    Such an inspiration man. I've also been eating lots of bananas and seeing such a massive improvement in my bowel movements. I thought the sugar was bad but I read the science and researched a lot and found that fat was the issue not the natural sugar from fruits. And I am seeing the results. I used to think that Vegan diets were deficient but after seeing your video it has really changed my viewpoint and also after seeing The Game Changers! Thanks for sharing your story!

    I've been in a constant emotional battle with my self via this healing phase because I've been so desperate to get back into running, dancing, and bodybuilding. Basically, I just want my life back and feared that I may be missing out on that chance as time went on. But seeing videos like this reminds me to just be patient and that I'll most likely be better than ever when things are fully fixed! Signs of which I'm seeing as my vision went from -4.25 at it's worse to being near perfect in the daytime and -1.50 or -2.50 when I'm indoors or out at night. Something I never thought would happen with this change.
    These videos just keep reminding me to keep going and that it'll all be worth it if I'm just a little patient

    Hello high carb health :) I have a question, what do you think about eating walnuts while we are in the healing phase or later. I read a scientific paper (on rats) that they have a positive effect on the bowel affected by colitis. Also a question for legumes (beans, legumes ...) do you eat them now that you have recovered from ulcerative colitis? The last question I would like you to answer me is natural kefir and do you think it is good. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼

    • @highcarbhealth1
      @highcarbhealth1  3 роки тому +2

      Nuts are quite harsh if your intestines are inflamed. You don't want to be eating that type of fiber if your bowels are sore. Yes I eat all plant foods including beans and legumes. Probiotics are ok, kefir without cows milk is the preferred option. Fermented vegetables like saeurkraut is also an option.

      You don't have to eat these foods, however, your gut must still be damaged and not strong enough to handle the more harsher fibers. Once you heal you should not have a problem with oxalates. I don't and many others don't :)

    Do you think eating too much fruits is bad for the long term health? I eat 2 smoothies a day (8 bananas, 7 dates and 125g of blueberries in total per day) and I read on internet that eating too much fruits can cause non-alcoholic fatty liver disease due to the high amount of fructose. I think that why Dr Mc Dougall recommend 2 to 4 fruits a day. Is this true?

    • @highcarbhealth1
      @highcarbhealth1  4 роки тому +2

      Hey, thanks for the comment. There is no research that fruit is bad for health. You will not find one study that states this. There is research that fructose from high fructose corn syrup is bad, but it is a refined sugar, so that is to be expected. Don't read stuff on the internet, look at the studies and what they are actually saying. Look at who is funding the studies and what the conflicts of interest are. I have linked some research for you below:
      "Seventeen people were made to eat twenty servings a day of fruit. Despite the extraordinarily high fructose content of this diet, presumably about 200 grams a day-8 cans of soda worth-the investigators reported no adverse effects (and possible benefit actually) for body weight, blood pressure, and insulin and lipid levels (fats in the blood) after three to six months. More recently, Jenkins and colleagues put people on about a twenty-servings-of-fruit-a-day diet for a few weeks, and no adverse effects on weight or blood pressure or triglycerides, and an astounding 38-point drop in LDL cholesterol".

      I have been eating the majority of my diet full of fruit for 7 years and have had no issues with my liver. There are many more people eating more fruit than me and yourself and have ZERO issues with the liver, in fact, some people have probably reversed their fatty liver disease through eating lots of fruit. Look at people getting the results long term and try not to listen to people on YT. Do your research. You know about the study that Dr Greger looked at about how much fruit is too much. If you are feeling good then keep going. If you want to include more whole fruits then go for it you don't have to do smoothies either. I would be eating other fruits and whole too. Make sure that you are chewing your smoothies well and not gulping them down. I think some of the studies done on the fatty liver were due to high fructose corn syrup not natural unprocessed fructose from fruits. Big difference there. All the best.

    • @highcarbhealth1
      @highcarbhealth1  4 роки тому +4

      So there is a study which suggests "replacing a serving of whole grains with a serving of refined grains, fruits, and fruit juice was associated with 3%-12% increased the risk of fatty liver." and " Fruits and fruit juice are rich in fructose, and excess fructose may stimulate lipogenesis and suppress mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation"
      www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5968737/?fbclid=IwAR0Y9BStEnNu_tQCaN_PVWXw-etmginTPHPrWh7Xzoms8iReJoxyK8VW5XI
      However, they were not able to separate fruit juice from fruits as a whole. So saying fruits cause fatty liver disease is incorrect. They even mention that a separate study showed the opposite of their results.("The positive association between fruits/fruit juice and fatty liver in our study is inconsistent with another cross-sectional study in Hong Kong, which showed an inverse association between fruits and NAFLD)" I don't think there is strong evidence from just this 1 study to show that fruit causes fatty liver disease. You need a meta-analysis of multiple studies majority of which point in the same direction or a very well-conducted RCT. I think you can safely continue to eat fruit as part of a healthy diet.
      "However, clinical trials examining the effect of fructose on fatty liver tended to be confounded by excess energy intake, and researchers were unable to make conclusions on the isocaloric effect of fructose [56]. To make sound recommendations on fruits for fatty liver prevention and management, more studies are needed to (1) distinguish the lipogenic effects between different fruits and fruit juices, and (2) find the threshold for fructose tolerance for individuals at risk of fatty liver. This is especially important given that fruits are essential to a healthy diet, and contain beneficial anti-inflammatory and antioxidative polyphenols [14], which may be essential in reducing inflammation and oxidative stress in individuals with NAFLD."

    High Carb Health its good to see that some people are genuinely feeling better after following your protocol but there are many who are still suffering even after following your protocol I have even talked to them.. I just want to say target those people also who are not getting better even after following an elimination diet or plant based diet. Combine all the ways available in the whole world to deal with Ulcerative colitis and chrons.. Just to give you a hint I have many friends from India who healed from alternative method of medicine such as "AYURVEDA" "HOMEOPATHY" and many ways.. Help people..and please don't be judgemental regarding other methods of healing such as FMT don't think only your protocol will help people not other protocols..

    • @highcarbhealth1
      @highcarbhealth1  4 роки тому +13

      Hi Christopher, thanks for your comment and for not being rude :). For us, it is about the scientific evidence, not anecdotal evidence. From all our research, a plant-based lifestyle is optimal for healing from IBD. If you have any peer reviewed scientific evidence that says otherwise, I would love it if you could share it with me as I am yet to come across it! The fibre from a plant-based diet is the fuel for our good bacteria, it is the best diet for our microbiome. It is also the only diet ever proven scientifically to prevent and reverse heart disease and diabetes. This is why we cannot recommend another approach as they do not have the long terms results that we are looking at for our clients. We do not focus on short term results or symptom relief. The results come from following a healthy lifestyle for a period of time, not everyone has the patience for this. As Charlie said, it took him a good 6 months to heal.
      We do not want to judge anyone. If someone gets benefit from an approach that is different to ours, all power to them. It just goes against the scientific consensus of what the evidence suggests, which is why we don't recommend it. With FMT's, there is evidence that they can be beneficial. What we are saying is that unless we make other lifestyle changes, any good results from them will be negated. You can also heal without using FMT's, so while they are a potential tool, they are not essential to healing from IBD.
      Appreciate you taking the time to comment and I am happy to answer any other questions you have.
