Love your work. Thanks for sharing. Where can I buy the light green handles brush for glass painting that Donna Dewberry used to sell? I can’t find them anywhere. Do you have any to sell? They are the best for glass. No streaks on the petals. Mine are so worn out.
I know what you mean. Some of the favorite items I used to use are no longer available. I used to sell on Etsy. I don't sell them anymore. I have moved on to doing more spiritual work. Thanks!
Just stumbled across this video Quick question: Is there a difference between "multi-surface" paint and "enamel" paint? I bought multi surface because it says it's for glass but my paint doesn't go on as solid
Thanks for your comment. You can use either one. Are you adding any other colors to your paint, or just using a single color? If you are putting the paint on in a thin layer, you may need to give it another coat of paint. It is important that you apply a good coat of paint to help with the durability of your design. I hope that helps! ~Amy
How do u get the paint to go on so smooth, experience with it or a certain type of paint brush. I've done some flower painting on a wine glass, and mine comes out with lines through them with some parts kinda smooth. I used a round paint brush by folk art which I think are the wrong ones to use, then I tried the angular kind by crafter's choice. And do I wet the paint brush a little to soften the bristles?
Amy , do you put glass directly on oven rack? Where do you place rack in oven, top, center, or bottom?I have never painted glass. I would also like to paint on the front of a glass mirror . Thank You!
+Donnna Fox I just place in the oven where it fits. Just depends on how many glasses I am baking and how tall they are. I am not sure about baking a mirror. Since you aren't going to be using like you would a drinking glass, I wouldn't bake it if you are using Folk Art Enamels. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Amy
Would have been helpful if you explained that you were using the "one stroke" technique by loading two colors on the large brush at ones, and actually show how you load the brush, rather than showing the wine glass with the paints off camera.
At Michael's, they have an overwhelming supply of brushes. How do I know what a "1 stroke" brush is? Does it say it's for acrylic paints, natural or synthetic hairs, etc?
They are actually called One Stroke Brushes. I am not sure if Michaels actually carries them anymore. They would be in with the Folk Art Enamels and paint like that, not in the fine arts area. You might want to check Joann Fabrics: www.joann.com/search?q=one+stroke+brushes .....I am not really sure, but I think the glass painting brushes are synthetic.... I hope that helps.
The Folkart Enamel she is using is a form of acrylic paint--acrylic enamel. You can also use Folkart Multisurface acrylic paint (both should be baked after they dry) but do not use regular acrylic paint (Folkart or any other brand) since it will not adhere well to the glass even if baked. Folkart is better than the cheapest brands because it is more pigment rich (tho not as pigment rich or dense as "artist quality" acrylics, which cost far more, and which seldom come in enamal form.
I use FolkArt paints...They are baked at 350 degrees. I would follow the manufacturer's information on the bottles. All of the paints for glass are different. Thanks!
+Jennifer Alig I did the One Stroke technique or my version of that on this glass. I have painted a lot of glasses, so I don't know if it is just from experience or what... I feel like using white along with another color seems to help make it appear more opaque... You can still see through it some, but it isn't really transparent... You can also go back over it to make it cover better...I can often do that before I move on to the next petal. Depending on the design, you could allow it to dry for at least an hour and then go back over the design....That would make it more opaque. It could also depend on the product you are using. Some tend to be more transparent, and almost stained glass looking when applied... Are you using Folk Art Enamels and One stroke brushes? Thanks! Amy
You can try it, but I would not paint a lot of them without trying it. I would put a drink in them and see how the paint handles the sweating of the glass. As for cleaning the brush, you would need to clean them with whatever product the manufacturer recommends on the product you are using. Good luck!
Thanks for your contact. I recommend handling them like fine china. Just don't use abrasive cleaners or pads to wash them with. You can place them on the top rack of your dishwasher, but I recommend hand washing to keep them looking nice longer. With Folk Art Enamels, they don't have to be coated, but you can try adding the Mod Podge which is for glass and is dishwasher safe. Also, if you place the paint on thicker, that makes it more durable. you do have to be careful that the paint doesn't bubble, if you are baking them. You will get the hang of it with experience. They can be air dried and cure fully within 21 days, if you are using Folk Art Enamels. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks! Amy
+Komal Javaid Thanks for viewing my video. I use Folk Art Enamels. This glass was painted using the One Stroke technique. Typically, you are using two colors at one time. +Komal Javaid They can be hand washed or placed on the top rack of the dishwasher. They really should be handled like fine china to keep them look nicely. Do use any harsh cleaners or cloths to wash them with. Also, don't let them sit in water. That could cause the paint to come off. Thanks...Amy
They are listed at the start of the video, although it would have been good to note that "Thicket" is thicket green, since in the rest of the video she just keeps calling it green.
Any time you paint on glass it can scratch. I will last if you take care of it and handle it properly. No harsh cleaners and if you dishwash, to place it on the top rack. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks for stopping by!...Amy

Very nice😍 what kind of colour you use? After you paint you put any paint to cover the surface?to still safe from water
Please see info in the description under the video. You can wash them, but don't let them sit in water.
How do u seal them
You don't actually have to seal them, but you can if you want. I just put a coat of the dishwasher safe Mod Podge on the design. I hope that helps...

+Shaundra8881 I use the 1 stroke brushes for this style of painting...I love them...They last long too!

I buy it at Joann Fabrics....
Can I use acrylic colour?
Unless you mix it with a glass medium, you really should use glass paint

I have enamel spray paint, can I use that? Do I need varsol to clean the brushes?

Is it like ceramic painting or glass painting??
Glass paint...Folk Art Enamels are made by Plaid ... The pink is magenta...
did u use transparent or crystal colr or poster color?
+Komal Javaid Thanks for viewing my video. I use Folk Art Enamels. This glass was painted using the One Stroke technique. Typically, you are using two colors at one time. I normally use white along with another color when painting flower petals. I think that helps make them more opaque.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Amy
By washing the glass the color will stay or finish?
+Komal Javaid They can be hand washed or placed on the top rack of the dishwasher. They really should be handled like fine china to keep them look nicely.
Do use any harsh cleaners or cloths to wash them with. Also, don't let them sit in water. That could cause the paint to come off.
Thanks...Amy
