I started hearing a squeak from my A/C belt on my 86 that would go away if I turned my A/C off. I bought the belt, but I think I'm going to take your advice and replace both belts and the pulley just to be safe. Thanks for the video. I know it was a while ago but you're still helping people years later!
Mine happen when I turn the truck on it was squeak and then when the truck would move it was continue to squeak I would have to rev the truck for the squeaking to go away yfm
Many thanks for the walkthrough. Bought my 93 4x4 recently and believe that I have figured out why I don’t have ac. There’s no belt and that’s probably because the tensioner is just missing. I appreciate your videos and detail and look forward to more content
Thanks man for the video. Helped me change out the Alternator belt for my 97 nissan pickup, the belt snapped while going 60 mph down the highway, thankfully had someone following behind me that ended up towing me back home. Usually carry a spare in the glovebox but I took it out cause I took it in to get the clutch fixed.
Awesome thanks! Happy to hear you DON'T have to take off the fan! Because the only other video I found showed the guy had taken out both the fan AND the radiator!
I finally got organised to do this yesterday. I've got a noise like a supercharger now - I think I did the alternator tensioner wrong, so will be tweaking that today. I found another video that focuses more on that aspect. #1 Adjust top long tension bolt (14mm), #2 tighten top front facing bolt (12mm), #3 go down the bottom and tighten mounting bolt (14mm). I'm probably going to replace my alternator in the next few months too so I need to remember all that. Anyway, thanks again Curtis, I hope you still have your truck and it's going well, your videos are very helpful. Side note, the local parts store where I got my belts, Repco, it turns out is owned by NAPA.
Thank you for sharing great explanation, i’d too searched on internet and UA-cam but there’s not enough videos made for D21 how to fix this belts so I just subscribe to your channel for more videos stay safe during this tough times ✌🏼.
Thanks alot and I know we need more D21 stuff so many people have these Great Trucks love Mine im sure you Love yours aswell. Thanks for the Sub if you have Questions feel free to Reach out
Thank you so much for taking the time and doing this video it was very helpful and awesome just what I needed on my truck and I got it done I like how you explained it was easy to do. Thx 😊
Found this after I did mine on a 98. All same set up. Alternator was a nightmare! But thank you so much for this video, the clearest instructions!! The pulley you replaced, was that the lower one or upper one? After I changed my belts my truck won’t stop squealing. It’s the reason why I changed the belts but now it seems to be a pulley because my truck won’t stop squealing now. At first it only happened at start up and then went away. Thank you and appreciate the video!!
The Pulley I replaced was the bottom one closer to the driver side. It’s the AC pulley still no squeaks til this day for me. You have to make sure your tightening that tensioner if the belts are to loose they will make noise.
Thanks for posting this video! I have a question how will I know how to tight the belts should be? I just replaced them and it saeals when I start it. Someone told me they may be too tight...
Hey, man this video really helped me the last belt on this video is the one I changed but I’m still having an issue my belt must be too tight I broke 3 of them.
Sorry to Hear that Playa. I dont see how it could brake maybe it is to tight.if you change it again id take it slow and maybe replace a pulley if you have to. Tighten it a little turn the truck on let it run if it sequels try to tighten it a little more until it stops thats when you know your good.
Curtis Fox91 no prob, they just put all new belts on, not sure if they came loose after , was like a month ago , but it’s like screech when startup until the engine levels out, then screech when putting ac on, no screech if in gear being parked, soon as you hit the gas screech, then goes off after about 10mph , it’s a nightmare, would u guess it’s the pulleys or belts needing adjustments or both
Yes if you have a Squeak change your pulley or just Tighten up your belt. It should be one or the other or if tour belts are worn you would need to replace them.
The AC pulley comes out once you loosen the 2 bolts surrounding the pully. One in the center of the pulley and 1 behind it. And then to reinstall reverse the process
Just ask at your Local Auto Parts or Screenshot the video when you see me talking about the Belts and ask them which one is for what component. If i had my receipt i could help you
Thank you for the video brother after watching it i got my answer this pieces of crap trucks are the must horrible garbage to work on so getting rid of this garbage buying me a Tacoma thank you again....

This video helped me change my alt belt in 2 hours yesterday. Saved me time and money, thanks a lot.
I cannot thank you enough for your videos!!! You have saved me SOOO much money by teaching me how to make repairs myself.

Thank you so much. Everything is so up to date and with my old vehicle that’s a decade older than I am tends to not have many videos on it
Awesome thanks! Happy to hear you DON'T have to take off the fan! Because the only other video I found showed the guy had taken out both the fan AND the radiator!
Yeah, the Haynes manual I have says to take off the fan, and to do that, take off the radiator. Good to see that's BS.
Good walkthrough, especially the NAPA singing 😂 But yeah, the little tips for reassembly are gold, thanks for sharing.

Thank you for adding the comment about the pulley. My 94 hardbody started squealing like a pig and it was horrendous
From your video, I was able to see how to tighten the A/C belt and stop the dying pig squeal. Thanks!
MANY THANKS for this. Knocked out my belts in no time at all.

Thanks a Bunch, This Video Was the Saving Grace to helping me change these out on my own!

Really helpful info. Thanks man. It help me out with replacing my belts.
Autozone told me I need a 15360 belt. I see you got a 15355. I read on a forum the 15355 is the right belt. Did you run into that?

You should tighten them to were your experiencing a small amount of play on the belt. Tight but not over tight to were the belt cannot move at all.
D21 Reprazent! Great comprehensive vid. 👍 And my label is prepared to offer you a 6-album deal based on the strength of your Napa Theme Song demo.
Great job this vid was very helpful! I have that annoying sound as well, which pulley did you replace, the A/C Pulley or the bottom tension pulley?
thanks bro just what i was looking to see excellent
What time of video shows the pulley u replaced ?? The pulley u bought ?
Can you share part number for the pulley thay goes under the ac compressor please?

Is the crankshaft pulley suppose to move???
Only if you put a tool on it that Bolt holding it should not be loose.
@@curtfox91 Appreciate that.
Great video brother. Helps a lot
Thanks alot
is this the cause of burning rubber smell?
I replaced the first belt but the smaller pulley started to smoke, any reason why?
For the 9453m did that go onto the alternator system?
Quinn Witters i forgot which ones are for which i have to find my receipt but i got it from Napa you can look on the website.
Thanks, you’re a good man!
What’s the size an number on the ac belt????
I left a like and subscribe on the screeching sound alone, because my truck is doing the same exact thing and it’s really really annoying!

@@LawnJohnSilver i would believe the Belt is not tight enough or the Bearing in the AC pulley is bad.
Love the cussing thanks for your video .
Did the pulley fix the squeak?
Yes if you have a Squeak change your pulley or just Tighten up your belt. It should be one or the other or if tour belts are worn you would need to replace them.
No squeaks for me .
Dude what ac pulley did u replace ? U didn’t show it in the video is it the one under the ac compressor ???

Going back to OEM. The ribbed belt to the alternator screeches like a witch every time I start the truck.
To loose??? It should not screech
