Honestly Origins 3and K is the biggest upgrade. I can look past all the music because the Carnival night music is no longer that generic Clown bullshit from the original. immediate 10/10
my biggest hot take: sonic mania shouldve been in sonic origins
lock-on technology with mania and origins plus
Yes. BuT. Sega wants money. Profit is all that matters
Honestly in my opinion that wouldn't really work
@SuperCarter7081 Yeah. Sonic Mania was an entirely New game, based from the originals. Sonic Origins is the original 4 Sonic games from the Sega Genesis. Sonic CD was from the original sega cd. Back then the sega cd was one of the first DLC. It was an extra 200$. Sega eventually started losing money
@@SSpeedyCarter prolly cuz sonic mania is technically a fan game
Good review
The most disappointing problem is that in Sonic Mania you don't have Amy while in Sonic Origins you don't have Mighty and Ray (especially the Team Chaotix don't make any mention of them being playable)
Correction at 14:49 the last time you could lock on sonic 3 and knuckles was in sonic classic collection on the ds
Your issue with the inability to move out of a roll or spindash in Sonic 1 and 2 has been a thing in the originals, there’s a roll jump lock on every game in the collection but they forgot to remove the lock for sonic 1 and 2, it’s only super noticeable when using the dropdash since mania never had the roll lock to begin with
Honestly, I always thought that the hard boiled heavies were working with Robotnik, albeit begrudgingly, til the end where they clearly betrayed him. But solid discussion on both games, and even though Origins is rough around the edges, it is the best way to play these older titles...on console.
I strongly disagree about the 4:3 Classic Remasters. This to me was my #1 wish and I thought that there was no way we would ever see them.
Back story about how the 4:3 Remasters came to exist. SEGA made an awful port of Sonic 1 for mobile. Christian Whitehead came around and showed SEGA how to deal with the aspect ratio of phones better and made it widescreen.
So where does the 4:3 versions comes from? They were made for the iPad! The iPad was the ONLY 4:3 device on the market. On iOS, if you purchase the mobile version, you get version for iPad, and the version for AppleTV. So I got to play them all.
My favorite was by far the 4:3 versions because they "felt" right and had the least problems in boss encounters.
Given how even the iPad no longer only comes in 4:3, I thought we would never seen those ports again.
Most people went straight to widescreen versions. I playes all 4 Classic versions before touching the widescreen ones, and it's still my preferred way, and a small miracle they were included at all.
Thank you for the reviews. I wasn't sure which sonic game to buy first that would give me the most enjoyable experience of the original games but after the review ima go with Sonic Mania (just seems more fun) and may get Origins some time later. I wanted to get something that had a full collection, I wish they had a game that had all the games like Sonic Collections for PS2.
Buy them both. It's not that expensive. Unless you don't have a job than that must suck. I buy everything I want. Because I only live once.
@@DeadlyFreshAK Haha, what a reply! Wasn't expecting to be called jobless. 🤣 Yes, I am employed and haven't been without a job since I've started working YEARS ago. I'm also an impulsive buyer, but I do quality of quantity and I didn't want to buy a game that I might not like or buy two games that offer the same thing and might feel like copy paste. 🤔Anyway thanks for the suggestion. 🙏
@@CloriEdenx You're welcome 😊
Sonic Mania is fine. But you should try Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Sonic Mania plays like a certain level from Sonic 3. The actual Sonic 3 has different levels you may or may not like.
In Sonic 2, every level plays entirely different. Whether you like the level or not, you get a fresh experience every couple minutes. So its hard to predetermine which game you will like best.
Some can argue Sonic Mania is best optimized. Others can argue that Sonic 2 is more unpredictable (or better level variety.) It depends on your preference
This video was great!
This is at least worth 2m views!
Sonic 2 and Sonic triple trouble are the games from sega I remember playing the most
I wasn't cool enough and lukcy enough to have owned Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I remember that if you had Sonic 3 and Knuckles And a Nintendo 64. You were literally the coolest kid and all the girls wanted to come over 😂
I bought the physical version for my switch I'm super happy thats also bc i never played the original game. I just wanted to see where sonic started. That being said its a shame sega didn't go all the way with it
imo sonic mania if done right would have made sonic origins much better than it is
What’s the difference between these 2 games
One is the first 4 sonic games. The other is a brand new game decades after the original games
sonic 4 still missing from this guy video . and game down .bringing up jackson in kid game bad
