Hand in Hand gives me the nostaliga I never physically had. It brings me thoughts and joys of the people living in the 80s in Seoul. I love it very much!
Hand in Hand is hands down the best Olympic Song followed by Power of A Dream.

Hand in Hand is my favorite followed by Amigos para Siempre.
I believe Hand in Hand was the one song which really triggered global interest in Olympic theme songs, and the next two songs were just as successful. These songs were played repeatedly on radios round the world long after the Olympics and were on music charts. But I suppose the 1980s and 90s were the best era for inspiring, anthemic music, for the ones since 2000 were just forgettable, unless you are a local with vested interests.

Barcelona by Freddy Mercury 1992 and Reach by Gloria Estefan 1996 also deserve a listing - plus the 'unofficial' One Moment in Time by Whitney Houston 1988. I would add also Pass the Flame by Yiannis Kotsiras 2004.

One Moment in Time was official, just not the main theme song. Barcelona was certainly unofficial, but if Freddy were still alive he would certainly performed it.
@@LordDavid04 It depends on what do you mean 'official'. 'One Moment in Time' was included in an album made in USA about the 1988 Olympics. However, the 1988 Games took place in South Korea and the said album does not include 'Hand in Hand', the real official song of the specific Olympics, and Whitney Houston never performed it at Seoul. Barcelona, however, was selected as an official theme and a recording of the song was played (since Mercury was diseased) over a travelogue of the city at the start of the opening ceremony.

I vaguely remember Hand in Hand when I was small, but understood that the Olympics were meant to have a song for each 4 years. Amigos Para Siempre stuck with me long after I saw it at the Barcelona closing ceremony on TV. I even drew a picture of that year's Olympic mascot while at school. Honorable mention for Gloria Estafan's 'Reach' and Celine Dion's 'Power of the Dream'

Funny how other non-official songs are more synonymous with certain Games depending on how they are used. Some more memorable ones:
1984: Gold by Spandau Ballet and Olympic Fanfare and Theme by John Williams
1992: Barcelona by Freddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe
1996: Tara’s Theme by Spiro &Wix
2000: Absolutely Everybody by Vanessa Amorosi
2012: Heroes by David Bowie, First Steps by Elbow and I Heard Wonders by David Holmes

I don't know about most but I know the official song for the Atlanta games was "Reach" by Gloria Estefan -- yes, even if I like Celine Dion's song better -- and I'm not sure about this one but the Sydney song was "The Flame" sung by Tina Arena .
Reach for 96 was by far the best.

La canción oficial de loa juegos fue “Amics per sempre” igual que el lema de los juegos, fue compuesta porAndrew Lloyd Webber,. La canción de Barcelona de Freddie y Caballé, no fue compuesta para los juegos incialmente, pero después fue incluida.

I think is a mistake over there in Atlanta 96. Reach or "Puedes llegar" in spanish, is the official song of Atlanta 96 performed by Gloria Stefan.
From all the songs: Hand in Hand (Seoul 88), Amigos para siempre (Barcelona 92) & Reach "Puedes llegar" (Atlanta 96) are the bests of all songs. Very played in radios & tv music programs all the year, very famous songs than others of the oIympic games.
I really like the spanish version of Reach "Puedes llegar" performed by many spanish language singers, included, Gloria Stefan, Roberto Carlos, José Luis Rodriguez (El Puma), Jon Secada, Alejandro Fernandez, Ricky Martin, Julio Iglesias, Carlos Vives, Plácido Domingo, etc.
The power of the dream was also official song in 1996. And Celine Dion sang it in the opening ceremony.

Prior to Montreal 1976 it was mostly just fanfare. Munich 1972 had an Olympic March, and there was also a sort of psychedelic song used in the opening ceremony as well.
