The second mouthpiece absolutely has a bit more Sizzle at the higher register and yes you locked in nicely throughout those climbs into the upper staff. Yet I can appreciate those warmer colors with the V model. Very pretty tone ..
Thanks for the insight and knowledge shared

I need to expand the tube to prevent this from happening again.

Ok. I bought this 5V and love it. The rim is narrow ,and keep you from using to much pressure .I wish it a had a wider flatter rim. Im 68 and weight 250.My stroke has effected the left side of my lip . The smaller size along with the 3 C is working . Thanks 🙏

That's great 👍 We do have 3 wider versions of that rim in the SpectraTone.

  • @ismiregalichkochdasjetztso3232

The observation on flat teeth and Bach rims is spot on. I need a wider rim. I'm currently playing on a no name "7C" mouthpiece that has a wider rim than the Bach, and I like it much better than the original one.

I play a 5B on my Bach Strad. Started with that in College and fifty years later I still am. I’m looking to find a better mp fit this horn. I also have a Besson cornet from the 1890s, a beautiful instrument, fully engraved every where. Two lead pipe and slides for the “high and low” keys. B flat and A. Don’t know if I should ream the lead pipe for a modem mp or find someone that makes the Besson taper. Any thoughts? This horn plays wonderfully. I have some amazing pictures of this gold plated horn.

It seems to get flat as you ascend into the upper register, Intonation is funky with this mp. Your probably used to more efficient mouthpieces , you need more support in all registers to keep that thing from playing out of tune.

I specifically explain the intonation tendencies of mouthpiece variations in many of my SpectraTone and 5MM videos. There's nothing wrong with this mouthpiece or the way I played it in the video. When you increase the volume of the oral cavity or mouthpiece cup (or anything on the front side of the throat), the octaves will compress. And vice versa with a decrease in volume. This is perfectly normal, and I demonstrate in my videos honestly without moving the tuning slide to show you what to expect.

Thank you for the information I was watching the video with the wrong perspective. I will find the video’s explaining the SpectraTone mouthpiece.I love the sound of the deep V mouthpieces but when I play them it feels like I am wresting a bear.I have to focus on playing and keeping the thing somewhat in tune. When I play a ballad I like to think about the words of the composition that I am playing rather then equipment.I really appreciate your response.

@@tomchojnowski9215 This feeling is likely due to the lack of a bowl shape in the cup. It sounds nice, but that V shape is difficult to control when changing partials. The SpectraTone Blue solves this problem.
