If your concerns are environmental, second hand leather is a much better choice than vegan leathers that produce chemical waste (even the ones made from apples etc).

I'm a long time Vegetarian who cries🤣 when fish are flopping around🎣 on the deck of the 🛥boat or pier. Or, cheers😃 for the underdog escaping a predator on some nature safari show 📺. Although I next worry if the predator will be able to thrive in order to protect/feed their young🥺.
All that to say, I support 🏹Native American tradition (as well as other cultures) who treat the hunt as a noble duty that serves a greater purpose & their prey as a 💫sacred offering. The ones that had/have self-respect, & don't glorify the killing. The ones who honored God as well as the sacrifice & gift of the animal's life. The one's whose tradition it is to also use every part of the animal possible for good & sound purposes. That gratefulness & responsibility makes it far more palatable in my spirit.
😖Nobody gets mad at the lion for eating a deer. It is doing what it was created to do. It is the cycle of life 🔄. The reality is some ppl eat meat. Animals provide needed nutrients🍖. It seems a a double waste to toss their beautiful hides 🚮. Honor the 🐄animal🐊. Just find more humane ways to raise & kill/butcher livestock. They deserve to be treated w/dignity. Crowded corporate Factory Farming is the big evil👹.
🤔That being said, buy leather 2nd hand. Don't let their death be in vain. Don't inflict further harm on the planet 🌐, by going vegan leather. Go 2nd hand, or skip it altogether.
😔Always bought faux leather shoes, but didn't know about the chemicals or processing. Plus, the quality & comfort is not always evident.

Hooray Emily! Loved all of your 7 tips. I'm about to turn 83 (gulp), but I can honestly say that I already do all 7. The edgy I got from YOU, and I was born in Tucson which sort of qualifies me re western attire. I would definitely add a concho belt (wider the better...,.think Jim Morrison) with the denim, top to toe, and western boots of course. Love you Emily!

The overall hat style is a safari, which is basically a bigger brimmed fedora. Turn up the brim and it would be an Outback or western. The higher crown is arbitrary but I think that was what you were trying to point out in it being somewhat western vibe. Great hat.

I'm top-heavy, with short torso and long legs, so can't pull off blazers, button-up tops, short jackets, or belts 😢 I could do the bandana tho! 😅 Have you ever thought about doing videos on styling the different body types? End of summer 2022 I did a cull on my wardrobe and finally donated a lovely pair of tailored mid season wide-legged lined trousers that I loved but had been hanging in my closet for several seasons because I just couldn't seem to make them work with the skinny trend that had been hanging on. So I decided it was selfish of me to keep them if I wasn't wearing them annnd......😭😭😭 welcome back wide legged trousers. Lesson learned - keep the classics.

A few reasons why I like your channel the best- you stick to Styling rather than haul vids;you wear clothes and shoes that reflect your values (ie vegan leather etc); most of the items you show are fairly affordable; you have not made videos with the phrase“old money“; thanks so much for that!
As far as the moto jacket goes- I don’t buy leather either, but when a friend gave me their leather jacket I found I couldn’t really bring myself to wear it much. It didn’t feel true to my convictions. Maybe a used faux leather jacket would suffice for you? And yeah, I know they don’t last forever but at least you are keeping it from going straight to a landfill. Thanks again for being different!

I think buying the leather jacket second hand would be an optimal option! I live my leather jackets, both the ones I bought new (2) and those I bought second hand (2). I bought my first leather jacket in 2009 and for the past 5 years my sister has been using it. Good quality leather jackets can be used for decades really. Vegan leather means just plastic, right? There are some initiatives to make actual vegan leather replacement materials from mushrooms but not likely that it would be a possibility yet

love the belt instead of nipped-in blazer hack. I think if you were young in 80's / 90's one might be naturally cautious about investing in the nipped-in situation. Another trend i see is the 90s knit dress revival--not sure I'm here for it but i do have some original 90s pieces in my closet.

I was just thinking that if you really want to avoid leather, and don't want to buy a new fake one every few years when they start to disintegrate on you, look for a denim or coated denim moto jacket. Or maybe some other fabric that doesn't necessarily try to mimic leather, but still have that moto jacket look. That way you can stick with your vegan thing and also stick with your natural materials.

No button-up shirts because they never fit me properly. I have a super broad back and broad shoulders. I don't have especially large breasts -- but due to the wide back and shoulders, the front middle always gaps between the buttons unless I buy two sizes too large everywhere else. If anyone can suggest a brand of button-up for broad-shouldered, broad-backed women, please let me know.

Try shopping for men's button down shirts, lots of them at thrift stores. They're shaped for broad shoulders like mine, that's what I'm going to do.

Don't waste your money on fake leather jackets. They disintegrate in a few years and you have to throw them away since they can't be resold. On the other hand, real leather is generational. I still have a leather moto jacket i got almost 40 years ago.

Finally! I found someone that thinks like I do about vegan leather. My mum showed me her vegan leather purse she bought last year and it's disintegrating already. She has to now purchase another purse and the 1 year old goes in the landfill! Like you, I have a moto jacket that's 42 and I still own it along with a newer one that's about 4. Fry Leather boots and lots of second hand worn in leather belts. They last forever and the more worn they are, the better.

No button-up shirts for me; I hate the style. I also can't stand polo shirts--too masculine. I only wore a white one in high school because it was part of our choir uniform.
Unfortunately, I have large "girls," and button-up shirts look very ugly on me, add a weighty look, and call attention to that area. I only wear a pullover or zip-up tops with long sleeves.
I also avoid double-breasted blazers. They make me look frumpy and add weight to my body.

I'm larger-busted too but I find wearing a button up shirt open over a tank or tee is a great alternative to a jacket or blazer in hot weather.

I've never liked denim on denim. I'm too old school. It's too much. I'll skip the colored bottoms. Probably a fad that will pass too fast, to invest in.

“Vegan leather” as a term makes me a little crazy! Most of what they call “vegan” leather is absolutely NOT vegan at all, it is just fake leather, much of it being made with petroleum which makes me lose my mind. True vegan leather is great, but the misuse and over use of the term just because it is not animal hide, ya, it’s soapbox material.

I'm not a blazer person AT ALL but I love my moto jacket. I have a black leather one that I bought secondhand years ago and a slightly cropped brown faux suede one. I only have one blazer in my closet right now and I wear it to funerals. 🫣

Just found out from watching RuPaul Drag Race that wearing a grey bandana means you’re into bondage. 🩶

Yeah and wearing a black wedding band used to mean you were a swinger. Since those silicone active wear rings came out, all kinds of perfectly straight, normies wear black silicone wedding bands so when thier fingers swell they'll still feel comfy. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
