I don't know how I remember this, but this song was playing on the jukebox when I ate at Billy Heartbeats (a now closed 50s restaurant in Portland, OR inside Lloyd Center) for the first time when I was in 7th grade. That place was one of my favorites for the next decade or so until it closed down. I miss it. And I never knew the Everly Brothers, but when I was little, I used to believe that they were my uncles because their last name is close to the last name of some of my relatives. I grew up with their harmonies and it felt like a real loss when they died. They had beautiful voices. RIP
Love this song and had to introduce my 28 year old daughter to it this morning. I’ve done a great job raising her on the classics, but somehow this one was missed. She loved it too!! ❤️
Songs like this remind me of my much younger years. My parents were born in the 40's, so the Everly Brothers were in almost constant rotation at my house. On 45s of course.

Wow. It's been decades, and NOW I finally know the lyrics to the song and it makes more sense than it ever has before. I always heard it as: "Hey bird dog get away from my Well," and "get away from my Jeep." It seems so silly to think of it like that now.
