      Wearing shirts under a gi is totally fine! Definitely understand hesitating to wear a rash guard for that reason, was hard to put one on for the first time for me for similar reasons, but ended up preferring it to my own surprise. Thanks for watching!

    Depends on the gym right? At some everyone has a rashguard underneath, others all barechest (save for the women).. we do the 'wear whatever you want as long as its hygienic' approach 😂

    You never explained your point only to say that other's prefer that you wear something under the Gi? and you'll be made fun of if you don't? Where did you get that? We have a mix at our gym and I have heard zero talk about wearing nothing under the Gi.

    • @jiujitsujunction
      @jiujitsujunction  Рік тому

      @@unitewithch For me personally it is two-fold. The first consideration for me is that only some training partners have been comfortable training without a rashguard or shirt on underneath the gi in my experience, and I'd rather make it the rule to wear something underneath to be broadly compatible. The second one is that it cuts down on chafing and marginally lowers the risk of skin infections.

    • @unitewithch
      @unitewithch Рік тому +2

      @@jiujitsujunction sure, I got those points from the video, which I believe is self evident. If someone was uncomfortable, I’m sure they wouldn’t continue to do that thing that makes them uncomfortable. I meant why would you or anyone else in a gym feel the need to ostracize someone for not wearing anything under their Gi? Why would you even care?

    • @jiujitsujunction

      @@unitewithch Idk personally doesn't bother me at all, but it does bother some folks.
      I've seen it happen a couple of times but it wasn't ostracization, just poking fun in an environment where expectations included wearing a shirt or rashguard under the gi.

    Sorry but you are just incorrect about going shirtless under the gi. This is quite normal to not wear one that how it was originally done and it allows you to have better cardio by allowing your chest to dissipate heat. I do agree that its better to defend against skin infections.
    Edit also if not being able to wear a rashgaurd effected your performance then your not training hard enough or lack confidence in your technique something as small as that shouldn't effect your game or cause mental anxiety.

    • @jiujitsujunction
      @jiujitsujunction  Рік тому

      I agree that it is better for heat dissipation, but for most people training day to day I think it’s a good idea to match the school norms which are far more often wear a shirt or rashguard underneath.
      Thanks for that comment, it’s something people can consider for themselves in a school that allows it!
