nicely done man - love the pipe look!
Thanks Nick!
Looks great! Is the follow up video still on the way? Haven't found a video demonstrating the use of insulation. Thanks!
Very nice Andy!
Cool idea!
Nice looking chest. The iron pipe detail is a fun look.
Nice project Andy. Absolutely love those handles dude!
Thanks Guy
That came out great!
Thanks David!
Very nice design and craftsmanship - rabbet & ship lap joints. BTW opposite spots on dice always add up to seven, e.g. 3 on one side, 4 on the opposite side ( 3-4, 5-2, 6-1 ) 8^)
I have seen a million of these built online, however, I have to say that your design takes the cake. Great build, and will be enjoyed for many parties I am sure. One thing that I HOPE you are doing, is like the store bought coolers, I hope you are making the inside cooler out of Styrofoam and sheet metal bent/joined into a square shape? With sealed corners, and the lid being made out of similar materials/process. The only thing I might change about your build is that I would hinge the lid, but you could always change yours to suit. Thanks!
MP Woodworking Thank you for the comment! I plan on insulating the cooler with rigid insulation then using fiber glass panels to line the insulation. Use silicon to seal the corners and edges.
Cool, can't wait. I am going to eventually make one (now like yours), with rigid insulation and Styrofoam, covered with sheet metal and tack weld in a few spots, followed up with silicone on the edges to seal them...very similar to yours.
nice project color wood look good 👍👍
I like it, it looks awesome I'd maybe stain or just clear coat great project
DAVID 24 Thanks for the comment David!
The finished product looks really great and a nice finished look. Personally I wouldn't use that pipe on a box that small--it just looks a little too big for the box but that is a personal preference. Regardless, I give it a 10 and I think it looks very nice--great job!
Very nice
I'd use a deck sealer to keep it from weathering. Maybe a cedar or redwood tinted sealer. Great looking cooler chest. Thanks for the video. I'm gonna hit the subscribe button.
Nice take on a cooler box, Andy. The only concern I came up with are the side handles... I am afraid of them as decorative only - in my house, some helpful family member or party goer is sure to pick up the box by such handles. My second question on them is if the flanges screwed to the side panels like that will hinder seasonal movement, since you went to all that trouble on the ship lap joints? I guess time will tell! Thanks for the video.
Good job
I would put some leds lights wrap around that way you can find it in the dark just a idea thanks
Pipe look is really nice. Next video should be cool when you line it.
Nice project look forward to the lining process, will it include insulation? If you plan on leaving this out in the weather those black iron handles are going to rust pretty quick. A shelf underneath to store extra items that won't fit into the cooler might be very handy. Also maybe an arch in the stringer bottom to add a little more flair. I would also at least put some sort of sealer. Keeping natural.
Pat M good call on the iron handles! I will pry add a clear finish in the future
Glass Impressions Nice chest! An outdoor poly over the pipe will keep it looking good.
Nice
Bottle opener :) great build!
I like it, but would rather have the finished interior instead of the cooler. Did you ever do it??
Hi...part 2?
nice
I take it you never did the sealing of the box to get rid of the cooler? Nice work though. Was looking forward to seeing how you accomplished the second half.
Nice wooden cooler dude. I made one my self but not as nice.
Cool project, man.
Congrats.

I like it, but Why oh Why are you wearing sandals in your shop man? I am a retired steel mill worker and you have to protect those feet not just your eyes! Four words, Steel Toe Work Shoes!!!
