Hi Kate! I've only just discovered you but what a find! My first was your scrappy quilt and although I'm a keen sewer who made several patchwork projects and a bit less quilting back in the 70s & 80s, I spend much of my time sewing dance wear now but I don't think that will stop me watching you making them. :D
I loved the indigo dyeing and while some people might think that 18 minutes of watching you sorting through sewing & crafting drawers sounds like a stretch for anyone's attention span - how very wrong they'd be. I'm hooked already, not least because I have a similar collection myself but other people's are so much more fascinating. Off now to find more of your drawer sorting videos!

Late to the party again. Well, I'm smiling as you tidy up and gather like items together. I make memory books and journals and you make quilts and other sewn items. The reason I'm smiling and sometimes chuckling is that most of what you've thrown into the trash would make lovely embellishments for my books. And all your piles of tape measures would make interesting covers or highlights in my books. Somehow I find it comforting to know that two different crafts can live beside one another and get on nicely with each other's scraps. I'm glad you tube keeps popping your older videos up in my notification pages. You're such an interesting lady. You're only a year or so older than me, but it's like we are generations apart; probably because you were born in a Country of tradition, and I was born in a rather snooty Country. I'm a very patriotic person but at the same time I'm not deaf or blind, I see the way our culture is leaning towards and it's snooty.

Hello from Texas. Those were fun drawers to go through. Interesting to hear all your background stories of the items. You could package-up little sewing kits for young family members, using up your extra tape measures, pins, wrist pincushions, thimbles, needles, etc. I think the young ones would treasure that!

Pattie A. Dunlap Terrific idea Pattie. or donate to a Women's House. May as well put all that stuff to use. Kate, you know how to make those little boxes and goodness knows with all your multiples of sewing supplies, You could definitely get a few sewing kits out of that. Do you really need 10+ tape measurers and how many snips???

"The I might use this sometime soon pile".. hee hee hee Interesting, the three penny bits.... I'm binging Larkrise to Candleford and those bits play an important part starting in the second season........ Coincidence? Fun 'clearing up with you......... A bit of trash but much more rearranging..... It's why I never get very much of the pile reduced.......just moving it from one place to the next. Trouble is, I will look for it in it's old place and not remember where its new place is. So it's lost and if I really need it I must buy another..... Sort of Catch 22. xoxo

My Granny used to use the silver threepenny bits in the Christmas Pudding and she had saved so many over the years that she was able to use them every Xmas from when my mums eldest brother was born in 1919 until she died when I was twenty-six, even though we couldn't spend them by then!

Why is it, that having to do this kind of thing at home, only qualifies as hard work, but seeing you do it, is like watching an ASMR video. There's something very pleasing about it, plus I'm all agog to see what you pull out next.

You may know this hint: Use a magnet to gather up stray pins and needles in the bottom of a drawer. I keep a couple small magnets and refrigerator magnets in my sewing box to keep it a little neater. Just a thought... These drawer-cleaning videos a so fun! Have a good night.

I think that the threepenny coins were probably kept across several generations, to put in the Christmas pudding. My mother kept some for that purpose. As the composition of coins changed I know that it was thought important to use silver coins only. That would be my guess. Love the drawers and their contents... I think most of us have the equivalent in our homes.
