For those wondering, the original music is by Camille Saint-Saëns with his piece called Danse Macabre. It is based on the following legend: Death appears at midnight every year on Halloween. Death calls forth the dead from their graves to dance for him while he plays his fiddle (usually represented by a solo violin). His skeletons dance for him until the cockerel crows at dawn, when they must return to their graves until the next year.
And the attraction builds on this story. The conductor you see in the clip and his orchestra have a part, just as the little lovely cat with the two colored eyes. Not all is as it seems.......beware if you enter the haunted Abby.......
When Dutch people ask me about Epica's music, me being from the Netherlands, I've always told them it's something like "metal meets efteling music". And now it's actually true. Thank you for giving us efteling metal 🤘🏻
So, this song was commissioned by an amusement park and they doubled down on it and brought it all to life. The ghouls, the children choir, the trickery, the Gothic atmosphere, the metal and the symphony. I know it has been said before, but Epica truly lives up to their name. The song is so good, the vocals are delightful. Congratulations one more time.
Some context: The Efteling fairytale theme park in the Netherlands has had a haunted attraction since 1978 in which the Danse Macabre music was used. It is now being replaced with a new haunted attraction called Danse Macabre, which uses the same theme music. This new attraction will be opened next week on Halloween. The release of this song by Epica with the Danse Macabre theme is no coincidence, with the video providing us a sneak preview of the new Efteling attraction. How exciting! ❤
Oh, that's neat! Thanks for that. As a poor Canadian metalhead I'd never have known. Obviously super Halloween-y, but the added context is cool, as now I know why it's super Halloween-y. :)
In addition to what @kirstenbakker839 says : Kate Bush has made a few videoclips with the previous haunting attraction that was standing on the same spot before this new attraction. I think Efteling (themepark) wanted to make this a tradition of some sort. And because the new attraction is spooky and gives a phantom vibe, I think Epica is the best Dutch choice for the collaboration!
There is something else worth mentioning: when the ‘Spookslot’ opened in 1978, it was Kate Bush who recorded six video clips in and around the attraction. Undoubtedly, this clip is a nod to the original way of promoting a new attraction back then. 🤘

Oh no, we’ll stay here in the light
Come on have some fun, you will see the sun, when the show is done, follow if you dare
[Verse 2]
Hope fades as I’m closing the door
Too late, you can’t leave anymore
Old fairy tales play by the rules
Here there be monsters and here there be ghouls
[Chorus]
It’s time to free the ghost in me
Possessed by this beautiful melody
Just come with me I’ll make you see
To dance with the dead is your destiny
We know you’re a witch in disguise
Follow me and you’ll see what I’m singing is true
Oh, no, don’t look into her eyes
As I hypnotize you will realize you cannot escape (the) yellow and the blue
It’s time to free the ghost in thee
Give in to the dark phantoms agony
Our choir sings eternal songs
Abandon your fears while you sing along
We wonder what the shadows hide
Not scared anymore we shall go inside
The one unnamed's compelling thee
To echo this melody endlessly
Take one more step beyond this door
And you will be singing forevermore
The orchestra's playing
Dark melodies swaying
Enchanting, betraying
It’s time...
Feel it beginning
Everything's spinning
Thunder, lightning
Joyfully frightening
Come and join the night with me
Come enjoy the ride with me
Let your ghost be free
So now you see
The ghost in me
Eternally singing in harmony
And finally
We all agree
To dance with the dead is our destiny
As you surrender to me
Gone are the days of being afraid
Sing with me for eternity
Come take my hand
It’s not too late
This must be fate
If you only trust me
I'll show you the way
My way
Come together
Dance forever
Join us in our
Endless nightmare
Embracing the night
While you sing

@@guidobouman2819 They do! I found an article mentioning it's located outside in the graveyard. (Which saves my eldest the trouble of looking for it next week. I was wondering whether the tomb stone was there to stay)
I suppose they kept Kate Bush's tomb stone too?
What video did Kate Bush make? I’d love to see it.
@@KamariaBarvon She made an entire special with 6 songs or something, simply search for 'Kate Bush Efteling' and you will find it i guess.

I agree! I looked on Spotify and it's not released on there yet 😞
My God… I’ve ever loved Saint Saenz Danse Macabre and also Épica. But this… a mix of both of them, It’s just amazing!
I became a Epica fan in 2005 , they have never disappointed me in the new work .. always come up with a masterpiece ❤❤❤
OMFG, that was insanely good!!! Epica as always keep making the best songs ever. Love the song.
I knew that it will come. Thank you so much Epica! It would be a nice surprise, if this song will be on the new album.
The guitar solo goes HAAARD. I got goosebumps
I've seen the song live at Afas Live. I had goosebomps the moment the choirs started!
Dudeee this is so INSANE, LOVE IT with Saint Saëns Danse Macabre!! 😍😍

Absolutely brilliant. Such an amazing band.
I love them back to symphonic again! And the guitar solo... made my day, then my week.... perhaps my month...?? Isaac Delahaye hears like still couldn't forget how to improve a song!

This was so freaking amazing live at the Symphonic Synergy.
I was so disappointed when I looked it up after the concert and it wasn’t out yet. It was so good!
That's awesome! Epica is really out of this world.
And just another masterpiece!
I get real goosebumps when I hear the part "It's time to free the ghost in me
Possessed by this beautiful melody
Just come with me I'll make you see
To dance with the dead is your destiny
Oh, no, we're afraid of the night
You'll be safe, just be brave, there's no need to be scared
Oh no, we'll stay here in the light
Come on have some fun, you will see the sun, when the show is done, follow if you dare"
It is sooo beautiful!!
True masterpiece ❤
Epica never fails to impress
Camille Saint Sance would be proud to see his music brought back to life with the electric power of rock and opera. Welldone
Please release this, I need this in every playlist I have!!!!!😍😍😍😍
November.
Just in time for the 150th anniversary of this tune. Still works.

Просто шедеврально!!! Epica как всегда на высоте!
I was not expecting for this!! I loved this song so much in the latest concert, thanks for the official video!
Seriously so incredible!!!!!
Somehow I keep coming back to this song. It's just way too amazing, and it even matches my mood today: low social battery needed to recharge on my way home from a babyshower. It was fun, but just a bit too much.. This song is being played at max volume today 😅😅
The new masterpiece of EPICA! I love this song! This band is greater than great!!! 🎙🎸🎸⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The collaboration we never knew we wanted, yet still got🤟❤
Omg, Thriller vibes in the end! It's amazing!
