Hi Amanda ..great tutorial ... Am painting an antique carved almirah in Annie Sloan s Chicago grey chalk paint ..i hv used clear wax n then gold gilding wax but the gold is not showing ..can I put metallic foil over the clear wax n gilding wax ..pl advise ..thanks
OMG i love this! i need to jazz up my boring black bookshelf, just the rims. Should I do this or do you recommend just using gold acrylic paint? this looks so much fun!
O M G holly popcorn idea popping wow 🤩 So I can do a whole 10ft heavily carved antique table with this and seal it with some mega sealer and have a compete Royal 👑 Table!? Yasss 🐍 give it to meee
yes! We also recommend using General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in gloss. Keep in mind, you will probably want to use a water-based topcoat and you want something with a gloss finish.
Do I get this right, for a mega carved multi layer peace of dining table most epic gold result, paint the wood with golden paint, then add the 3-step-process-gold-foil and where necessary add the gilding wax!? Multi-Gold 😍
It’s not real gold leaf. You can use real gold leaf if you want to spend the money but it tends to rub off if it’s on furniture that’s anything other than decorative. Foil is just harder wearing with a similar look.

I remember when you did your first video and introduced us to foiling. I have used both the silver and gold and there isn’t anything like it!
We LOVE foil!
Cool where do I get it? I'm building luxury classic furniture and wanting to try it on furniture.
I haven’t gotten an answer from the creator if you can please tell me where you bought your foil.

For the best bet, I would remove the wax first. You can do so with a rag and mineral spirits then go ahead and foil!
@@SuitePieces thanks a lot Amanda❤️

Can you use a different top coat ?
yes! We also recommend using General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in gloss. Keep in mind, you will probably want to use a water-based topcoat and you want something with a gloss finish.
Any clear coat works? And do I seal just that part or the entire furniture piece with a roller??
We recommending Artisan Enhancements Clear Finish OR General Finishes High Performance topcoat in Gloss. We use a brush ; )
If I want to match Marge Carson gilding for a rail would you suggest foils or gilding paint?
Not sure what product that is. For more help, you can visit our Virtual Consultation on SuitePieces.com!
Can you use the foil process on furniture that's already painted and what's the difference between using the foil with chalk paint?
Absolutely! Foil is an enhancement product you can use on top of Chalk finish paint
Vintage toothbrush😂😂😂 funny 😂

I sealed the leaf but the size is still sticky. What should I do?
Hmm, did you seal it with one of our topcoats? If so, try a second coat

The steps are paint then use Artisan Enhancements Pearl Plaster then Foil. You can use gilding wax in smaller, fine details and on the hardware

Hi. Where are you located?
We are located in Huntington on Long Island
Horrible nothing to do with a real old technique with a real gold leaf
Sorry you were disappointed. This is NOT real gold leaf. This is gold foil, which is pressed mica powders.

I don’t think this is horrible , I think it’s pretty useful and a lot easier than the old method .
