I feel so bad for Darryl Grant and Kelvin Bryant. They were both such good Redskins, and both just missed being on the '91 team that dominated the League and won the Super Bowl. Bryant's career was over after the '90 season, and Darryl was on the Bucs in his final season in '91.
Mark Rypien was still wildly inconsistent at this time, I also remember he had a fumbling problem, every time he got sacked he fumbled - but he and Joe Gibbs worked on it and by 1990 he was getting the hang of things and by 1991, well, let's just say he was in the zone in 1991
It's interesting that Madden brings up the previous meeting the year before with both of these teams. And references the Saints getting a penalty on their last drive when Dombrowski punched Manley after he was spit on. Which pushed back Anderson's FG attempt back 15 yards. Which he missed. But that particular incident with Dombrowski and Manley wasn't included in your upload of the game.
Actually, the alleged spitting incident occurred earlier in the 4th quarter. The highlights capture a flag being thrown but then we move forward to the missed kick with mention of a 15-yd penalty pushing the kick back. This happened with 12 min left in the game. The score was 24-17 Saints and remained so after the kick was partly blocked and missed. This occurs at around 11 minutes into the highlight video. Just HEARING the announcers SAY "Redskins" is what the REAL NFL is to ME.
For some reason, I loved when Pat said Redskins
YUP DEMOCRATS DESTROY

@@RetroSkins Did CBS never show a replay of it? So it wasn't included?
5:25 Madden talks about incident with Dumbo and Manley as occurring the year before.
Starting 0-2 in 89..this win would get us back to 500..httr
Poor Morten. He would rebound, though. Frequently.
That intro music 🎶🎶,need to bring that back
