I only went up a few of those hills (a 'baby' 18% exiting Radovna Valley at the north end), and it became clear why two Slovenenians ended up dominating World Tour mountain stages. But OMG the beauty there is unreal. And the honey, and yogurt, and strawberries, and raw farmers' milk, and...
Yeah they have no shortage of long steep hill climbs! Absolutely. The most beautiful country I’ve been to so far. Even in the worst weather, the river section we did was so stunning!
You should get sponsorship from the Slovenian tourist board! Beautiful countryside, the mountains and rivers were spectacular. Looked like a great but very tough adventure. Another great video. 👌😀
That looked amazing Laura! What an experience, definitely got me looking into it for sure! Really good video, loved all the little clips here and there, looked like a blast! Keep it up 👊🏻
Nice video and heavy trip. You have bad luck with weather. Of course, you have drive through the two main rainy parts of Slovenia. One (Vršič pass) was among two of rainy parts of Yugoslavia. 🙂
thank you :). We did. The first half of the week was so hot and sunny then it got crazy! We heard before the trip though that Slovenia can get very wet so we came prepared 😅. I believe that - the Vršič pass day was very wet!! A beautiful country in all weather though. I'll definitely return again!
That looked amazing, some really fantastic scenery. It's definitely one for the bucket list. I did notice the oex tent and maybe an MRS stove and would like to know a bit more about your camping set up.
It was a super trip. Yeah I had the OEX bobcat tent. It was comfortable but I wouldn’t recommend it for bikepacking as it’s bigger and heavier than many others. Once everything was on the bike that weight made a big difference! I’m about to buy the Alpkit soloist instead. Went for a 1 season sleeping bag and mat as I didn’t plan any winter adventures - however after enjoying this so much I think I would have gone for at least a 2 or 3 season bag. MSR Stove wasn’t mine but it was so quick to boil! I might do a video on preparing for this first bikepacking trip and my kit :)
Fellow Scotswoman leaves her home country during a heatwave and ends up getting rained on at her destination. Excellent video, thanks for sharing your adventure.
Thanks! We tend to use a luggage storage service in hotels and stay at the start/end. For this one we were lucky there was a small hotel with an area under construction so we stored them in there. The mainstream ones seem to offer it. Have a great time!
hiya! just wondering how many kms the MTB sections are? deciding whether i should bring my hardtail (which isn’t currently set up for bikepacking) or my gravel bike (which already is!)… thank you, great video! ❤
Hi it’s a tough decision - I had the same one to make with my gravel bike! I’d say about 10% is unrideable on a gravel for most. Loose rocks, roots etc. Equates to about an hour ish or so of walking most days. I personally was very glad I took the mtb but I do know of others who enjoyed it on their gravel and just walked sections. Thanks, it’s such an amazing route!
Thank you for sharing some of the best locations in my beautiful green country.
It was a pleasure to ride in Slovenia. Truly beautiful!

Excellent vlog and thanks for sharing your Slovenian adventure with us.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Looks like a lovely country, big journey on a fully loaded bike, well done for completing the loop and not quiting when things get tough.
Thanks yeah the middle of the week had a few low points in the weather for sure. Best feeling ever completing it! Proper good adventure!
Fantastic edit Laura! Looked equally stunning and brutal at the same time 😅
Thanks! It was both of those things. Proper type 2 fun!!

Nice video from my Slovenia. Unfortunately, you had bad weather in Vršič pass
Thanks! Yes it was a shame about the views at the top. Still really enjoyed it though 😃
Wow, those are big days of climbing. Doubly so with such heavy bikes. Looks like a beautiful adventure though!
Yeah it was tough going! Both the hot days and the rainy ones. All worth it though as it sure was beautiful there 😁

EPIC ... indeed :)

Thanks! Nope never ridden the mtb trails there at all but maybe one day!

Thanks!
Great video, well done.
I'm looking to do this route soon. Can I ask, where/how did you store bike bags?
Thanks!

Thanks! We realised halfway around we had been pronouncing it wrong 😅. Beautiful place!
Where can find your route?
It’s called Slovenia West Loop. If you have a look on bikepacking.com website you’ll find it on there
