It has a lot of potential, but it differs too much from the core mechanics. Adding things like grab block and attack is completely fine, however flipping is different from the core game. Can't speedflip or wavedash. It just feels like a different game instead of a different gamemode.
I've played around 50of these matches and won almost 40 of them, this is by far the most fun I've had playing rocket league in years to be honest. I can't wait to play more.
Grabs are definitely a little too OP. They need to get rid of one of the stun bars because it gives you 2 and that is asking a lot from newer players. I also feel they should increase the number of spike walls and floors to make grabbing a little more risky. Other than that the game mode is great.
Ya I think there will definitely be some adjustments in the future based off of player feedback and things they see in matches. Should be fun to see how/what changes are implemented.
@@apk9754 it's also about timing, what I like to do is jump once so that way I'm already in the air and then I flip with out jumping first when I'm about to attack
Couple other things I've noticed: -If your going for someone from behind, always grab because they cannot attack backwards and thus its guaranteed to be successful as they cant defend against it -If you get spiked, you can recover if you really spam x. (Or whatever button you bound recovery to). The important thing is to flip as soon as possible because it cancels vertical movement. I'm worried that the recovery button will be prone to cheating with a rapid fire button or the scroll wheel exploit. That being said, there may be a benefit to making the jump button the same as the recovery button as then you'll immediately dodge. -Have a preference to attack instead of grab when recovering or when youre about to get hit close to the edge, because if you get grabbed in this scenario its basically a death sentence -In sudden death, pretty much any attack/grab will kill your opponent. Therefore the grab meta no longer applies and head on battles turn into rock paper scissors -Just my preference: car cam early game, "ball" cam late game
I've already run into someone with an auto hotkey cheat. he was a PC player and I couldn't spike him into the ground with a supersonic grab off the edge
Another tip for head to head battles: Bait in opponents attacks. If they go for a slow attack and you can turn quick enough you can go for a guaranteed grab from behind. Also them revealing their attacks while you hide yours can give you valuable info for mind games (ex: they never to for smash attack because they have grab bound to jump so always go for grab)

I attacked the guy supersonic off a ledge and shot him straight down and he could break free from the stun and flip before he hit the ground every time. nobody else that I've faced could do that

Now i just play for fun.. and its hella hilarious when i alternate between grabs and attacks and on maps with looong pathways.. just multiple side flips.. like feinting an attack to turn into a grab when they have little reaction to react.
Finally gave this mode a try today with a friend. At first we totally suck at it, then I remembered you made this video. So we watched it. And what do you know? We stil freaking suck at it. Because our recoveries are horrible lol. It is helpful though, my KBM friend had an easier time after rebinding his grab button.
"Attacks counter grabs..." yeaaaa... not very often unless you have significant distance. Anyone good will wait to grab and it will be almost impossible to dodge.
I've been able to counter grabs pretty well with timing my attacks right. Trying to find out exactly what kind of timing/speed is needed to counter properly has been an issue though. Rocket League hasn't really told us that info yet, so it's just trial and error right now.
soo... rl gave 5 tips for this gamemode on the rl channel, it was the best video on knockout tips that taught me nothing useful about knockout. this vid was way better and now i should be able to win all my plat knockout matches ez

I know that attacks (flips) are supposed to counter them, and they definitely do, but it seems that grabs almost always over power attacks if it is from the side or close to the side of your car. I've been flipping straight at people that try to grab me (sometimes double front flips) and that has been working pretty well to counter grabs. More trial and error is needed to know forsure though haha

Grabs are seriously op, you have to pretty much predict the future when a really good player grabs and you pretty much hope you can counter it. Imo I think it needs a cooldown timer of when you can grab again, either that or just make it to where you can escape it easier.
Another tip for when you're being chased. Run off the edge and boost down a bit to quickly get onto the wall. Your opponent will either stop chasing you or you'll have the upper hand if you know how to use the walls and you can edge guard from there. Sometimes just jumping at an opponent is enough to scare them off. Also if you can also just do a quick 180 if an opponent is about to grab you from behind
best way to survive being grabbed and spiked into the abyss is to unstun and flip as fast as possible, even spamming jump before u unstun to get a flip asap, flips remove vertical momentum. ive survived some close ones where my car was partially through the abyss

Cool mode, I just don't like how you can get in a game with a party, every game I played so far there were always at least 1 party teaming up against the others which is pretty frustrating for solo players, other than that I like it.

A lot of people were confused about how to even play the mode or what their controls are for it, and that's what this was for. I have just been having fun with it and trying new things. I think there's a lot you can do in this mode that we don't know about yet haha

This mode is amazing what do you mean haha Assists feel kind of lucky honestly haha as soon as you throw or hit someone you're onto the next person or dodging so you don't have time to watch and see what happens usually. I think if you hit or throw someone off the platforms and someone else knocks them out before they can touch the platform again, then you get an assist. But that's honestly just a guess haha

@@rincx329 the physics are a little different and take some getting used to, but I found that once I was more used to them it became wayyyyy more fun.

In all honesty I find it easy to counter grabs, if I recognize that a person grabs a lot then I know to attack

Ya haha everytime I get into a new lobby I look to see if anyone is partied up and target them early on so I don't get stuck in a 1v2/3 later on lol
