Fillmore and Western Railway: The Movie Train

- This Friday, we take a non-narrated ride aboard the Fillmore and Western Railway from Fillmore, California to Santa Paula and return. We then follow one of the railroad's famed mystery trains as it departs Fillmore and heads west.
About the train:
It is called the “Movie Train”, known for the hundreds of film appearances it’s made over the last two decades. Located in the Heritage Valley northwest of Los Angeles, California, the Fillmore and Western Railway operates on a 17-mile long branch line between the towns of Fillmore and Santa Paula. In the past, trains were also operated on the 7-mile line from Fillmore eastward to Piru. Originally built during the early part of the last century by the Southern Pacific Railroad, the line was at one time part of the main railroad route between Los Angeles and San Francisco, California. Today, the tracks only run as far east as Piru, the rest of the rails having been ripped up several decades ago. To the west, the branch line ties in with the Union Pacific Railroad at Montalvo. Running almost every weekend year-round, the Fillmore and Western operates a wide variety of Weekend Scenic Excursions to Santa Paula as well as special event trains.

The train horns and whistles on most of the fillmore and western locomotives sound awesome.
When I was a kid the B&O ran right past my aunt and uncle's house in Dawson, PA. And in the late 60s / early 70s I used to watch the EMD F7s running by. They also had one that pulled a commuter train in Pittsburgh. They phased it out around 1980. Good to see one still in regular service. I also got to see the American Freedom Train in Pittsburgh in 76, pulled by Reading 2101. Good video. I subscribed.

I’m watching in 2019 and at 2:55 the ex-sp c420 is now painted in a different scheme.
This is not a C420, its an RS-32.

Yeah, I find that amusing too. I believe it's a nod to railroads of the past that used to do the same thing many decades ago when the radio thing was still pretty new.

The Fillmore and Western F7 Diesel Locomotive was Numbered 100 which is the same number as The Red and Black F7 Diesel Locomotive on The Sprit of Washington Dinner Train.

It was also on mystery diners recently for Murder Mystery" train.
They are closing up shop this month, until the new owner starts it up again hopefully in fall.

Hi Ken, I'm not sure what the problem is. Audio seems to play fine on all of my devices. Does it work now or still no audio?
CoasterFan2105. Thanks Mike, I checked my Audiotek sound card properties and it had automatically zeroed the settings including the volume!! I've reset them now and all is working well,

Not yet. It's being worked on though.
I'm part of the crew working on 14. very hard to say at this point when we will have her up and going again . But by winter is a possibility.

Not at this point in time.
I work on the 14 on the weekends and help out with quite a bit of the projects. Yes, trains to santa paula are still very much ongoing, thank you!
