lists

Av-matoran as I scribbled in my take on the original story line.
The stunned trio watched as the matoran transformed into Bohrok then as they vanished, turned back to the last one. He met their eyes with a serene smile, "Did you not know that we Av-matoran, if not called to walk a different path, eventually become Bohrok and serve the Great Spirit Mata Nui in another way?"
I think it would be neat to see either the worst or at least lamest bionicle characters
Botar wasn't responsible for capturing the Barraki, he merely transported them to the the pit after Teridax's victory over the league!
He technically captured them, but Teridax was the one who defeated them.

The Mask of Life is pronounced "Ig-knee-ka". The Toa are "In-Nye-kah".

well yes there are a lot of stories other than Bionicle that could be pretty much tragic, like how optimus prime being killed by megatron but luckily defeated megatron before he died in transformers g1 the movie. how the crying child was killed by fredbear and the bullies in fnaf 4. how superman was weak against the kryptonite thanks to lex Luthor in dc super hero comics. how cuphead made a deal with the devil by gambling with the devil and lost in cuphead don't deal with the devil the game. and last but not least of how ironhide was rusted to death by sentinel prime in transformers dark of the moon. and that's all I got to say about the top ten tragic Bionicle characters!

Me too. Poor, ol' Turaga Lhikan.
Well, he might be okay, since he didn't suffer too much damage(he didn't lost any limbs, death by a Shadow Hand is rather unpleasant), but the Red Star is a dangerous place!
Pridak and the Barraki should’ve been on this list, he suffered years in the pit, and to add, they all got mutated into the monstrous underwater beings you see today
But they're not tragic. Not even close, and I freakin' love the Barraki. Perhaps more than most. But tragic? Tragic they are not. The only thing that I might consider tragic about them is the fact they never truly got their revenge on Makuta Teridax for defeating them so long ago.
TheShadowedOne1 good point, I mean I understand that they deserved their punishment, but the fact of being both imprisoned for what felt like an eternity while being transformed into mutated beings at the same time felt tragic to me...
On that, I can agree. Their mutation was a horrible experience for hardened warlords like themselves. Pridak himself was disgusted by what he became.

The Vorox and/or the Sand Tribe should have been on this list instead of Botar or some other characters, their story is incredibly tragic and much more sad. I mean, there were even 2 times in the story where 2 different characters (Kabrua and Malum) felt pity for them and sympathized with them and expressed these feelings in their dialogue or thoughts so it was pretty much directly fed to us spelled out to us the audience that they were intended to be sympathetic characters we were supposed to feel sorry for like the other characters in story. And like others have said Krika should have been on the list too.

Takua looks like a Ta-Matoran, but it is because he was relocated from Karda Nui to Metru Nui and given a "paint job" during the Time Slip. However, he forgot everything that happened before being relocated, not to mention he got amnesia before MNOG.
