The number one thing you shouldn't do in No Man's Sky is deploy comm balls around objectives in expeditions. Especially those with political slogans or other useless messages.
I dont agree about the freighter i must admit. If you can get one for free, take it. A C-Class is better than none for sure and you get a lot of mechanics with a freighter. Exchanging them later is easy and you can keep all your stuff and your build transfers as well, just remember to transfer your upgrades, this has to be done manually. You might have to pay, but usually until you find the desired S-Class one, it takes a looooong time so you have plenty of money by the time you get there. Especially if you can use the fleet missions of your freighter.
@@nathanhazlehurst484 now thats a lucky coincidence! I have like 600 hours and only saw a squid once and it was a flyby. I tried to follow it but gave up after 20 minutes of flying behind it through open space. And i havent found a single S-Class freighter either :(.

I'm a very new player, and I kept trash for refining but it seems cheaper and faster to just buy ferrite dust for example. Refining trash for nanites takes forever and I stopped. Curious find is okay, but faster is just selling modules from pirate systems or buying and selling mods on stations with high reputation.
You're 100% right... but later in the game you'll just place all that junk in refiners while you go off and play. Then, when you're next around you'll collect them
Actually radiant shards are way better for nanite farming as are inverted mirrors. Radiant shards are 1 shard for 50 nanites, and inverted mirrors are 95 nanites per 1 mirror. Hyaline brains are 230 nanites. All of these take A LOT less time than runaway mold for nanites and the ratio is way better. I made 12k nanites in about 2 hrs just using my exosuit refiner and running around a dissonant planet.
@@MelFlagg yeah i just farm sentinels for a bit then jump to space and get the ai chip from the dreadnought ,,then refine the atlantideum and pug...i could farm shards but thats ..well...alot of bouncing around when i dont need to

very early game keeping living slime around can be the difference between being able to afford an S class upgrade or not, but you will very quickly find better ways to earn nanites that are also a lot more fun than sitting in front of a refiner.
I refine them on the go in my inventory. I don't stress out about it. It happens and it gives a little bit without any real effort. If you are tight on slots then toss them, but outside of that it's just a bonus, not a main income.
yeah i haven't followed this to a rational conclusion yet but there's living bio circuits and other weird stuff that can be forged outta this stuff....
Yeah do not get rid of tainted metal. It refines to x2 nanites. Always sell the captains log and crew manifest from derelict freighters to the junk dealer for tainted metal. Screw the explorer's guild. 😂 The slime, I would say only the purple kind is worth holding on to, and even then... it takes like 45 minutes to turn one stack into a stack of mold that only make 2000 nanites. If you refine the brown and green slime it takes forever for barely anything. I wasted so much time in my early days with slime. Better to seek out Curious Deposits and make a farm, and then get 10 refiners with 10 stacks rolling, and get 20,000 nanites in 22 minutes.
Rusty metal is clutch in an early stage of a new save. You get a ton from the green loot boxes. Best method for ferrite dust is to strafe areas with your ship cannons. You can mine with your ship and collect a ton of ferrite dust, carbon and dihydrogen. Especially on a nuclear planet, they tend to be very dense with rocks and small plants.
also, get the free freighter, if you want to get the pirate one. Because, if you don't have one, the Pirate Dreadnought attack event won't start. And believe me, the Pirate Freighter is sick. Other freighters loks boring, honestly, compare to pirate.
I wait till I get a dreadnought battle and get that freighter instead. No matter what class it's an awesome ship and you can rinse and repeat to get an S class if you want.
You shouldn't use your method for multi tool expansion. You should get rep with the right guild and portal back and forth getting upgrades for free on repeat. Easy peasy
I always plan to wait out a good freighter, but I get so tired of having to teleport back to my first base in the first system to get at my storage units. I always break down and take the first free freighter. 😂 Its not that hard to come up with the 100,000,000 to buy a better one later. I will suggest you do not dump any cargo expansions you might have gotten into that first freighter though, cus you ARE gonna buy a better one later and cargo expansions are hard to farm.
You earn a insane amount of money with a average freighter, have a mobile base and can finance a better one if you want later. The other Chips choose more picky, but the class of the freighter is not important. You can call it so the warpdistance is unimportant. Not a good advice. By the way in the actual Mission you get a S class ship that look like a wellknown Starwars ship...but built Portals in every System you are and warping is mostly unnessesary.
Actually if you come across a pirate ship attacking a civilian ship attack that pirate ship shields than engine ...BAM...you got a pirate ship most of tha time it will be an A B C class ...SClass is hard but doable
Yea, I haven't played in years, but isn't there a regular pirate dreadnought event now where you can get a free freighter? Even before that, it's not like units were ever hard to come by.
