These are really great ideas. I love that you use simple staple pieces that many people already have in their closets. And I also appreciate that you speak to many different styles. I love your videos and find them so helpful in doing the perspective shifting work so that I can use what I have, spend mindfully when I do spend and have fun and engage with trends without losing my mind. Your videos are helping me embrace minimalism finally after dipping my toes in for many years. You got me in the pool 😂!!
I have been rocking socks with sandals since the 70's, and still do at the age of 67! Loving all your other style tips, too! Now, if I could only let the top part of my pixie grow long so I can emulate YOUR hair style! Growing out one's hair is such a PAIN, isn't it? 😱 Great seeing you again ~ Amy 😍
This was such a great video!! I love your take on not spending and still taking advantage of trend or the interpretation of trends. Great examples of ways we can change up my look, not my wardrobe. Very excited for your newsletter too!
Damn, your vibe is insanely cool and just right up my alley. How come I didn't find your channel earlier? You have something really special about you that just draws me in. Your way to express things, your energy, your style, your use of language, also you're very sympathetic and give great advice, you have that inner shine to you that gives a very authentic vibe and I love that. I would also say my major style mood is edgy but also casual yet classy, sometimes chic, sometimes not. I always thought it was hard to tie those things together, but I understand the essence of all those moods better and better each day, so actually, it's not that hard, just not really fitting in a specific box that I can draw from. (e.g. I got a black pair of cargo style joggers that are made from a stretchy material that comes across rather chic but still feels like joggers. It incorporates all the moods to me and can be styled in various ways.) I love darker colors (and black) and have my staple pieces that I ALWAYS need in my wardrobe (such as high waisted corset skinny jeans, leather jackets, boots, hats and cropped tops) but struggled to fill the gaps in between. It always felt scattered and really not like me. But now it becomes more and more MY style and still gives me room to play with. Still work in progress, but getting closer every day. (just wanted to share some personal experience and opinion on the overall topic, not really on the video topic, sorry if that's too OT.) And to end my comment, yet another compliment: I love that you are not the stereotypical trend-hunting youtube girl. I understand that a lot of people need to hunt trends in order to earn their money, I also appreciate their work, but I was really looking for someone who's doing things differently. Glad I found your channel. Keep seizing yourself, that's the most beautiful thing someone can do, imho.
Hi Emily ai have subscribed to your newsletter🙏thanks for the video. Im still wearing my wing tips. I often wind a few lengths of velvet ribbon around my wrist and tie in a knot instead of a bracelet. In expensive a looks great with a black dress for dressy occasions or even with black trousers and a white or denim shirt. I keep a few different interesting ribbons and braids in a draw and often add one or two to add colour. Love all the tips. Gale x
Helpful content, as always. I just started combing the side swipe a few weeks ago. Interesting that it is a trending. I like that beads and chokers are back.
Very informative! I have a totally unrelated question. Do you have either the Everlane Boxy Oxford or the Relaxed Oxford shirt? If so, which do you prefer? Many thanks!! Susan
Yay! Side parts are back! I have never thought a middle part no bangs bob or straight long with no bangs and a center part to be that flattering on most people. Might be my 80s upbringing.
Emily do you have a favorite fitted turtleneck brand? I have two from H&M from many years ago that need replacing but I want something that will last! Thanks in advance 😊
Hi, Emily! Fashion question: socks with ANY type of sandal? I just got a pair that is all-purpose, bronze-ish color, and two chunky stripes crossed in an X over my foot (also a backstrap because I do not want to lose a shoe on the metro 😅) Not sure if I want to put socks with that. 🤔Thaughts?
I'd say not all sandals look the best with sandals. I usually go with slides or as minimalist amount of straps as possible. And thicker straps the better.
Side note but those sandals sound gorgeous - it's so difficult to find bronze & dark brown ones these days! I have seen people wear socks with that sort of sandal (especially if it has a block heel) but they're usually longer socks (past the ankles).
Lol. I started with the winged eyeliner in 1985 at 16. But no more liquid liner or hard black line. Now it's a softer charcoal shadow line, and I don't draw the ends up far. Just a tiny flick.
Excuse me but the wingtip eyeliner and pixi hair is a classic. The early 2000 equivalent of blue eyeshadow and a frizzy perm would be a late 30s mom rocking a bumpit hairstyle with low rise flares and a long tank under her tee. I got ptsd flashbacks just writing this.
Agree ! Baby boomer here - same w/ other " trends " like cropped pants ( high waters ) , frayed hems ( need to get hem tape & sew a finished edge ) , half tuck ( shirt tail in or out - make up your mind ! ) , etc. 😂

Sorry, Emily but "peaky" is not the same as "peeky". Peaks=mountains. Hahaha! I thought you were going to pop out one of Madonna's old cone bras or something. 😉
57 spins around the globe 🎉May 13 I’ll be 58 . Grateful for my openness to new looks. I remember my life by what I was wearing @ the moment. I have had Pixies,Perms, and Punk Style Pg tails. Fashion is as fluid in my Galaxy 😂 Your content has inspired me to rock my 90’s CFM shoes with Nike ankle Socks
I am so not a fashionista, but I so enjoy watching you!! Okay, your socks and sandals look cute, but honestly don’t think I could do it. Also, the drop crotch pants…no, just no. All I see is a loaded diaper 😂 😝no!! Maybe I’ll try the side part or bangs. Regardless, I love you 🥰
hummmm...6mins in, and we have already had to buy shimmer, cause that's an update...oh, and two (so far) new pair of socks...one with the striped top and then a printed pair...I think we are spending money.
No, not doing the socks/sandals thing. Not my jam. Peek-a-boo bra is okay, and no bangs for my face shape. Besides, my hair is Uber-short (buzzed, actually). Love the trousers, but I don’t have a bunch; long story.
That black bra and white top is all wrong. You need a sleeveless top and lower cut so that the bra is like a layer. What you are wearing looks like you got dressed in the dark in a hurry.
You Look so good with the minimalist - no wings!
Age 27, cut off my long hair to a pixy. I'm 68, never looked back.
Love it!
PLEASE MAKE THIS A SERIES!!!
this was so fun and good for my wallet
Summer 2023 coming soon :-)
Trendy not spendy is such a good subject. I love your take on using what you have in a different way. Looking forward to your newsletter! 🥳
Thank you Cynthia!
I like your style and your videos so much! You really stand out from the crowd on UA-cam.
Ahhhh Thank you so much 😀
Thank you! I love your eyes with the natural look. I am lucky, my prime time was the 1970's and the 70's are perennially trendy! :)
Very lucky indeed :-)

LOVE SOCKS AND SANDALS ! SOOO COMFY! AND TRENDY? PERFECT!
Trousers! I really hope this means I will be able to find a decent pair of pleated natural waist trousers again. I miss them.

That brown (smoke show) eyeshadow looked great on you!
I love your socks with the light touch of green. Please link where you bought them. And, the sandals with socks is a great look!
I am one who TRULY enjoys your "quirky tendencies", though I REALLY don't care for many of your specific quirky trends 🤣😉😘💖
Great suggestions...love the chokers!

Loved this video! Try tie dye socks with you sandals some time! I wear them with my Birkenstock’s and it’s really cute!
I have subscribed to the newsletter, all the very best and thank you for sharing your ideas 🙂
Awesome! Thank you!
Great tips and I love the socks in sandals. A newsletter, that’s great!! Thank you.
Yay, glad you agree!
My favorite post so far....love it!
Great ideas, fresh and original, thank you Emily!
Glad you like them!
Thank you! Always tricky to know if a choker helps or hurts with an aging neck. Any thoughts? They’re so cute
I would not wear a choker if your neck is at all crepey.
I say wear it! If you like it and it makes you feel edgy and on trend…wear it! I’m 51 and will be rocking the chokers😊
Yea, I'd say wear it if you like it. If you don't like how it looks, don't. :-)
Just my thought. A slightly longer necklace would be better.
:ove what you said about your friend's mom and how she could move on with her look; then you say you could rock your look for years too!😁😁😁
:-) haha thank you!
Love your video! As always💮

You are beautiful and look great without makeup.
Oh thank you!
But she looks gorgeous with it on too.

Omg I can envision it now - especially if they're velour flares (yoga pants) with the word 'juicy' bedazzled across the butt in rhinestones lol!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice idea with the newsletter 🥰
Thank you Katy!
No never socks with sandals 😂
I grew up in the 70’s-80’s and the only one’s wearing socks with sandals were old men. Sorry, I won’t be following this trend! Lol
Agree ! Baby boomer here - same w/ other " trends " like cropped pants ( high waters ) , frayed hems ( need to get hem tape & sew a finished edge ) , half tuck ( shirt tail in or out - make up your mind ! ) , etc. 😂
I know- i just cant. Same age as you!
Agree. I have big legs, thick ankles...cutting myself into more parts, draws attention to and makes my legs even bigger...not doing....ever!
I don’t know. At this age I don’t think anyone cares what I look like. I’m just going to do whatever I want for once.

So did I 😅 why not btw ?
Haha oops! I can see how that may have been misleading. :-)
@@EmilyWheatley Haha! i was like, dang, I don't have enough going on for those bras. Even though they do look cool in a 60's kind of way.
What was the highlighter shown?
Confidence 👌
I love your style but it's 180° opposite of mine. Did like the bra ideas tho, I think I can try that!
Just when I realized my side part is out of style, it's back in! Phew! 😅
Socks with Sandals Emily! 😱
Where do you buy your socks??
Socks and sandals are so comfortable….not everyone loves when I do it 😅
❤❤❤
:-)
It’s a no to the socks and sandals. And no, there isn’t even a glimmer of appreciation.
Liked eyes better without wing liner & the glow
..feels like good mid west advice
