This man was KILLING it writing and recording and playing live on stages over 40 years ago and people have the nerve to make juvenile comments about his appearance now that he is nearing 70 years of age?
Grow up. This man is A LEGEND.

Thats true! The great hair splendour of Andy is absolutely insignificant. Little things are interesting for some people - every person is different. The music which is heard for more than 40 years is important. In particular from me :-)

"Action" is the song that made me a Sweet fan, and caused me to purchase "Give Us A Wink." I thought it was a brilliantly-constructed hard rock song. And I was not disappointed with the rest of the album either. Gone was the 'bubble-gum pop,' and Sweet suddenly had my full attention as a top-class hard rock act rivaling any of the other top acts of the day. I was impressed by both the songwriting and the musicianship, and I went on to buy all of their albums. And when the CD format came out, I've re-bought them all many times over to get all the extra tracks. I think I'm even more of a fan today than I was in the 70's, knowing more about music today than I did then, and now more able to fully appreciate all of the hard work these guys put into their craft. Respect.

I had the pleasure of seeing Andy Scott play live in Las Vegas back in 1994 at the Hurricane club. I got to meet him after the show and I was like a little kid. I had so many questions about songs over the year and my mind went blank lol. I did get an Andy Scott pick :-)

Action was THE sweet song that got me aware of the band back then. It hypnotized me as i was 10 years old. I always asked myself how they did it and until today, i frequently find something new in the track.
I feel blessed now listening to Andy explaining the details.

At the time Action came out I was ~ 10 or 11. I remember being thrilled with the 'edginess' of the song. All my friends thought I was a dickhead for liking such shite.
Well let me tell you, now I'm older and know a thing or two about stuff, I think Action is quite possibly one of the most unlikely songs to make it to the pop charts.
Fully twenty years after it was released (around 1995), I remember at 7am one morning, on an alternative radio station of all things, driving over a bridge (I'm a truck driver) and Action coming on. At the end of the song, the DJ said "An anthem to kick start a town".
I thought that was a rather classy thing to say. It is very like that this song.
It makes you feel at home in a world of dystopia - it's all happening and I'm in it!
For me this song has never aged and accordingly I would call Action a Rock Classic.
Synergy; the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Action nails synergy and is just a bit special.

I love the simple creative genius of forming a cello trio just for one song to orchestrate a one-note guitar riff. It seems like they had an artistic philosophy similar to The Beatles, in how they intentionally recombined fresh creative ideas into something infectious, innovative and unique with popular appeal.

Please, I beg of you, for the love of God, ensure that these videos are always accessible to musicians. This is information you can't get anywhere from people of this magnitude in the business. The Sweet was such a badass band too in those days, not to take one iota away from the band now, but holy crap, what an entertainment machine! Thank you so much for sharing this wisdom! Hey Andy, the Sweet as far as I am concerned were a very underrated band and at points it must of been frustrating to not identified as great musicians in the media , but now that has proved everyone wrong, these are still great songs that are still listened to and will go on being listened to in years to come, that is why we are here. I am a musician myself and have heard you say before after Queen came on the scene they had a similar fervour with layering and harmonies with vocals " Action is a good example", could you explain the "secret" or the sound of Sweet, with your voices, as I know you could all sing, but there is a certain element that is very identifiable as the Sweet, it would be great if you could explain the engineering behind the vocals of the Sweet sound, love it and loved the show in Torquay 2015. This is a great Idea thanks Andy!

I originally bought the "Give Us A Wink" on 8 track tape, thats what was available at that time back in the 1970's, the intro to Action has been imprinted into my head as i played it over and over, hearing maybe hundreds of recordings of this song i was only able to find one that closely matched what is imprinted in my head, that original did not have Brian screaming out a aaaaaaaawwwww [ which in my view wrecked the great intro] . I have never heard a live recording or preformace that matches that intro to Action that i imprinted in my head from that 8 track tape, later years buying the same on Album and then on CD but that intro was different, only slightly but it was different. Sadly 8 track tapes did not last long, they would stretch out then brake, had many ripes and tape mends till its end came when the machine ate up and chewed up the tape, it was gone to the trash then.
