I have wrote this on different forums over the years...and I still believe it. The Sweet belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Feel the exact same way about Uriah Heep, Boston, Jethro Tull, and for the longest time felt that way about Rush, Deep Purple and Yes.

Sweet are one of those bands, in my opinion, where it’s hard to consider which album is their best. I enjoy all of them with original singer, Brian Connolly. They really did everything from psychedelic (the early singles before Andy joined), bubblegum, glam, hard rock, etc. A superb band in all their phases. I’ve been a fan since hearing “Little Willy” for the first time in 1972.

To this day, I believe that Sweet is the most underrated band in history--of any music genre. And I agree with you that John has provided us with the best interviews with the legendary Andy Scott.

I remember listening to "Give us a wink" for the first time way back in the seventies. I could not believe my ears. It was an epiphany. I was flabbergasted. The Sweet had so much more to offer than the commercial Chinn & Chapman stuff. How I miss those days. The Sweet were anything but sweet, they were a genuine hard metal band, one of the best ever and far ahead of their time. Many youngters today, including my sons, were very impressed when they first heard "Set me free".

Funny to hear Andy talking about 1967; the year I was born and yet they are my fave band of all time. Andy is always so open sharing his memories with us all. Love you, Andy, and Sweet!

Andy is so eloquent with his laguage and how he decribes the times and the people and stories. He is of my parents generation. Even they didn't understand the massive shift they were a part of in their time. I had to retrospectively discover Sweet (and other brilliant artists) and be hooked (secretly) in the later 80s, dare I say, when they were uncool in my age group. I just finished reading Steve's book. I couldn't put it down til the end. If ever there was a band in history who really did click and create magic music, it's Sweet. Totally undercredited by the industry, and by bands they obviously influenced. They had such a profound impact because of their energy as individuals and as musicians. Personally, for me, I like the original Sweet with Brian. Good on Andy for keeping magic alive though with his band. So many questions that could be asked of the four of them. Three now sadly gone with their own stories forever silenced.. Their music legacy no doubt will be discoverred by future generations thanks to yt and this channel and others. Ask Andy more please!

Love Andy's comments about "the future". I was at the new Century Hall gig he refers to and had gone to see his band, the Silverstone Set - as most of the xrowd had. When Hendrix came on, as he said the floor emptied and the bar was packed out. I was one of about 50 watching Hendrix.
Evertime Ihear this comment about the gig, it always makes sme smile at the irony. Andy in Sweet and Ted, the singer, joing Love affair :-(
    Howerver, Sweet red hot!!!!!!!!

I'm not familiar with the US version of Desolation Boulevard I know it's a mix of the UK version and Sweet FA. But IMO Sweet FA is The album, way better than Desolation Boulevard or Give Us a Wink. I still have my Vinyl copy, and it still plays. One of my most treasured items.

I didn’t know that the North American release was different from the British. I guess that’s why the album was so spot on. My perspective of Give Us a Wink has changed now.

Andy, Mick, and Steve didn’t want to get involved with the press side of things, it was left up to Brian. Then they got peed off because Brian got the headlines, quotes, and attention! It’s well known that Brian was the only member of the band who could be bothered with press and publicity.

They were huge with the fans but never got taken seriously much with big wigs of the industry because of the bubble gum stuff they had to play in the beginning. A lot of people here in the US didn't really get to hear much of the great hard rock stuff. We mainly got the 4 big hits. That's why people say they're underrated.
