The sound of Wanamaker Organ is so sublime and unique. There is no other instrument on Earth that sounds like this. One of the crown jewels of human culture.
Brilliant Mr Conte!! You find so many wonderful and inspiring sounds from this majestic instrument! Love the Tuba, and the quieter flutes in the rich acoustic.
@@thewanamakerorgan It is like four walls of sound coming down on the listener. Would that the likes of MGM record in Dolby Atmos or the equivalent, but we know that's not going to happen...so you must go hear it in person!
Splendid and superb! I especially enjoyed Jongen's Chorale and Dupré's Cortège et Litanie. I hope they and other favorites like Firmin Swinnin's complete Aria will make their way to a high-fidelity CD or DVD for purchase from the Friends soon. I also have one suggestion - I absolutely love watching Mr. Conte's fingerwork, so when the video moves away from the keyboard work (like at the end), perhaps the keyboard could continue to be shown in a smaller window (like was done for showing the pedalboard work), or better yet perhaps we could see the see the keyboard and pedalboard throughout each piece (in two separate smaller windows) when showing the organ or Grand Court as the main scene, as watching him perform on the Wanamaker is like a master class in organ playing. Or perhaps that is an idea for a DVD?
We don't have anything to announce at this time, but we certainly would suggest you periodically check in at the Friends website, especially during membership time. Pay close attention to the "premiums" that can be offered to certain members!
Thanks for these concerts. I can't be there during summertime so these are a wonderful treat. I'm looking forward to returning to the Grand Court in the fall.
What i'm remembering is that ONE or rather another challlenge to playing baby here is that how many s econds transpire between literally pressing any key or keys and actually hearing it the pipes are so distant from the console!!!!!

How amazing how Mr. Conte looks like Michel Chapuis, same hair and same talent!! love it!!
I think this is the most beautiful performance of Cortège et Litanie that I have ever heard.
You have to heard Olivier Latry playing "Cortège et Litanie" at the Cavaillé-Coll organ of Notre-Dame de Paris. Beautiful too !
Friendly from France.
Love that "endless crescendo" at the end of the Dupre.
A brilliant program and Peter makes the organ sound absolutely fantastic.
Magnifique !!
I hope some day to come to Philadelphia to listen this fabulous organ !!
Thank you.
Friendly from Marseille - France
I am only just discovering the grand Wannamaker organ online, thank you for a great concert Peter with your knowledgeable and excellent commentary.
Appreciate😊

Glad you enjoy it. The organ really is a marvel in the after-hours environment.

Ahhh, one of my favorites....the Jongen Chorale at 8:18. Was hoping he’d pull on those vox humanas at some point, and he didn’t disappoint. Nice!
Glad you like it! Check out the rest of our videos in this series if you haven't already..
Thanks you so much for the posting and lovely playing - What a marvellous instrument and musician....
Thanks for watching! We really appreciate it - feel free to subscribe for future videos!

That hasn't been as big of a problem since the relay was replaced, but it's always a challenge to have pipes at different distances from your ears..
Brilliant
Love the socks
I find so weird the biggest funcitoning organ is at a Macy's store lol
Loved the Happy Birthday encore!! Whose BD were you celebrating?
The organ's in this space.
